    Caves?

It is suggested to call and make a reservation but is not required. I don’t think there is a way to prepay. It is only a reservation if you call. You will still get in without a reservation but it is first come first serve so at certain times you might have to wait longer. I would not make a reservation myself as I like flexibility. I would not want to plan the exact time ahead. Some have complained in the past about waiting so I think that is what the reservation is about.
  2. You are not supposed to take photos or videos in that area. Lucky you didn’t get caught.
  3. When you come out of the ferry terminal it is to the right toward BUEI. To the East. Walk several blocks on Front St to King St. Go left on King St past Reid St, Fire department and Church St. Then there is a road you turn right on. Should be a sign. A little ways is the fort entrance. You can get the pocket map from the Visitor Information Centre at the Dockyard or the one on Front St in Hamilton near the ferry terminal there. I used that map to get there. At the VIC they will draw the route for you if you want.
  4. I have been to Fort Hamilton. It was about a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal up a slight hill. It was easy for me but I am a prolific walker. Someone told me it was a sketchy area but we didn't see anyone around. There is no admission charge and no staff. When we went there was one person leaving and we were there by ourselves except for a large tabby cat. When we left someone else was arriving. It did not appear there are many visitors. Great views from the Fort. There were restrooms. Down the stairs we walked around underneath the fort in what was a moat. Very interesting.
  5. The #6 bus goes near enogh to Clearwater to walk to the stop once an hour. Not being patient we took a taxi from St. George cost was $20. You can see the planes. There is food and rentals. There are good restrooms. I don't think there are lockers.
  6. He is going to need the birth certificate to embark if the passport is not issued. The other documents you mention won't work. You said trying since 2022. Something must be missing. Hopefully the senator will faciliate in time. Hard to imagine why it would take 7 months to get a birth certificate. What state was it issued in?

    Caves?

The caves are in Baileys Crossroad which is on the east end of Bermuda The Swiizzle Inn is in the same area. I like to get to that area by taking a ferry to St. George’s and then a taxi which is about $20 but there are also multiple bus routes. The ferry’s to St. George do not run every day so you could also take a ferry to Hamilton and then a taxi $28 or a bus. The amount of time to get there will be about the same weather to take the ferry to St. George or Hamilton.

    Caves?

It takes about 20 minutes to go through each. There is admission which includes a guide. You should know that it is about 88 steps down and back up from the caves. They recommend making a reservation. You can take a ferry to either Hamilton or St. George and then either a bus or taxi from Hamilton or St. George. You could take a taxi straight from the Dockyard but the combined ferry and either a bus or taxi trip is the best way. https://caves.bm
  9. Sorry but I don’t know. It probably depends on wind direction too.
  10. As has been said Horseshoe is easier to get to. There are no permanent facilities at Elbow but last summer from Bermuda day until labour day there was a food truck and they were renting chairs and umbrellas from the truck. They were not allowed to use the private part of the beach where the closed resort is located even though the resort is closed. Whether the food truck will be back is unknown right now.
  11. The weather forecast you see now is irrelevant. Weather apps use algorithms. The weather forecast from the Bermuda weather service is more accurate about 2 or 3 days out. http://www.weather.bm
  12. There is a channel and it is narrow. The wind definitely is a factor.
  13. In Bermuda they check intense. They also are suspicious of non anglisized last names and about 30% of the time pick me out for a bag check if I have a backpack coming back from the beach. Others I travel with who have anglized last names always sail through.
  14. Local security at some ports does check your photo ID in addition to your sea pass card. Locals at Bahamas and Bermuda for example check.
  15. If that is true that the smell of pot is pervasive then I don't want to cruise on Carnival. Of course I don't know if that is an exageration but if they are lining up passenger to be sniffed that would be red flag that there is soe truth to it.
  16. The passport card isn’t better than a drivers license for ID at ports. It is a waste of $25. Passport cards are meant for easy crossing of land and sea borders without a passport book in North America.
  17. I don't use illegal drugs but having to line up against a wall and have my luggage sniffed is gross. Is this is standard practice on now on Carnival?
  18. All the south shore beaches. Some say Warwick Long Bay is the pinkest. Horseshoe Bay and Elbow Beach are pink sand beaches. Some are expecting the sand to be more "pink" than it is because they have seen docktored photos. How pink the sand appears can very by time of day and sunlight. Some can't see it. YMMV
  19. What you can do to make it easier to get a cab or find your car service at Penn Station is to request Red Cap assistance for your group. The Red Caps will probably even hale the taxis for you at the taxi stand. If you use a car service they can take your group to the pick up location if the drivers don't meet the train. (some might) You can tell your conductor who scans your ticket that you would like Red Cap assistance.
  20. Separate cabs should run from $20 to $30 each cab depending on traffic. The taxis are metered so can only estimate. At Penn Station it is easy to get taxis after you find the taxi stand. It can be confusing. If you hire a car service getting orientated will be confusing too as to where they will pick you up. Since you are not familiar with Uber or Lyft now is not the time to learn. My opinion is that separate taxis is the easiest but if you want to stay together in one group, you know the group, then the car service even though it is more expensive.
  21. A group of 10 with luggage who are from out of town who are not familiar with the subway or Penn Station are not going to find it easy. Several taxis would be the be the easiest.
  22. AirTags don’t work with Android phones like Samsung. Android users can use Tile trackers. Samsung also has Samsung trackers. The rumor is that Google is developing Android trackers that work like AirTags that might be released later this year or early next year. The rumor is probably true as Google copies features from Apple that have been successful and vice versa, if an Android feature is successful Apple will have something like it a year or two later.
  23. One year we did Crown Princess twice. We loved the food and service the first time. The second time later in the year, different Captain, hotel director and difficult head chef. The crew was tense, the service was subpar and the food was not as good. The head chef does make a difference. What I noticed after a few more cruises on Princess was they were the least consistent. Also I never cared for any of the Princess specialty restaurants. On Royal Caribbean the MDR was consistently subpar but the specialty restaurants were all very good. So if you can do all specialty that’s the way to go on Royal. On Holland the MDR was always good. I didn’t care for their specialty restaurants. Celebrity the MDR is better than Royal, not as good as Holland. I like the Celebrity specialty restaurants. Carnival the food was good but they ruined it with singing waiters and other non dining crap while dining. NCL avoid the MDR like the plague. The non free restaurants vary. Some are fairly good. Really it’s all subjective but on the above mass market lines the food has to appeal to a wide demographic. It is not going to be amazing. For better food with some of it amazing pay more and book the smaller cruise lines. The food on Azamara, Cunard and Oceania was not always amazing but it was pretty good on the whole.
  24. I have sailed Celebrity since 1996. In 1996 it was outstanding. Not outstanding for the last ten years and the last five meh in my opinion. Of the mass market cruise lines I would rate Holland America slightly better and Princess equal to Celebrity. In the last five years I would rate Oceania to be outstanding. When I did Cunard about 10 years ago it was better than all the mass market lines. Ditto for Azamara.
  25. Almost all the other mass market lines have better food than Royal Caribbean. Even Carnival…..
