  1. Priced out Uber right now and less than $20.
  2. Agree with all you say; however, Mariner and Voyager are nothing alike beyond their berthing capacity. Mariner much larger ship (in GRT) with two passageway configuration on passenger decks whilst Voyager is single passageway configuration. I hate it when people, including some Regent cruise consultants, call them sister ships.
  3. Mariner is French built whilst the remainder of the Regent fleet is Italian (with initial work on Navigator by USSR). To compare any of the Mariner infrastructure to the Voyager infrastructure is meaningless.
  4. Abu Dhabi is nowhere near the Gulf of Aden; I agree. Abu Dhabi access is via the Strait of Hormuz that can be blocked by Iran anytime they want. I can't imagine Iran would take the bad press and consequences but these days I wouldn't be taking the chance. We are still booked on Voyager next year to both Dubai and through the Red Sea; I expect this will all be a distant memory by then.
  5. It is interesting that other cruise lines seem to be avoiding the Strait of Hormuz in addition to the Gulf of Aden; yet Mariner and Navigator are completing their voyages, as scheduled, in Abu Dhabi. I hope that doesn't come back to bite Regent.
  6. 2022 Navigator Greenland Iceland cruise we totally missed Greenland but added day in Iceland and day in St Pierre. We ended up losing six ports on that cruise but added four other days in port. You take your chances and North Atlantic can be fickle. We are taking the same cruise this summer on Mariner which has three ports in Greenland and scenic cruising so hoping for the best. Marc
  7. We, too, were on the Mariner Christmas/New Years cruise. We had no issues with food and beverage or housekeeping staff; i.e., the hotel department. We still love the ship and will be on her for 83 nights this summer. We did, however, cancel next year's Christmas/New Year's cruise on the Mariner as we believe the entertainment staff failed miserably in providing a festive experience. I have found that building a rapport with young dining room staff pays off quickly. Even if they are not the most experienced I have found them to provide excellent service when you. are courteous and respect them. In over 600 nights on Regent we have never left an extra gratuity (beyond crew welfare fund) yet we continue to have fantastic service on every trip. We get on Explorer next month and Mariner in June and I expect exemplary service on both trips. Marc
  8. We had three adults in aft facing G2 on Explorer. No issues with room but balcony has steel railing so you couldn’t see the water when sitting on balcony. Long walk to get to compass rose.
  9. I know that and you know that and Silversea knows that . . .
  10. Silver Whisper is currently in New Zealand. How do you envision Silversea changing this into a Greek Isles cruise by 20 March?
  11. 684; it is entrance to gym.
  12. Cruisemapper times are in GMT. 0030 GMT equals 0600 Mumbai.
  13. The Grand European Grand Voyage on Voyager this summer was supposed to have close to a dozen days in Turkey (in addition to Israel); now, only three days in Turkey and a dozen in Greece. We had switched to Grand Arctic (again) because of the heat of so many days inTurkey in middle of summer; I guess we could have waited; still Greece will be hot.
  14. Mariner will probably have a Cape Town to Miami segment (or two segments with no Med). Navigator is a different story; she has a whole Med season to protect; I have no idea what Regent will do with her.
  15. NCL developed new dock in Ketchikan a few years back that is not even in Ketchikan. Last time we were on Mariner in Alaska stopped at this new dock and it was ridiculously far out of town. Any change would be welcome versus going again to NCL dock.
  16. Mariner going to Miami not Med. Mariner will be in Male Maldives two days before HAL and arrives in Miami six days after HAL; they can do same itinerary as HAL but add six or more days in port. Navigator willl have a much more involved modification.
  17. RCL announcing earnings tomorrow morning; I am sure the cancellations/reroutings will be a topic at the earnings call.
  18. That's what I get for not looking at a map; I was thinking Goa but Cochin was on website. Moon still on Mumbai port schedule as of last version on 24 January; will be interesting to see if on next version.
  19. Why can't both Mumbai and Cochin be true? Put current booked passengers into hotels in Mumbai on 11th with boarding on 14th AND option of boarding 15th in Cochin? Maybe even give offer to current pax that they can decrease their cruise from 18 nights to 14 nights (with fare reduction) and then Silversea would not be on hook for so many hotel rooms. Marc PS There are two threads with identical cross posts so I didn't know which thread to append my question.
  20. Any word on possible change of itinerary after Maldives? Going south instead of north?
  21. Although the duck entree was taken off Chartreuse menu on Mariner (but still available on Grandeur), I have found duck is the one game meat you can get most nights. Elk, venison, squab, quail, pheasant, ostrich, and others have all disappeared in last few years. Even foie gras has been taken off the always available menu in Compass Rose but you can still put in a standing special order if you want.
  22. Yes, and I apologize for thinking you were flying over the pond; evening flights are usually international.
  23. Just special order it. Chef might ask that you special order it for a night where duck is already on menu but all the ingredients should be available. Special ordering is now done at Dining Reservation desk but a recipe specific dish might be easier to order through dining room manager.
  24. Cruise no longer on website. I also couldn't find any mention of a cruise leaving from Colombo; Singapore embarkation is first cruise. Maybe I can't figure out the Silversea website.
  25. Embarkation usually starts at 1130. Last month we were there a little early and one of the Regent busses rolled up. All passengers stayed on the bus until line started moving so they didn't have to stand outside. You should be in a similar situation. As for debarkation, Regent sometimes runs tours (e.g., Everglades airboat) and then drop off at airport; your fellow Brits should be able to give their past experiences. marc
