  1. The five-pointed star on the deck plans indicates an ambulatory accessible cabin (or suite in this case). There may be extra or more substantial grab bars in the bathroom and that is what bdd123 was asking about in the other thread (and probably why you have two sets of hooks, one being lower down).
  2. When I emailed Guest Relations, I received a 'bounce' answer " Due to the ongoing, unprecedented worldwide situation, we are experiencing a higher-than-normal volume of calls and emails, and as a result, our response time is also longer than usual. Requests are handled in the order received, and we apologize for any inconvenience. I'm looking for a phone number to set up Roll Calls, but so far I did find some numbers for YOUR questions: Accessible Cruising Phone: 800–547–8493 or 206–281–3535 (ext. 4514) TTY: 800–254–8669 Oh, here is mine: For other concerns please write or fax to: Guestrelations@hollandamerica.com Phone: 1‐800‐599‐8256 or 206‐626‐7393
  3. Hi again! Just saw that @johnmik1 is in the correlating cabin on the Rotterdam right now! He posted a pic of the wall hooks and might be asked for closer pics of the grab bars/access in the bathroom?!!
  4. Yes but he stated he is in ambulatory-accessible cabin 7085 and bdd123 was asking about the handrails in the bathroom of that very cabin (yes in another thread). I guess I could and should have linked him to that one!
  5. John -- this is really something where private messaging would come in handy but since we don't have that as an option -- @bdd123 was asking about this very accessible cabin on the Nieuw Statendam, specifically the safety handrails in the bathroom.
  6. The site won't even let me log in right now, but usually all of the 'perks' are for only the first two pax in a cabin. Which is pretty on when one of the perks is the beverage package -- normally needing to be purchased for ALL adults in a room!
  7. I did just notice it says "Available on Select Sailings". Silly of them not to start the Holiday arrangements right after T-giving! Not even the trees??? Guess that leaves your artificial tree -- or get some "picks" and purchase something that IS available with red and green and spruce it up?
  8. I found this video, but cannot make out any seat in shower, presume they could supply one... I think it is a very nice suite! Good luck getting anything by e-mail from HAL -- Maybe someone has a phone number for you.
  9. I'm not recommending anything, but I thought it was spooky that this article came up in my MSNBC feed today: https://www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/beauty/at-62-jennifer-grey-opens-up-about-hair-loss-i-didn-t-know-what-was-going-on/ar-AA13WDfy?
  10. https://weatherspark.com/ "just off the coast" on the map is (1) not necessarily where the ship will be, and (2) farther off than it looks.
  11. I am seeing NINE holiday theme arrangement for my 29 Dec sailing, plus the three sizes of Xmas tree. I have read on CC recently that no, you can't carry on your own flowers or have them delivered.
  12. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. I have experienced cabins showing on both legs of a B2B but not showing for the combined collectors cruise. My PCC couldn't see it either! had to call "Inventory". Also HAL used to hide specific cabins that would still let you book them by putting the room number in the search. I don't know that they are still playing those games, and surely many cabins showing as available (as opposed to NOT showing), can tell you something.
  13. Roger @Crew News's most recent Daily's are here (restaurant hours on the last "page" of each day): https://rogerjett-photography.com/specialty-2/on-locations-specific-cruises/alaska-ms-zuiderdam-7-day-when-where-daily-activities-2022/
  14. Welcome to Cruise Critic! February '23 is getting close! If you can find a stateroom that suits you (I know, that's another question hard to answer without experience, but the Celebrity board referenced above may help), at a price you can live with, I would book. You will be within or very close to "Final Payment Date", which means your entire payment will be due on booking, or very soon. Once you have booked, you can explore shore excursions VS doing it yourself, on this board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/456-caribbean/
  15. This video shows dark wood outside at about 27-second point. Light wood inside.
  16. We are trying Rudi's for the first time on NYE which is also our (32nd) wedding anniversary. I have reservations for the Pinnacle (part of HIA) on both legs of the B2B. Planning Canaletto as often as possible but waiting until onboard to use OBC. First time on Pinnacle Class Ship so looking forward to Grand Dutch Cafe as well.
  17. Have transport waiting for you, whether it is Uber or limo or ??? Do NOT count on a taxi being handy. When we disembarked in 2013 the line was LONG and SLOW. I can't imagine it has gotten better... The private transport was at a separate island with no line at all.
  18. I want to try these next cruise! Think we will have to eat more than once in Canaletto.
  19. 1: Barcelona, with Copenhagen a close second. 2: Lamb chops, either Pinnacle or Canaletto. Short rib gnocchi (Canaleto). No upcharge: pasta-toss made with double veggies, very little pasta. 3: About the same: plain black bottom, sparkly top. We pack carry-on only too.
  20. Concierge only Neptune and Pinnacle suites, per the "amenities" list on website. If you pay rack-rate for a Vista Suite (as opposed to an up-sell from smaller cabin), you get double mariner points. The positioning of the sofa relative to the bed (and the balcony vs hallway door) can vary, even between decks on the same ship. Halfacts photos may help with that: https://halfacts.com/
  21. My recently-retired family practitioner husband says things to look at are hormone levels (whether you are female or male! increased testosterone, via progestin in women, will do that for either), if female going into menopause, and also just the regular cycle of hair growth and shedding. High TSH would be picked up in routine blood panel, but not the "sex" hormones until specially ordered. He says it was a common complaint in his practice with virtually no treatments!
  22. I read a travel-journalist's account of his first cruise and how he was "forced to do nothing". Our last cruise was Apr/May 2019. You can see all of our cancelled cruises in my expanded signature. We are finally ready to give cruising another try ($8500 in FCC that was going to expire was a factor). We are booked with a mini-suite to use up the $$$ and get most loyalty points. We are not excited about the itineraries (it's a B2B) although the first leg does have two new ports. The important thing with all my current bookings, in the pandemic, is to have our own balcony and not to have to fly. I don't know when your time-off is and if you are also trying not to fly -- sailing from Baltimore maybe? I would vote for the RCL cruise, just consider the cost against all the trips you didn't take earlier in the pandemic!
  23. With your preference for "the cocktail / swimming pool experience", I cannot see either Iceland or Britain as being conducive to your enjoyment. A quick search and RC seems to have a number of cruises that touch on or emphasize Croatia. Do not rule out the older ships: we sailed TransAtlantic on the Rhapsody OTS and it was very nice. And that is coming from a HAL-fan! A good cruiseline does not let their older ships get decrepit. (I'm looking at you NCL.)
