  1. That happened to me! The tv remote was not working and needed new batteries. I called guest relations and someone was sent up. The steward got upset and told me I should have called him and he would be in trouble. I said sorry I didn't know. I guess he was supposed to check the remote. I always put two tags on my luggage. Both tags were cut off and my luggage was at lost and found in the bag pickup area.
  2. Hate it or not that is the way it works. It is an unfortunate part of our culture. I tip $5 a bag. Never got any flak about that amount. No one is required to tip but if they get upset about the size of the tip I would hate that too. The last few cruises I intended to only take a carry on but at the last minute when packing the bag I chickened out. Maybe next time I will do it.
  3. It is probably on the ship somewhere. At least with an AirTag or Tile that could be known.
  4. All the mass market lines are pretty similar. If you want better food you are looking at the wrong lines. None of them were amazing pre covid unless you are going back 25 years ago.
  5. Most of the taxis take up to seven passengers. There are two different rates, one for 1-4 and another for 5-7 passengers but the vehicles usually can take up to seven. I can’t actually recall any that I have been taken the last few years not having three rows. They are not allowed to take more than seven.
  6. Taking Ubers would be a lot easier with luggage. If you take the subway they have not used tokens for 20 years. The switched to fare cards. You can now tap and pay. Tap credit or debit cards work or Apple Pay or Samsung Pay and the wallet app on your phone or watch. The trains are below the subway but you will probably exit the train platform and end up above the subway. There is a way to exit the train platforms and end up on the same level as the subway but you probably won’t be directed that way.
  7. You can only see the northern lights after it gets dark. It won’t get dark during the months of midnight sun in the arctic. I took a Norway cruise in early July a few years ago that went to the arctic and it never got dark 24 hours. It was called a midnight sun cruise. The sun does not set. There is too much light to see the northern lights.
  8. Almost 24 hours of daylight then. You won’t see the northern lights!
  9. You don’t need to take your passport with you off the ship in Bermuda.
  10. Here is a cut and paste from what I posted yesterday from another thread that was not specifically about taxi tours. There is a parking area off the docks that is designated for offering island taxi tours, island minibus tours and the minibus shuttles to Horseshoe. It has signs. The regular taxi line off the ship the drivers may be or may not have “blue flag” taxis. It is mainly for people going to a specific destination. The so called “blue flag drivers” have an ID. The rate for taxi tours is regulated. It is $50 an hour for the taxi if you have 1-4 passengers or $70 an hour if you have 5-7 passengers. There is a three hour minimum.
  11. Just look at some cat videos or cruise videos and TikTok will show you cruise and cat videos. TikToks algorithms are better than Facebooks.
  12. I can disparage things I don’t like. I looked at a lot of stuff on there. Stuff that I know a lot about was just plain wrong. They use algorithms to hook people but I didn’t get hooked and I didn’t find the platform very useful. I have not been using the platform. I will look again in a few months if the app has not been banned which seems possible. While I don’t think it should be banned I am not a fan of having my data on Chinese servers.
  13. Depends on the group. Probably every RC cruise I have been on of 7 days or less has had groups. Some quite large. RC is perfect for groups. Many times we didn't even notice the group like when a company gave their employees a cruise until a fellow passenger mentioned they were with a group. Some groups were noticeable. Rarely did we know about the group in advance. Sometimes on our roll call someone mentioned they were with a group.
  14. Same for me. Only 25 years but the only stuff of value is has been videos on Viking cruises and Virgin cruises. I think for newbies there are some whose videos that are of value. Gary B who does the tips videos does a good job. Real tips, not click bait.
  15. Tons of the info and tips posted on TiKTok is wrong. TikTok is good for watching cute cat and dog stories. For info meh.
  16. There are always plenty of taxis and minibus shutttles at Horseshoe until about 5 or 5:30. I have been to Horseshoe about 25 times. Since you are going solo the $7 minibus shuttles would be your best option. Easy to find to get there and easy to find to get back. I get off the ship at 8:30 and they are lined up in the parking area Same at Horseshoe when I want to return. I usually have had enough sun by 2 or 3 and return than. There is no Uber but there is a taxi dispatch app called Hitch but you should not need it for Horseshoe if you want to take a taxi.
  17. That is an official birth certificate issued by the government. So should becno problem with it.
  18. Don’t take the cruise line excursion. There are private shuttles that cost $7 each way or taxis cost $32. You can go and leave when you please and certainly either by minibus shuttle or taxi you will pay less than the cruise line excursion.
  19. I guess I was influenced by the influencers as the Smeg did not get much uptake. Anyway this morning Amazon had the machine my main influencer has, my niece, the Breville Express on sale for 30% off so I ordered one. She has offered to teach me how to use it so that’s very influencing.
  20. I always leave for Horseshoe at 8:30 and there is plenty of availability when getting there at 9:00. The afternoon seems to be when they might run out. I don’t know what you mean by sessions. I either take a taxi or the $7 minibus. I don’t take the public bus because it does not go up down or up the hill. I arrive about 9 and leave at 2 or 3. I have also started at Warwick Long Bay at around 9 and walked to Horseshoe and still have been able to get a chair rental at 11.
  21. I watch YouTube videos often but I keep in mind that some of them are being sponsored and getting free stuff so they can’t be trusted. There was one young woman in my building who reviews tech products and she was getting deliveries every day from tech companies. She gushed about the products. But basically she was shilling to make a living and getting free stuff. Could not trust much on her videos. There are others who are making money from YouTube based on the number of subscribers and who do put up interesting videos. Still I keep in mind that they are paid to influence. I am currently researching home espresso machines as I might buy one and lots of interesting videos but the manufacturers are providing the gear. No one could own all of that gear. Most influencers are not going to say a machine is trash because they won’t get the machines to review but I can still learn something if I watch 20 videos.
  22. If it is a government issued birth record then it is an official birth certificate. Don’t worry about the wording on it. The ones that are not accepted are the ones issued by hospitals.
  23. Certificates of Live Birth are what hospitals issue. They are not official Birth Certificates. They are not acceptable documentation.
  24. Certificates of Live Birth and Birth Certificates are not the same. The first is the hospital certificate which is not accepted. DC does have Birth Certificates. When I google Guam Birth certificate I get this page. http://www.govguamdocs.com/dphss/docs/VitalStatistics/ApplicationforCopyofBirthMarriageDeathCertificate.pdf So it appears that Guam does have birth certificates.
  25. Never heard of that as the ones that do tours who took the blue flag course are supposed to be trained to guide. That reminds me. One thing that I advise not doing on a taxi tour is the caves. You will be in the caves for an hour or so and the driver won’t be doing anything. If you want to do the caves just take a taxi there and another taxi back. The driver I had wanted to take us there but I had already done the caves. He seemed disappointed we didn’t want to go there.
