If you follow the cruise news, you will find that most all popular cruise lines are cutting back on staffing, food portions and quality and more. I hope you find Royal more to your liking. The Explorer is a great ship and will have been refurbished before your cruise.
Most people will not have to. It's only the overachievers who used to eat 8 lobster tails and / or ordered 2 or 3 entrees at a time who will have a problem. My wife and I usually share meals in most restaurants due to the large portions so on a cruise even the new smaller portions will seem large. My guess is that this is the same for most cruisers.
-servings were not always small. Don't you remember those huge desserts?
-go for it.
-If so then why the new menus at same time as 2nd lobster fee? Haven't you seen photos of new menu entrees? A ice cream scoop of rice and 2.5 to 3 ounces of protein. Nothing like plates of food from the past.
They want you to eat in Windjammer or specialty dining. It's the new 2023 type of cruising! Nothing stopping big eaters from pre-dinner or a 2nd meal in the Windjammer!
There is no win on this for wait staff. Only for Royal. Keep trying to figure out to beat the system and all 2nd entrees will be charged for. Its a cost cutting measure not a challenge to figure out a work around. That thinking (and bragging) is what got us to pay for your 2nd lobster.
I don't think there is going to be any "give away my lobster and order something else." The point is to stop multiple lobster orders. They are monitoring total food per table.
Won't happen. That is just in case they have a no show. In reality Guest Services takes over at that point and no one there has time to mess with it. We get that notice every cruise. At first we waited to unpack... just in case. Now I just cancel my offer when that email arrives. 😞
Back in the day we found a $99 14 night Baltimore to Panama Canal. We had just returned from a cruise but could not pass it up. We were able to pick inside cabin location. Got to see lots of ports, warm weather and toured the Panama Canal. Perfecto.
