  1. Personally if the public ferry is not running I would not go to St. George from the Dockyard. There are other things that can be done than St.George.
  2. There are chairs and umbrellas to rent. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the world. It tends to be crowded close by the facilities and concession. The other end to the left facing the ocean) is less crowded. The beach attendents who will set up your chair and umbrella are willing to carry them the distance if you want to be at the less crowded end.
  3. Glad to hear that Cunard is doing the right thing by giving everyone a $40 credit.
  4. If it is still suspended in September my suggestion would be to take a ferry to Hamilton then either a bus or taxi to St. George.
  5. I checked on MarineTraffic and the NCL ferry is running today. Going through the Cut now. Added.........It seems to be docked at Pennos Wharf. (the cruise ship dock in St. George's)
  6. I read the documents and agree it is not likely to be done in a few days. I could not find a timeline for the work in the documents. That seems odd. Don’t understand either why they did not wait until November when they usually suspend the Orange Line for the winter. I wonder how the NCL ferry will use the dock while work is done. Perhaps they will use Pennos Wharf. Or maybe the NCL ferry can use the spot where they store it in St. George’s. There used to be a ferry dock in that area. I recall getting off ferries on that side of the town square years ago. I also notice in the document they are going to be taking a gangway from Pennos to Hunter.
  7. Not a good risk. Two things to consider. There are thousands of flights being canceled every day. every. The air system is a mess. Maybe that will be fixed by February but maybe not. Second flights out of Atlanta may be connecting from somewhere else. So a snowstorm in the midwest could affect your flight.
  8. Not much information and I don't understand why they don't use the cruise ship dock until the ferry dock work is completed. The ferries used to use that dock. The ship schedule does not show any cruise ships in St. George in August. Plus why not do the work off season when the Orange Route does not run? https://www.royalgazette.com/transport/news/article/20220807/st-georges-ferry-suspended-2/
  9. There is plenty you can do from 8 until 4. We have been many times but a couple of times from 8-4. It does take a plan but it can be done. You have plenty of time to go to Hamilton if it is a weekday. Or to do a taxi tour. I did a four hour taxi tour and saw a lot of Bermuda that I had not seen from public transportation and learned a great deal from the driver. It may be late in the season for the beach. I have tendered on HAL to Half Moon Cay. They used the ship tenders. Some private islands have a couple of boats on their island for tendering. Much better. When I took Veendam to Bermuda were were supposed to tender at St. George. Turned out to be a CF and they abandoned that. So they gave us a free one day transportation pass which we could use to get to St. George is we desired.
  10. I also did not have to wear a mask at my last dentist appointment for a cleaning. But you can't really wear a mask to get your teeth cleaned or examined.......in the waiting room used to have to call only one could come inside at a time but they stopped that. No masks in waiting room either.
  11. I have been to the opticians lately looking for new frames and they were all requiring masks. But they don't have to require it. I respect their policy. I would not wear a mask if they did not require it but it is no big deal to me. Off topic, America's Best is cheap but they are America's Worst. They have a store are in my building which would be convienient and I would never use them based on past experience. If you want inexpensive glasses for kids I suggest Costco if you are a member or Walmart.
  12. I did not realize Zaandam & Volendam were still in service. Kind of a shock to me that they made it past the covid restart. I have been on Volendam and really liked it. I think it does fit into OPs desired size. They could fit into some smaller harbors too. I would call them small to medium. I have been on Westerdam and New Amsterdam. Those would not have any size advantage as far as harbors. They call at the typical large ship ports.
  13. Holland America does that in Europe sometimes. Combines segments into shorter or longer cruises.
  14. I have not been on Viking yet but I have been on Azamara and Oceania. Those feel right to me too. The OP has indicated small ships are not in their budget. That is why OP is asking for Medium size ships with 2500 passengers but not over 3000. To me once you get to 2500-3000 there is not much difference between that and 4000, 5000.
  15. Tulum is a long way from Cozumel and from a cruise port involves the vomit ferry both ways and a long highway ride both ways. So doing it independent is not prudent as with all the variables as being late back to the ship is a possibility.
  16. The problem is two fold. Google has never put much into making Android run properly on tablets. Second is that the Royal app is a phone app. Even on iOS it runs as a phone app on iPads as Royal has not made a tablet version. It runs fine but it is designed to be used on phones. Another problem is that Android devices don't get updated much and every device is different . So developers don't pay Android apps as much attention as they do iOS apps.
  17. I don't beleive it is the tour operator. I have done independent tours in Mexico many times, last time did Tulum and Coba with different tour operators booked at a resort and there were no age restrictions. Tulum has well kept paths and is pretty flat. I keep reading posts asking about age restrictions and they are all on cruise line tours. Unfortunately Tulum is not a tour that cruise passengers would want to book independent because of distance from the port. Also the first time I went to Tulum was on a cruise line excursion and it was a long ride. Two shopping/toilet stops and 45 minutes at the ruins. A ppor use of time. Not worth it. The land based tour was way better.
  18. They won't say gay men who have multipe partners because I guess that is not woke or something so they use code words like fetishes, activities and lifestyles. In any case there is a vaccine available that is in limited supply do to poor policies. Get it out there and target people who engage in risky behavior.
  19. The schedule shows none tendering the rest of the year. Carnival tendered twice. Pure disregard for passengers in my opinion. They should have done a different itinerary those weeks. Carnival does get the leftovers in Bermuda slots because they don't have a contract like NCL and RCI but that is no excuse to schedule in advance going to Bermuda on dates when they can't dock.
  20. Carnival usually docks. A couple of times this year the Legend tendered. I don’t think there is any more this year.
  21. AirTags have an advantage because there are over one billion devices on the Find My network Most iPhones are going to have interent access because otherwise they would be of little use. Most stay connected to the internet. It is only on cruise that some people disconnect either because they don't want to pay for internet or they want to be not reachable. Bluetooth has a range of 15 -30 feet so the tracking works pretty good with over a billion devices on the network. The last few iPhones have an additional feature. An additional chip that allows precision tracking. So I know that my keys which are on a keyring with an AirTag, if I misplace them at home gives the exact distance within that range and with AR points to the keys exact location.
  22. There are plenty of small ships. OP asked about medium size ships because they figure that small ships are out of their price range. OP mentions up to 2500 passengers which would be the ship someone called smaller, Brilliance. OP also mentions ships being so big that they can only port at major harbor locations. Lets call Brilliance medium sized since it has about 2500 ish passengers..Same with Celebrity Millenium Class. They still have to port at major harbors and ports. They can't for example dock in Hamilton, Bermuda or St. Georges, Bermuda it has to dock at the Royal Navel Dockyard in Bermuda. There is not much advantage to medium sized ships as to ports and locations they can visit.
  23. The fees for those are because they have a sim card and have to connect to cell service.
