  1. I am a Canadian have been checking for visa requirements for our mid January trip. While none is required for Argentina, if a plane lands in Brazil, their rules require disembarkation of all passengers, and even if they all reboard, there is a need for visa. Canadians, Americans, and individuals from Australia and Japan can obtain e-visa. While we have a direct flight from Toronto to Buenos Aires it lands in Sao Paulo, Brazil for a refueling and are required to get off the plane, go through customs and reboard after the plane is fueled, Only my research on you tube and goverment sites has shown this to be true. My experience in other international flights has never run into this. My question to you my fellow travelers, is this your understanding if you have only had a plane stop in Brazil is this your experience.
  2. Both significant other and I wear bi focal glasses. We decided on Googles over sunglasses for two reasons, first to fit over our glasses, and second was to ensure our glasses did not slip off and get lost in the cold Antarctia water. We bought one to test, then the second, both from Amazon. Looking forward to our experience with Atlas in January.
  3. We missed 4 ports on the Transalantic, one due to fog and the other due to Hurricane Lee. No offer of anything to replace it despite several passengers asking.
  4. We were on the VISTA for the transalantic London to NYC followed by a three night stay in NYC and then Insignia NYC-Burmuda_NYC. On both ships we had to open the door to hear the announcements. We were told if set of Channel 25 you can hear them on the TV. Perhaps the hall speaker was outside your door?
  5. There were a small number of individuals, generally older ones, who always were masked. I agree that some who may have had COVID did not either know or did not tell that may have been aboard the Transalantic.
  6. Was just on the Transalantic to NYC. The way to determine COVID postive guests is to look for a small table outside their suite for the deliverance of food. I only saw one suite with the table outside. The wife and I took testing kits and checked every few days (always negative) but half way thru the wife did come down with the flu and now that we are home, I too now have the flu. (Still testing to make sure it is not COVID)

  8. On Vista now, Friday. She missed east coast ports because of Hurrican Lee. The weather today, and projected for a few more days, as sunny with some clouds, It is warm in the sun but need nylon windbreaker for the shady areas.
  9. that is what i understand from this fellow passender. It happened once before, and he said there were TA sleeping (after all thier free drinking) sleeping all over the ship
  10. Aboard Vista now, have heard that Sept 18 will be a Travel Agent Day aboard. No Back to Back, people going on the next one have to spend 2 nights in NYC.
  11. The one constant on O excursions are they are more expensive than purchasing privately. That said, the reseach you do on the O port tours will determin if appeal to you. We love the food related ones and find those very good to excellent. We also watch the time in port to ensure, if we choose a private tour, that there is lots of time to get back aboard before the ship leaves.
  12. Wet towels around the neck will assist with controlling body overheating. It is approaching a Health and Safety issue. If no update response from Captain, suggest contacting CDC.
  13. On one Oceania cruise I had brought 2 bottles of well aged Canadian Ice Wine. Shares it with our table mates and the sommelier as the way she was looking at the wine as she pour it. I just knew she would love to taste it. Providing that tasting sample to her, we never were charged the corkage fee.
  14. I checked in for Vista Transalantic today around 2 and there were only times from noon on. In A2 cabin. Know from experience that suites are released from top category down. Oceania provides early lunch in Terrace Cafe until all rooms are ready.
  15. We board for the Transalantic on Aug 30th. Thanks for the long but very valuable review. We have sailed with O four times before, from inside to Concerige. Food is such a personal thing, your resturant reviews were exceptionally balanced. Food quality, new friends and small ship size are the reasons we love O. Looking forward to sharing our trip with everyone as well.
  16. LHT: They are held in the spa as SunLover12 has stated. Usually 3 to 5 prizes handed out to those still there after the tour.
  17. They usually have come visit contests in the spa area (have to be there to win) and the restuarants run longer hours into the afternoon until all rooms are avaiable.
  18. Thank you for your responses. It certainly appears a better website improvements are high in the priority list of AOV and I welcome that. If launched prior to January, I would be happy to critique the beta is preparation of my January sailing.
  19. I notice that this is true now for over two months. I have to go to plan a crusie and seek out my cruises. It is not a weekend update issue, it is a change to programming.
  20. To improve sales these questions so far show: -a substatial need for improvements to the web presence including for booked passengers. -an improvement is client service both by telecommunications, internet, and on board (although it appears the onboard staff are providing what they can within the existing policies guidelines) The way to measure sucess in this area is the growth in bookings and client referrals. The sooner you act the better sales.
  21. There is a need for a better Client Focused (log in) site for your clients. As a former Oceania executive, you should know the importance of online information for prospective and current booked clients. I honestly believe the investment would generate more bookings, excursions, and less calls to TA's and your customer service area. Hence the question: When can we expect a customer focused web site?
  22. My wife and I are booked for January 15th World Traveller Antartic adventure. We are looking forward to the trip despite the projected 2 to 3 degree celus weather. In watching various YouTube trips by Atlas and your competitiors, it is clear that weather really effects these cruises, and because it changes both daily and hourly, the Captain and crew make landing decisions based on their experience. This leads me to my question: Is there ever an Antarctica Altas voyage that has no landing due to the weather? If there is such a non landing voyage, what is Atlas protocol for guests.
  23. Had it confirmed that the Hilton Buenos Aires (also referred to Puerto Madero Hilton) is the one for this coming Antartic season. We are flying in on January 10th, several days before boarding World Traveler on Jan 15th. Nancy and I are looking for individuals interested in sharing Buenos tours prior to getting on the Charter Flight. Anyone interested? Never been to there before.
  24. We are booked for a January 2024 Antartica cruise. Our first with Atlas, we usually sail Oceania. I agree communications are limited even with the use of a TA. That said, we are amazed at the number of YouTube blogs about Atlas and the Antartica. We did watch many before deciding to book. Thier 2 for 1 sale was the item that sold us. (we were considering Viking as we wanted to actually set foot on Antartica). Their web site is good for sales information, but really lacks in a personal log in page with information on your personal cruise (similar to other major lines). I believe if they added the personal information log in with information including booking of excursions it would improve the situation.
  25. Wanted to add to the speculation that everyone is offering up. We have been OLife bookers, always the excursions. (Once was upgraded to Ultimate though my spouse is a very limited drinker. A bottle of wine lasts her three days. Due to meds, I am not a drinker). My cloudy chrystal ball indicates they may be moving in the direction of other upper middle providers such as Viking and provide wine and beer with meals, a free excursion in each port, and air fare (which they will continue to offer $ back for if doing own air). Despite my shaking the chrystal ball, it does not stop being cloudy, so I guess we will find out shortly from the TAs.
