  1. If you are indeed sailing in May, you aren’t on the President’s cruise.
  2. OR……….if everyone removed their tips, the industry would tend to their own issues. Regardless, I think you are deluding yourself with the “overwhelming majority” comment. More people handle their business the way I do than you may think. One last point, ask any crew that’s worked the ships for more than a few years, nearly all will tell you, they prefer a cash tip system, just like tipped workers stateside. The upside is huge, and makes everyone responsible for their own success.
  3. Thank you for putting it much more eloquently than I could have. This is what I was trying to convey, there is a guaranteed component to the contract $658
  4. No, I take very good care of those typically found in a tipped position.
  5. The Joint Maritime Commission of the International Labour Organization has set seaman’s minimum monthly wage at USD $658 for 2023
  6. However cruise ship crew sign a contract GUARANTEEING their wage, regardless off gratuity - not at all like land based service positions.
  7. Apples and Buicks P.S. A tipped service position was never meant to provide a "living wage"
  8. @Eastern flygirl Just a quick FYI. Once you get things squared away with Royal; if you are flying, there is some paperwork for the airlines to enable you to fly with the cremains.
  9. Just further proof it’s not great to compare opinions on food; there is no right or wrong. Texans will, however be hypercritical of Mexican food and BBQ!🤪
  10. EASILY the worst menu of the new lineup. It was the only time I have ever left the MDR in the middle of the entree service.
  11. Haven’t done it on my last 3 trips, dating back to Nov ‘22 We even had the piano player in the elevator on two of those.
  12. could be old pictures from the period immediately following post Covid restart
  13. They still require that in certain locales
  14. I have no desire to get into this with you. Post number three you talked about a QR code, that is not available on all ships. The post of yours that I quoted initially was you agreeing with someone about ice buckets being filled at each cleaning. That does not cover with the original poster is concerned about. Perhaps you should go back to bed and maybe next time get up on the right side? Have a good Sunday.
  15. Folks are accustomed to having their ice bucket filled twice a day; now the attendant only services the room once a day. People are inquiring as to where they can get that second bucket filled.
  16. Reason # 285 why this credit card is not worth the time. You can get so many better travel benefits from many other cards.
  17. I believe the concern and the question at hand is, now every cleaning is just once a day. (Unless in a suite)
  18. I have never paid more than a $500 deposit on a suite for a 7 day itinerary. 100% of my booked cruises (non suite) are booked at a group rate. I admire your conviction, but your statements are false
  19. No, not touchy at all. “That’s how alcoholics think” is labeling someone for the way thru THINK, regardless of naming someone. It just struck me as inappropriate, that’s just me
  20. So you declare someone an alcoholic simply because their views on alcoholic consumption are different than yours?? I think you may want to revisit the definition
