  1. We board the Nova on 8-21-23. 31 days before we see the new ship. Very exciting.
  2. We are on the Nova Nov. 21, 2023 and today we can book our dinner ressies. I was able to book all the restaurants except La Dame and Kaiseki. They did not even show up as possible choices. Has anybody else had this problem? Thx/
  3. We tip in US dollars or Euros. We are modest tippers so $5 to $10 PP depending on the length of the excursion. I know, call me a cheapskate!!
  4. If the excursion guides do a good job, please tip them as they really deserve it. Regent does not give them any tips.
  5. This is part of the reason that we do SS over Regent. Regent "invites" children with special pricing. SS never seems to do this. If we do a Regent cruise, we try and do it when the kids are in school but that is not a guarantee.
  6. I find this current "sale" from SS a non-starter for us. The two category suite upgrade only means you get the same size cabin in a different location- a nothing burger. Lower deposit- huh! Is that supposed to be a big deal. The only part that makes any difference us is the $1,000 SBC. As we usually get $350 SBC, now we could get an additional $650. No much of a "sale" IMHO!
  7. The devil is in the details- in the fine print, the airfares are not locked in and SS can change an additional cost if fares go up. I have not experienced this or heard of others that experienced a higher cost.
  8. When I see RSSC promo about "kids cruise free" or at a discounted rate, I run the other way and would NEVER book that cruise. When our kids were young, we took them on the main line cruiser companies with lots of activities for kids. Just my $.02 worth. Different strokes for different folks.
  9. I don't think these items are provided. Somebody else can correct me.
  10. Excellent analysis of this thorny subject. Thank you for taking the time to research this. I will be on the Nova 8-21-23 and looking forward to the new ship. Bon voyage!!
  11. No socks here in the desert also for 2/3 of the year. Actually, most wear the little socks that are not visible so it looks like no socks.
  12. A shirt is optional as it is not in the dress code- whatever floats the boat. Socks are also optional.
  13. If somebody tells you, then they have to kill you. It seems to be verboten on this website!
  14. I believe the "formal optional" is only for 7 day or less cruises. At 8 days or more, there will be "formal" nights that are supposedly not optional. Last year on two cruises, Moon and Dawn, for formal nights I wore black slacks, a Black sportcoat and a tie and didn't have a problem anywhere on the ship. I did see people going into Atlantide without a sports coat and they were given extra sport coats to wear. Put the coat on your seat back if you are too warm.
  15. I have never heard of that for Regent, SilverSea or Seabourn.
  16. I just saw a facebook post from Barbara Muckerman stating that they used a different supplier for the Nova. I think I am still good to go 8-21-23 out of Venice on the Nova!!
  17. Having connected through there last summer, I would want a 2 hour between flights.
  18. I got reimbursed since we have no Blacklane in our sleepy little town of Tucson- darm!!
