  1. We are strong supporters of Oceania, and will if price and location is correct consider them. We are booked on Vista for her Transatlantic this summer. That said we really wanted to visit and set foot on Antarctica and Oceania only does sail by. After a lot of research we narrowed it down to National Geographic, Oceania and Atlas. Atlas won out by price by a country mile. We are booked for January 15 2024 and looking forward to everything but the cold.
  2. We are planning our trip for January 2024. I see they have two hotels listed in their information package to purchase pre and post trip. Which Hotel does Atlas use for their one day prepaid hotel stay in Buenos Aries? If you arrive a day earlier, do they leave you in the hotel you choose to stay in at your own cost if it is one of the two hotels they offer up?
  3. I can offer my humble opinion. The number of pages you will require depends on the countries you are visiting that require you to carry your passport. A lot of O cruises we have been on Oceania holds your passport unless you need it to go ashore. Most of the time the Custom Inspectors who review your passports on board do not stamp them. Just something to consider. I am Canadian, and the government recommends having 6 blank pages.
  4. I currently support the one thread concept as Atlas only has a few ships currently. Splitting it out in the future when they reach 4 to 5 ships.
  5. Thanks for sharing the valuable info. We are booked on the 2024-01-15 sailing and had the same issue with finding the My Atlas numbers for myself and spouse. There is a good 2+ hour video we saw on YouTube about a trip on Atlas. We had been looking at National Geographic and Viking and because of the 2 for 1 chose Atlas, This will be the 7th Continent for me as well. We are hoping for good weather, Drake Lake, and one night sleeping on shore.
  6. Yes there are cutbacks and higher option costs. However, where Oceania excels (in my personal opinion and that of my spouse) is the front line staff go out of their way to make or keep you in the satisfied to wonderful zone for the whole voyage. As foodies and as parents of a high end executive chef, the food is wonderful.
  7. I have a different question about what is provide for our use on board. Almost all the YouTube videos show individuals using walking sticks, Are these provided for free on board?
  8. if happens on a sea day and weather is not too rough it happens. Costumed staff bring the cod to be kissed.
  9. If not alcohol drinkers, avoid the alcohol OLife, You are right it is for meals only. If you have made plans for private excursions for all but 2, I would take the OBC. OBC can be used for purchases onboard and advance payment for the excursions and other onboard activities including the very occasional drink. Coffee is free perk as is still or sparking water.
  10. While all the rooms are the same size (a few have slightly larger balconies), so you have to look at the additional perks of Concierge to determine if the increased price is worth it. If bookings are for the restaurants, an "A" will have priority over all suites below it. So, more chance of getting in that evening. For the larger ships, you have access into the Concierge Lounge where you can get pastries and coffee or tea 24/7 and use of the Concierge when she/he is there (hours are posted). You also have access to Aquamar Terrace & restricted pool area, to date we have never used it. Depending on the intensity of ports vs sea days has us looking at Concierge for voyages with lots of sea days, but if port intensive we go for a "B" for longer cruises and an Inside for short 7/8 day cruises.
  11. This may be true, however it maybe because full payment is due. Lots of cruisers book and then do not go forward when the full payment is due. However, those waiting, who have not put down a deposit, will pay the going price, which is higher due to Oceania increasing prices every 3 to 4 months. The first four Vista cruises were cancelled due to construction delays. These boards are full of issues with first sailings of new ships, with construction continuing while they cruise.
  12. Vista is sold out until December 2023. I booked the Transatlantic the day booking opened, It was sold out by day 3. Nevertheless, I have been seeing people post they have cleared the waiting list at least once a week on these boards. From what I have read on these boards over the last ten years is the suggestion that Oceania moves those with deposits up the waiting list before those who do not have a deposit down.
  13. Both I (for 25 years) and my Wife (20 years) use CPAP machines and have never had a problem. Was surprised on our first Oceania cruise, when after we set up the machines and left for supper & show, came back to fine a large bottle of distilled water on the desk. We have always taken marine multiplugs for this and charging of our computers and cell phones. (Available on Amazon). Just before COVID hit we bought the Travel CPAP and now use them when traveling instead of the big ones at home. We did invest in the battery, but only used it once on overnight plane trip to Australia, and not since.
  14. It did not really help at all. Only did it because wife insisted. It was on a Baltic Cruise. Although, it did feel good immediately after the session but not by the next day.
  15. Last cruise I used the Acupuncturist for my knee. Did inquire about his licensing and was assured he was licensed. Did ask for a receipt showing that and was promised would receive after the sessions. Despite requesting three times after sessions completed, was finally told he did not have one. Buyers beware.
  16. Nancy and I (Gerry) have booked for Jan 14, 2024, for 9 day (10 with free hotel stay). Did a lot of research over the last year, was convinced about safety and activities by a YouTube blog on an Atlas trip, and the low prices, to try them out. Really looking forward to it.
  17. We have been Oceania cruisers for a decade but want to check off the last continent on my check list. Not a sail by but an actual landing. I notice not much current information on Atlas on the CC boards. Their current advertising shows costs about half of their competitors. I realize they are relatively new cruise line. If you have been on the World Traveler, I welcome your comments.
  18. We did it in Copenhagen and transfers were included this past summer. An Oceania/NCL/Regent agent was located just before the luggage carousels. She arranged a limo driver to take us to the hotel. Even more important, our luggage did not make the short hop from Paris, and she worked with us to file the missing luggage report on the spot. We received the two bags the next day, mind in the morning and Wife's in the evening.
  19. Some countries require your last shot to be not less than 270 days from embarkation. Check the fine print in the requirements.
  20. If you take Olife, the airfare is included (plus one other item choice). It is part of O's calculate fee. Deviation of flight is 30 days either side, but costs $175 pp per flight to and from. We always take the premium economy when purchasing the trip. In our experiences there is no additional cost beyond the $175 if we choose other flight dates. That Premium Economy price is substantially cheaper that doing it ourselves. Note the Premium Economy is only for the international flight portions of the airfare.
  21. Most Drug Stores in Quebec will do the test. Depending on type same day to 24 hours, some in minutes.
  22. LHT28 is correct. It is bolted in place.
  23. We were on a Baltic Cruise in July 2022. The food was great, but some menu items were not available due to supply chain issues. Even at our local supermarkets have had items that just they can not get from suppliers. I truly believe O wants to provide great culinary experiences, but as the ships travel around the world, their supply chain will not be back to par for a while. I am happy they don't offer up stale, moldy, or rotting food (perhaps with the exception of blue cheese)
  24. base on past O refit experiences, the small ships are out 2 to 3 week, larger 3 to 5.
