  1. Thank you for updating us.... many prayers to the crew and passengers. 😪
  2. Oh my gosh.... please keep us updated if you get any further info? This is very sad.
  3. I am not even going to deal with this silly s*** and just printed my email from stockperks confirming my stock obc. The majority of questions on this board are related to the lack of information, misinformation, poorly worded information, and overall garbage that is known as HAL'S website and app. This is just another example!
  4. I find this to be disturbing... you book and PAY FOR a certain cabin, entering into a contractual agreement. The fact that the cruiseline could potentially "bump you" to a lesser (or any other) cabin is utter nonsense! This is why we never sail during summer or holidays. Ever. Never.
  5. Well, after reading this post, I decided to check on my stock OBC which was previously showing in the Navigator App for our May cruise. Yep, GONE. WTH??? Now what?
  6. The SkyTrain is very efficient and it's 26 minutes to the airport. Allow time for boarding, unboarding, security, and walking to gate.
  7. We will be embarking our cruise on the Noordam on Sunday, May 5th. Arriving YVR at 11am, and taking SkyTrain to Waterfront Station... hoping to arrive Canada Place around 1:00-1-30 (after immigration and such, only carry-on luggage). It doesn't appear that the marathon will affect these plans.... correct? Not correct?
  8. We too, hung out on deck ten last year... often playing cards, drinking, mex train, drinking, chatting, drinking, enjoying the views, while drinking. Usually at a table near the Panorama bar. By chance have you met a server named Lee? She was so great... would literally have our drinks on the table when she saw us coming!
  9. Oh my.... our cruise ends in Vancouver on May 12th, and we are staying on for three nights in our favorite city. Although our hotel is adjacent to the famous Medina, we won't attempt it on Mothers Day, but wondering now if places might be booked up for dinner as well.... ? @martincath ?
  10. Yes, it is 100% normal. HAL cruisers are typically a bit older, and well cruised, who can entertain themselves quite well on sea days/evenings. They cruise more for the relaxed ship atmosphere, without the blaring movies on a big screen, or noisy pool games, or annoying announcements. They cruise for the interesting itineraries and not late night discos. Yep... all pretty boring.
  11. @BermudaBound2014... have truly been "reliving" last years cruise thru you, and this latest post was spot on! We did this exact tour with roll call friends, and he was so good... it was scenic, interesting, and very enjoyable. Your photos captured it well!
  12. You cannot compare an East Coast or Caribbean cruise with a West Coast... two completely different oceans (well, three actually), totally different weather, ocean currents, different vibe But, experiencing Hawaii is completely different than the islands in the Caribbean.
  13. Although I have nothing to corroborate this, I am absolutely certain the laundry by the bag on this same cruise last year was $20/bag. We had the unlimited for $210 (with one day/same day turnaround), and could have sent out perhaps four or five bags and saved some coin.
  14. I'm not certain, but when got off the lite rail at Westlake, we went up an escalator and walked 2-3 blocks to the Mayflower. If it does connect, we must have missed the signage.
  15. That's because it's NCL... HAL does not allow shorts in the MDR at dinner (after embarkation day), thank goodness. As for backward ball caps? If guys only knew how INCREDIBLY STUPID they look wearing them, they might think twice.
  16. Sorry, no photos, but pretty much as you describe. Our ship used a lower deck ramp, and you walk thru a cold, dreary warehouse out to the Embarcadero. However, it is quite close to Pier 39... so there's that.
  17. We sailed on the Beyond on its first voyage from Port Everglades in Nov '22. Although Elite on X, we hadn't sailed the Edge class, and wanted to try it. We enjoyed the trip, had an IV balcony, never paid above the drink package, loved the buffet, and saw awesome entertainment. Downside? Did not like the four (crowded) dining rooms, service at bars was slow and impersonal, ship felt crowded and seemed "over the top" with decor, and it was pricy as all hell. Overall, it was a total "one and done" for us, and from the sound of things here, we may be done with X entirely!
  18. Another good site to view actual cabin photos is cruisedeckplansdotcom. You'll probably find lots there... look at both Eurodam and Niewe Amsterdam.
  19. @dockman 10000% AGREE!! I've been saying this for years... the cruiselines could reduce or eliminate SO many problems with verbiage and signage! Imagine if the Daily had permanent "friendly reminders" such as "please close cabin doors quietly" (those slams drive me crazy) and "please use soft voices in hallways" (the louds at midnight!) Most offenders are clueless, but any reminder could help...
  20. It's fortuitous that this medical emergency didn't happen when you were further south and in the middle of nowhere. Sending prayers for the passenger's safety and recovery.
  21. The seven inside cabins on deck 10 forward would be a good choice. You are just steps from the Crow's Nest (perfect for warm viewing), and then walk one deck down to the Lido Pool area which has great viewing.
  22. After living in a beautiful community in Las Vegas, I can assure you that the word "free" is highly subjective! People would often crow about their "winnings", conveniently omitting how much they "put in". The "free" buffets, shows, trinkets, drinks, and yes, occasional jackpot, cost them BIG... no difference at sea.
