  1. @bobmacliberty I couldn't let another moment go by without telling you how amazing your photos/videos are. So enjoyable. I actually saw where I grew up and the building in mid Manhattan where I worked for 4 years at an advertising company. Looks like your visit to NYC was a resounding success.
  2. Same with us. Hardly anything out of pocket. I hear the insurance guidelines for roof repair has changed not for the better for home owners. As you know, in NY it's called a dusting. We were surprised when we woke up. Luckily, this freezing weather will be gone in 2-3 days. Yes, Houston humidity is crazy high and brutal. I once got off a plane in Houston and as I exited the plane to the jetway there was an inch opening connecting the jetway to the plane and the humidity hit me full force. I could hardly breathe. I don't recall what month it was. Weather is crazy here. Many times, heat in the car in the morning, switching to AC in the afternoon. I think our heat at home went on for the first time this Winter a few short days ago. Crazy!
  3. We lived in Plano before downsizing, across the street from Deerfield area where all the amazing Christmas lights are. In the 15 years we lived there, we only had one weather problem. Due to a hailstorm, we had to install a new roof same as approx. 75% of the unhappy neighbors on my block. Major disappointment for you and Eric, but I predict some amazing trips in your future !
  4. I remember that icy weather in February, I think 2021. We also lived near a hospital and never lost power. I saw no forecast for possible snow here. It's just freezing cold, 12 degrees now. We just got back from Costco. No biggie. Just put on our winter jackets (which I wore less than 10 times here in 20 years). People have been stocking up on essentials and are hunkered down in their homes. To me, this is regular NY Winter not even single digit weather. When we get infrequent snow or ice, that's when I stay in. @A&L_Ont Andrew, best wishes for your mom's total recovery. Stay warm and dry everyone in inclement weather.
  5. Patricia, I love all the pictures that are posted in here. Don't sell yourself short. Your pictures are fabulous. Honest!
  6. I don't really "like" your post knowing you're having a bending setback. Do those needles hurt? Sure hope it helps!
  7. Matt showed how it works but it was just him waiting and entering an elevator. I wonder how it will work when hundreds exit the showroom to get to higher decks. I was actually told (forgot who gave me that tidbit) that when you press an elevator button only one elevator responds which could be why I've seen non-crowded elevators pass my floor without stopping, going in the direction I need to go. Time to heat up dinner I made earlier today. Salisbury Steak with onion/mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes. Ultimate comfort food!
  8. Sounds like the Icon elevators. Not sure about disembark day. Maybe you press the deck you want to disembark from.
  9. Everyone presses the floor they want to go. No down or up buttons. Each deck pressed will list the elevator that will take you to the floor you pressed. Could be the same elevator, could be different ones.
  10. Just you tubed Matt of RC Blog on Icon OTS. He walked through maybe less than 50% of the ship. Elevators are different than anything I have experienced. You don't press an up or down button but press a button of the floor you want to go to. It then lights up the elevator number that will take you to your "destination". When you enter the elevator you press nothing since it's already programmed to what floor you want to get to. I was disappointed with Central Park. Oasis has more greenery and the balconies on Icon all seem to be Infinite balconies with what I think are gaudy colored beachy colored shutters on every single "window". Orange, yellow, lime green, dark green. Just doesn't fit into my idea of a relaxing Central Park vibe. Two story Royal Promenade Absolutely amazing lounge areas all through the ship. For those sailing on Icon, one week won't be enough. RCI builds the most innovative ships for sure, but Jack and I will pass on this one. We prefer smaller ships without the bells and whistles. Families will love it. Kids will be busy all day long. Pictures of the cabins are coming up on Matt's blog.
  11. I share your weather anxiety. Hopefully, our normal weather (50s-60s) will return soon. I worry about ice storms which can cripple the entire DFW metroplex. Stay safe, warm and dry.
  12. Pat, thank you so much for sharing your journey with us. Hard to play catch up in here. I'm only up to page 59 and enjoying every post. No Maine lobster pictures, but Bucky wearing his trusty flip flops and pictures of your adventures sure make up for it. Continue to have sunshine, and smooth sails.
  13. Thank you, Graham. I hope you and Pauline are doing well and enjoying life to the fullest. That goes for all on our wonderful thread that's become our online home for the past 3+ years!.
  14. @Sea Dog Greg, sounds like Linda is doing very well. I got some good advice when I started PT. My therapist told me to take pain meds 30 minutes before starting a session after I moaned and groaned the first time without taking meds. Of course, everyone's post surgery PT is different. Just stating my experience.
  15. @lenquixote66 Lenny @Sunshine3601 Debbie @dani negreanu Dani @Luckynana Maryann @DaniDanielle Marietta @h20skibum Mark Thank you so much for your birthday wishes to Jennifer!
  16. While my daughter (today is her 37th birthday) and son in law in NJ are shoveling snow, I'm here in TX enjoying this wonderful sunny mid 50s weather. So delightful, the only outerwear I needed was a light denim jacket worn open since it was so lovely outside. When I ignore the occasional ice storms, tornadoes, hail, Dallas is really a great place to live. Honest! @dani negreanu Dani, I'm glad your grands are settling in nicely in Amsterdam, and that sirens are beginning to slow down where you are. @Sea Dog Greg, slowly, slowly, after your hernia operation you'll be a tiger. I hope Linda is doing well with pain management.
  17. I just finished watching (on you tube) the sweetest movie starring Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman, 5 Flights Up, released in 2014. Poignant, heartwarming and funny. The lives of a couple looking to sell their apartment in Brooklyn. So wonderful to see the ending credits rolling over the Williamsburg bridge showing the exact building where I grew up in. AND to @FromSea2ShiningSea Helen and Marty, congratulations on your exciting double news!
  18. My post copied from Bella's thread on Floataway: @xpcdoojk So sorry to hear this news. I also enjoyed seeing pictures of your sweet Wellie who lived a long, loving life.
  19. Thanks. I went in and was sorry Renee's post was poofed. That is some war of words in there. I liked your last post. Glad I was able to read it before it was poofed although I see no reason that would happen. Lenny, Florida NY is in Orange County near Middletown NY and borders parts of Northern NJ. It's on the way to the Catskills. @ReneeFLL Renee, it looks like you made quite a dent in your drink list. Quite impressive and I also love your purses. Very artistic.
