HIA Complimentary Excursion + extra payment
julia replied to leerathje's topic in Holland America Line
Just make sure you are logged in and see your excursion credits applied. You can definitely use any credit card to pay the difference. -
Which is PRECISELY what I did NOT do!!
-
Yes, all the bars will carry champagne, but with the $11 price on you HIA, your choices may be limited to sparkling wine or prosecco. You can always order something above the $11, and just pay the difference. Enjoy!

I am quite familiar with booking the HIA, and the associated line items that go with it, but I'm trying to figure this one out... "7-day Dining HIA Promo". ??? Any idea what this is?

2024 Grand World Voyage with The Inside Cabin
julia replied to The-Inside-Cabin's topic in Holland America Line
Well, I too would rather be on a world cruise and not have to watch a depleted Ohio State Buckeye team play in a second rate bowl game and not the national championship. Oh wait, sorry... I digress. Wishing you many, many new adventures and a happy, healthy WC 2024! Juli & Chuck -
@39august The "bed by the bath vs. bed by the balcony" is more of a Celebrity thing, where they have alternating cabin layouts. HAL is mostly bed by bath, with a few exceptions as mentioned above.

@richwmn When you get a chance, could you please post the latest minibar menu here on this thread? Thx!

Low down on Santa Barbara and Monterey ports
julia replied to mhurdle127's topic in West Coast Departures
Several cruise lines (HAL being one) continue to show Santa Barbara and Monterey on future itineraries. I would NOT book a cruise with the hopes of visiting either of these ports. -
We also enjoyed Wanis on the Koningsdam last year!!
-
Definitely NOT a "spa suite." Basic balcony cabin on an upper deck, with minimal perks. I hope you have smooth seas, or you will feel the movement!
-
First of all, just let me say that I love all three of you! We are kindred spirits, who could cruise together seamlessly, like we've known each other forever. Fine spirits? ✅️ Fine wines? ✅️ Wine pairings? ✅️ Fine cuisine? ✅️ Deck Seven? ✅️ Poohbert Deck??! I lost it! 😅 That was srsly your best line (out of dozens, said this Deck Seven girl!) 😅🍷🎶✅️ Thanks for sharing your trip, and Merry Christmas to @POA1, Michelle, and Poohby Joe! 💕

Over the Door Shoe Organizer for Koningsdam doors
julia replied to Jacqueet's topic in Holland America Line
Here's my magnet-hanging organizer on the Koningsdam. Five large mesh pockets, great for holding lots of our "to go" items, and it didn't look messy. -
Our door for 35 nights on the K'dam. I had many comments from passersby, saying the flowers helped them find their cabins!

We loved the Panorama Bar on Deck 10 (Lee was a great server!) and the Sea View bar on Deck 9 aft. Ocean Bar was good, but slow and crowded pre-dinner.

March 30-April 7 2024 Coastal California: A spring break cruise?
julia replied to Sea bucket's topic in Holland America Line
It will most definitely have more families than any other Spring sailing. If that's ok with you, then book it. I wouldn't even consider it. -
Nothing. There is nothing to see around LAX. Your shuttle may be shared, which will take time to load. Traffic, various terminals, and unloading will take time. TSA and gate walk will take time. Your flight will board earlier than 3pm. So, at best, you'll have a few hours to kill. Lots of expensive bars, restaurants and shops. That's about it.

Earliest flight out of LAX when docking at San Pedro?
julia replied to TwinMamainMN's topic in West Coast Departures
We had an excellent Lyft driver from San Pedro to LAX recently on a Wednesday morning. Picked up curbside at 8:30am, only ship in port. Major traffic on every freeway, and the ride from pickup to T7 took 42 minutes. TSA and walk to gate was about 25 minutes, and we had plenty of time before our 11:35 flight. While Sundays will be lighter on the freeway, the port area could be more congested with several ships, and LAX busier also. Still, I think noon is safe... -
The only option I would consider is flying, period (border crossing and Seattle traffic would be a hard NO for me!) Getting to YVR from CP is easy, and there is a good light rail system to downtown Seattle from SeaTac.
-
@crystalspin We did your cruise this past Feb/Mar... it was SO great!! Without loyalty, I paid $210 for the unlimited laundry, and, (while it was really nice), I could have saved a bit of money by going with "by the bag" option. The bags held so much!!
-
6:00 am may be the "arrival" but ship walkoff typically begins around 7:30am. Day of week and # of ships disembarking in Seattle (there are two piers) will affect your commute to SeaTac. Having TSA Pre (or doing "spot saver") is essential at SeaTac, as the lines are long. If you are prompt, and this is a domestic flight, you should be okay.

It's fairly obvious that the OP does NOT care if he misses the SHIP (not boat) because he's not paying for anything. Enough said.
