  1. Speaking of the martini bar, I just had an aviation for the first time and thought it was really good. What's the best gin on NCL to make it with? Hendricks?
  2. Typically this is due to taxes / fees in the locality they're in. That to me means it is an NCL decision.
  3. I know someone who got on the Prima today and a letter was awaiting them saying Islafjord was cancelled and they had an overnight in Akureyri instead.
  4. Have you had an old fashioned with Rye instead of bourbon? The rye isn't as sweet and pairs better to me.
  5. Usually when this happens it has to do with being in their waters and subject to that country's taxes. How long did it take you to sail out of Italian waters? If you were in Italian waters until like midnight or 1AM, they probably just chose to shut it down for the night.
  6. Nice jeans and a top is acceptable everywhere. I wear a polo and jeans or khakis to every restaurant, and just put on nicer shoes for Le Bistro 😂
  7. Adding on to our MotoGP fan's post, Le Bistro is the "formal" specialty restaurant on each ship. On Encore, they typically have that dress code on Ocean Blue too when I've been on. Note that many times it does not apply to the first day where you might not have luggage. In addition, the aft MDR on most ships also has the dress code, on Encore that's the Manhattan Room. It's not much of a dress code though like spoken above. Dress code means "smart casual" and inconsistently enforced.
  8. It's not just arrival flight on time. I can't tell you the number of times I would've missed a connection but due to air traffic or weather issues both flights have been delayed and I was fine.
  9. Love US pre-clearance at Shannon and Dublin. Especially when I've flown out of Shannon, there's literally no line and you just walk right through into a domestic US terminal.
  10. Here's the MCT for Delta at Atlanta: STANDARD.D/D...D/I...I/D...I/I. ONLINE .55 1.00 1.30 1.30 OFFLINE .55 1.00 1.30 1.30 You're on a D/I and MCT is 60 minutes. You've got 33% more time then that. You should be totally fine pending a ridiculous delay.
  11. AF's Schengen to International at CDG is 60 minutes, so you fall within the guidelines. You should be fine assuming no delays, and if there are, it's AF's responsibility to rebook you.
  12. If it's not booked the right way by a 3rd party, or flight schedules change and the computer doesn't catch it, especially when working with multiple airlines or codeshares, it's absolutely possible to get connecting flights below the MCT. I've had it happen to me and it's all over flyertalk.
  13. https://easycdg.com/passenger-information/transit-connecting-flight-connections-paris-cdg-airport/ Looks like MCT is one hour for the same terminal and an hour and a half of switching terminals. I would check your flights to make sure they comply with the MCT. If not, call NCL back and get it changed. If they do, then they're valid and you just have a tight layover.
  14. According to info I found on the port's page, it appears as though they supply tenders (or at least can). I do wonder if it's a capacity issue with ships already scheduled to tender.
  15. I found this page on the city website: https://www.isafjordur.is/is/thjonusta/samgongur/hafnir/skemmtiferdaskip/skemmtiferdaskip-2023 There's two parts to this page. One is the calendar, the other is the schedule below. It seems like they might keep the calendar up to date because there's no calls for the prima in June. The schedule below had some scheduled. The dock that's under construction and was supposed to be completed in 2023 is Sundabakki 2. Supposedly they were going to have phases that allowed bigger ships to dock as they built which could explain why some are docking. I can't find info online as to the progress unfortunately. If you look at the calendar, there are still port calls on the schedule for July for the Prima, including the next sailing. I'll be interested to see if it makes it, and if not, how quickly the calendar gets updated.
  16. It sounds like the Marriott was really accommodating to you honestly. The way the hotel industry works, technically NCL is their customer when you book 3rd party (or even Expedia or Booking if NCL books that way, which is likely, so another partner in the mix). In most of Europe, there are extra charges if you go above a two-person occupancy rate. I'm looking at the Lisbon Marriott site right now. They do have two different King room types, one that's been renovated (Superior King), and one that's cheaper and hasn't (Deluxe King). Difference is about 23 Euros. When you change to 3 people, it only lets you book Superior King or better when you book direct. They also warn you that the rate you're booking is for single or double occupancy, and more people will result in extra charges. Either way, my feeling is this is all pretty normal for Europe, and one of the reasons I'll never book a hotel through a cruise line. You've got to be careful which room you book and the differences between room levels (a normal King room can vary wildly in quality between regular, superior, etc in Europe). NCL booking 3rd party grabbed you the base level, non-remodeled room. Given the Marriott direct only lets parties of 3 adults or more stay in the Superior room, that one is on NCL. And with the way the hotel industry works, NCL probably got it through Expedia or Booking at a discounted rate, and the hotel only gets a virtual card authorized for the exact amount and date of your say for what they picked, so it's not like they can just upgrade you and charge the difference or change or reservation. Both the reservation and payment are controlled by a 3rd party, and it's probably at a rate of about ~75%. NCL also didn't let you know there would be a charge for a 3rd person. That's pretty common for Europe, but it's also their responsibility to do it, not the hotel's, since you're NCL's customer and NCL is the hotel's customer when booking through a 3rd party. While booking 3rd party can show good deals, it also causes a lot of problems, between system integrations, 3rd parties never fully having the correct Hotel description / policies, Room types and descriptions being wrong at times, etc. Expedia Group and Booking Group both have these problems all the time, and they'll overbook hotels, and other such non-sense. A lot of times, Expedia and Booking completely control the listing info (not the hotel), so it's them writing up the inaccurate info. If I ever book 3rd party (and I do some), I always trust the hotel's website for info (never the 3rd party), understand the risks, and then book if I think the reward outweighs the risk. If you're booked 3rd party and they oversell, you're the one getting walked. Of course, if you have two separate cabins and reservations, and the one you bought a hotel room on only has two adults instead of three, then this might be on you and not NCL. I'm assuming not based on your message, but also wanted to throw that out there.
  17. I've had this happen before too - the FAS+ messes up their accounting systems. I book through CAS, but last time this happened I had to have three people look at it before they were able to explain why correctly. It seems to work differently if you booked shore excursions before adding FAS+ vs after. When you booked it before, their shoreex system automatically refunds you, but when you book it after, you get the discount up front. If that's a concern, in the future, I would probably book FAS+ before Shore Excursions.
  18. I did the Louie tasting when on the Encore a couple years ago in the Haven. Really good to try once, but don't think I'll pay for it again, and definitely didn't do a whole shot.
  19. I agree, it's way better to carry on but sometimes that's tricky when flying.
  20. A good option from the NCL wine list is using your 40% off to purchase good wine. Upgrading to P+ the wine list isn't great, but you can get almost liquor store prices for Jordan. Can get a Don Melchor too.
  21. I can definitely drink WP 10 on the rocks, but totally get where you're coming from with the bite. In that same price range I've really started liking Barrel Seagrass and The Nobleman recently, great ryes. Wish they had WP18... so good. I will say though WP10 makes an amazing rye old fashioned.
  22. Airlines are cracking down on skip lagging, but it's generally not a problem if you actually cancel the last leg with the airline once you've landed, in this case ATL. Because they're picking up luggage in ATL this would be possible, otherwise not.
  23. I use Firefox all the time with NCL.com and it works fine. Edge also uses Chromium as a rendering engine, just like Chrome, so shouldn't be many differences between the two. I'd HUCA and try to hit the shorex department and just book what you want over the phone. They've been having issues with their shore excursions website for months now on and off.
  24. Bruce had too much to drink and turned into a jerk, that's what I reckon
