  1. Arranging tours has always been on the roll calls although from time to time there have been abusers doing it for profit. I have never done the arranging but I have joined a number put togehter on the roll call and it always went well. Selling t-Shirts and parapernalia though you should report to the moderators.
  2. No you can't assume that. Some countries use Euros and others don't.
  3. Very true but for some reason the hot tubs often seem to be full of small kids. And they stay for a long time. The 15 minute sign is actually well meaning. Hot tubs should not be used longer than 20 minutes and that is for adults. Under five should not be in the hot tub. Older kids should not be in long.
  4. Thanks for the tip. I usualy fly Southwest but I have about 99,000 AA Advantage points and $200 in AA gift certificates. I looked at that car service site and you have to have six minimum and it was I think $1600 round trip. I think you have to book rt. Does not seem like a logical choice.....
  5. It means those ship are no longer available for longer itineraries. I have already began moving on but also I have never been loyal to one cruise line.
  6. It changes the character of the cruise line. Next thing you know they will transfer the ships and call them Royal Caribbean with Celebrity style. The Royal Caribbean Group has Royal Caribbean for the glitz niche. I suspect that they are getting more revenue per passenger on Royal Caribbean, reduced food costs etc, less crew per passenger, so the bean counters want that on the Celebrity ships. The logic taken to its end would be end the Celebrity brand.
  7. It is amazing all the alarmist news articles and topics on Cruise Critic that claim Amsterdam is banning cruise ships which is false. The title of this thread is misinformation. They are only planning on moving them to a new terminal which as you say could be years away.
  8. Royal Caribbean confiscated my friends steamer. They do hold. She could have picked it up at the terminal on debarkation but she did not bother.
  9. We considered cruising out of Seattle because round trip air fare was a lot cheaper but wanted to spend a few days in Vancouver because we had never been and heard good things. We enjoyed Vancouver a lot but certainly would sail out of Seattle. I have been there a few times and i like Seattle. I expect our next Alaska cruise will be out of Vancouver only because we are planning a one way combined with a cruise tour. On either Holland or Princess because of their Alaska experience. No way I would do something line that on Royal or Celebrity. Princess also has itineraries that do both Glacier Bay and Hubbard.
  10. Cruise ships have not been banned from Amsterdam. There is a proposal to pursue moving the cruise terminal out of the city center.
  11. The best options would be flying from Dallas to Houston or renting a car and driving. If it were me and I was not driving my own car I would fly Southwest Airlines from Dallas Love airport to Houston Hobby airport.
  12. It is about 300 miles from Dallas to Galveston. Your neighbors should book their flight to one of the Houston airports.
  13. Getting every country to agree would be difficult but there are countries that accept a US issued passport card for land and sea travel. So there is a precedent.
  14. Not a taxi driver but a private tour guide is Heidi Cowan of Byways Travel. https://www.bermudabyways.com
  15. You need to contact an individual driver to book ahead. I had a list but it became outdated post covid.
  16. I did Alaska on Holland America's Volendam. So glad I was able to do Alaska on a smaller ship.
  17. I have more perks on Royal than on Princess but I would never choose an Alaska cruise based on perks. Bottom line is that Royal does not do Glacier Bay.
  18. Holland America and Princess have been doing Alaska for longer than the other mainstream cruise lines. They have an advantage of experience and infrastructure .
  19. That is why I said it would take international agreements. The visas could be electronic but countries would have to agree for that to work. That would involve a lot of countries agreeing.
  20. Or a Tracy Arm excursion. We were right up close to calving glaciers.
  21. So you didn’t research the itinerary? Any cruise lines marketing is going to highlight the positives and omit the negatives. When I was researching Alaska cruises I learned that Royal Caribbean and Celebrity do not do Glacier Bay. So I narrowed down my cruise line choice to Princess and Holland America which go into Glacier Bay. I read a lot of reviews on Cruise Critic and the Alaska port board. I ended up on Holland America which had a great itinerary and the ship went into Glacier Bay. It was wonderful. If you had done due diligence you would not have chosen Ovation for a glacier cruise. I do think you post provides a service. Others might be misled by the marketing. So it is a good warning.
  22. The millennials in my family don’t gamble. Not only they don’t vape they would not use the casino.
