  1. So a lot of Canadians don’t have passports. Of course the percentage of Canadians is going to be higher because you can’t come to the US without a passport. Many Canadians vacation in the US or have business in the US. So you have a greater need for a passport.
  2. There is no complete refusal of Americans to get passports. A majority of American adults have passports. Americans don’t need passports for many cruises. Americans can choose those cruises. Pretty simple.
  3. That has been suggested on the other thread. It is his girlfriend that does not have a passport. Hopefully he will calm down enough to have her try and get a passport.
  4. I read that thread. It is unfortunate but he screwed up. He won't take responsibility. I won't post on that thread because the poster is angry so far does not get it. The document requirements for non-closed loop cruises are listed on the NCL website and also are well known. Why would he think a birth certificate is good? Passports are always required for international travel exceot for the closed loop cruise exception. The cruise is clearly not closed loop. A long time NCL cruiser should have known. Also all the cruise lines make it the cruisers responsibility to know what documents are requires. No way that can know every individuals situation.
  5. That is true. On the smaller than Oasis Class ships I have often found it difficult to get a lounger in the Solarium. My reason for preferring the Solarium is that I don’t want to hear the music or the noisy pool games.
  6. Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class ships have the most pools I have seen.
  7. When I was at Barefoot Beach a few years ago it was not he same. It was an upgrade with shrimp etc. but it would not surprise me if they had cut it back. I have not been there this year.
  8. If you go to Labadee on Celebrity the lunch spread is better than RC's at Labadee.
  9. They charge for the zip line and Dragons Tail coaster. I thought it was worth it for the coaster. No charge to walk the trail to Dragons Lookout. no charge for either market unless you buy. They also charge for the Waverunner excursion. There are also kayaks that you can rent. Never done that.
  10. They don’t sell iPhones because they can’t activate them at sea on country specific carriers and also because there are different models made for different regions.
  11. If they had guest internet must have been added since my last visit. I have not been there this year. The excursions outside were always very limited and none ever interested me. The only one I ever did was the wave runners. That was a blast and we went up the coast about 20 mikes far enough to see the Citidal from the ocean. Wonder if ther still do that tour?
  12. There is a zip line which I have never done, not interested but the Dragons Coaster is fun. At one end of the compound at Dragons Head I think they call it the geography is cool. There is also an upscale artisans store in the center area where no one bothers you not to mention the market along the road where you can bargain with aggressive vendors.
  13. There never has been guest internet when I was there and guests were never allowed to leave the compound except on excursions. For internet I used my cell roaming plan.
  14. Since version 9 of the Apple Watch just came out a few weeks ago that it is not surprising they had the last version. .
  15. They designed the ships to be green and also use less fuel. The design makes the ships more aerodynamic. Complying with climate regulations trumps customer preferences.
  16. Sincere? I thought her answers were well rehearsed spin.
  17. I have been on sailings where kids ran down the hallway knocking on all the doors. One sailing some kids went down the halls and removed the breakfast room service request cards from the cabin doors.
  18. She told me her doctor said one drink was okay. All I could do was roll my eyes.
  19. I saw a woman nursing a baby while drinking a cocktail.
  20. I agree there’s no rule that children can’t be sitting at the bar. No written but children sitting at the bar taking up space with crayons and coloring books, the mother is rude and self centered. The bar is there for drinking. One thing about rules. You can’t anticipate everything people will do that is wrong and write a rule. Many rules are unwritten.
  21. Good to know. I had assumed that other lines had plugged it like Celebrity and Royal had.
  22. Apparently not. Someone has posted they can still use iMessage on Princess and NCL without purchasing WiFi.
  23. The WiFi charges on Celebrity are much higher for the same service than on Royal Caribbean. That makes it look like included WiFi is a better deal than it actually is. As far as drinks I don’t drink much, sail solo, and always have small charges for drinks. So I don’t book with AI rates. I can see the drink package might be a value for couples.
  24. In the app where it asks where you are going put Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.
  25. Likely the employee was doing what she was told to do by her boss. Liquor stores are afraid of losing their license so they can be dogmatic and give employees strict instructions. When I buy wine at Target I have to show my DL even though I am obviously a senior. That’s how they make sure an employee does not screw up by requiring a DL without exception. There is no law that says the business has to accept Passports as proof of age.
