  1. And that is why I will keep complaining about smoking in the casinos. Someday other lines may see the light like Celebrity has and ban smoking in the casino.
  2. That is the Bermuda traditional fish sandwich in Bermuda. Cafe Ole does them too but in my subjective opinion Woody's is better.
  3. That would be Crystal Caves. Make sure the grill at John Smith's is open as last fall they were only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maybe they open the rest of the week in the summer.
  4. Yes, whatever none should take a cab in New Jersey. Before there was Uber I had no choice but to take some. Usually horrible. My first cruise out of Bayonne the driver got lost to the port or so he claimed. Really easy to take an Uber and much better. After that cab or Uber I follow their route on my phones GPS.
  5. There are more trains that stop at Newark Penn than Newark Airport Station. I always get off at Newark Penn. I used to take a taxi which was a flat rate to the port. If you get off at Newark Airport which I have done when flying from the airport you have to take the AirTran to the airport. The last few cruises out of Bayonne I took an Uber. If you stay at a hotel take an Uber. The taxi drivers are going to rip you off on metered rides. The streets are spaghetti and congested.
  6. Maybe nothing else was available. I have not done a 7 day fjords cruise only a 12 day fjords out of Southampton that went all the way to North Cape on Princess in July when the sun never set. Really cool. Maybe you have done one of those? If not you should put that on your list. We went into all the fjords. One of my favorite cruises. There were Celebrity and HAL ships doing a similar itinerary then. You probably would prefer on Princess as they had all Brit comedians who I didn’t understand their jokes😀
  7. If the ship leaves early most likely there will be a sea day. No other place to go on 7 day Summit.. If there is a hurricane or northeaster then the ship may go to the Bahamas or Canada as substitute. Depends on storm track. Never happened to me in June but a northeaster is a rare possibility. The other rare possibility in June is delayed arrival because of high winds. The ship channel is narrow and can’t be navigated with high winds. Happens most often December through April. Or in the fall.
  8. We always eat lunch on the island. Lunch can be reasonable. Dinner on the island can be expensive. I have tended to avoid that.
  9. There are no McDonalds in Bermuda. It is not allowed. No foreign fast food chains in Bermuda with the exception of a grandfathered in KFC in Hamilton.
  10. I agree it would be better to fly and stay but hotels are very expensive and air flights are too. Air flights are also limited. So using the ship as a hotel is a less expensive option. In the old days before big ships we did cruises that did a better itinerary than the Dockyard. Docking at Hamilton and St. George which I prefer over the Dockyard. There are still a few cruises that do Hamilton and St. George’s which I have been doing. Oceania….. So 16 out of sailings to Bermuda we were cut short 3 times. One day short at the end of 4 days on Zenith. One day short at the end of 3 days on Summit and 1 day short at the beginning of 3 days on Veendam. The Zenith and Summit sailings were still pretty good because the weather was perfect in Bermuda. It was to avoid hurricanes that were in the way but never impacted Bermuda itself. The Veendam sailing was delayed because of a hurricane that passed through New York. So I don’t book September/October sailings any more.
  11. You can rent electric bikes at Pedego in St. George’s. Oleander at the Dockyard rents pedal bikes and possibly electric bikes too. https://pedegoelectricbikes.com/dealers/bermuda/
  12. I think most people who visit go swimming there and have no idea. It is a nature preserve and when the group that oversees it decided no swimming there to protect it the Hidden Gems Tour group objected and was able to get an exemption because swimming there was a major part of their tour and the Hidden Gems tour company had been doing their tour for many years. I don’t recall the year that happened. There is supposed to be a sign but I have never seen it. Some have reported that they were informed by someone with the tour company which happened to be there at the time when they visited.
  13. It would be best to take a minibus or a taxi. The hill won't be easyfor him from the public bus stop. They go down the hill and pick up right at the beach. If you are 3 or 4 going together you should take a private taxi. Minibuses are shared ride and they might have 12-30 in the minibus. A private taxi would only be a few more dollars.
  14. The Visitor Information Centre sells tokens and Transportation Passes which are good on both the bus and ferry. So on the bus either a token, $5 exact change or a pass. On the ferry that will take a token, a pass or $5 cash. The cash on the ferry can be bills. In the morning there usually has been kiosks either on the cruise ship dock or right of of it that sell tokens and passes. The ferry to Hamilton takaes 20- 30 minutes and the ferry to St. George 45 minutes. If going to Horseshoe Bay there is a steep hill. The buses don't go down it. There are minbuses that shuttle back and forth all day that are $7 per person each way that do go up and down the hill. The minibuses pick ip near the ship and leave when they are filled. Taxis also drop off down the hill and pick up there. A taxi costs about $32 and you cna get them right off the ship. Personally I prefer a taxi to Horseshoe and other places over the public buses. So I will take a ferry to Hamilton or St. George and then a taxi if I am going beyond Hamilton or St. George. . The buses can be unreliable.and if they are full they will pass right by.
  15. The ferry dock is a short walk. The bus stop is across from the Clocktower Mall which might be too far for him. There is a free trolly that circles the Dockyard that you can take to the Clocktower Mall.
  16. I think that would be problematic. The police likely won't get involved. If OP can find someone having them pay either to their travel agent or P&O who are set up to receive payments would be safest.
  17. Probably not allowed. Also how would people know it is not a scam? I don't know anything about P&O but transfering booking is not anything I ever heard was possible. Why would a cruise line do that when they can resell the space themselves?
  18. Right. In 2019 there was only one rental company that rented Twizys, Now there are four companies. All the rentals are electric two seaters but there are different brands and some are side by side seats. Prices vary.
  19. People may get confused if you say water taxis. What they have in Bermuda is a public ferry system with ferry boats that run on set routes. There are no water taxis.
  20. I have had plenty of itinerary changes on Princess. (never on been on P&O and don’t intend to ever be) I would not count on ports on any cruise. Actually did Zebrugge on Princess. Great port. Went to Bruges. Bought chocolates, Belgian French fries, had great Belgian beer took a canal boat ride, saw a Michelangelo. I would go back for sure.
  21. Having been a resident of Maryland for 35 years that is a very bad analogy. Washington DC is a great city to explore. While Baltimore has some things to explore and enjoy Washington DC is many times better. We usually did not venture to Baltimore. It is easy to travel between them but I would not want to bother.
  22. That is one of the reasons I prefer the first or second week of June. July and August there can be 600 kids on Summit.
  23. Just scroll back. The link was posted. Post # 6298.
  24. Before there were Cruise Critic Meet and Mingles we organized our own ad hoc. Many, not all were pretty good. The meet and mingles came out of what passengers started. So back to the past...
