  1. I've done it to Linda. It was alright,,I think we did the seedy parts of town though:rolleyes: I was apprehensive because I had bought a guide book which said,,and I quote,," Naples ,where teenage gangs high on crack cocaine gun down innocent tourists in the wrong place" I can honestly say I never want to go again! Go to the Isle of Capri and drool over the stuff no normal person can afford in the shops:cool:

  2. We sail on the 12th August ,,I'm not happy about being anywhere in Turkey! I was planning on the Ephesus trip but not now. The world has gone completely bananas. I'm hoping for another change in the itinerary personally. If they still go there I doubt I'll get off the ship.

  3. Hi Linda,,didn't do the ship trip but I do know from experience that it is nigh on impossible to just rock up on the day and get in to the sagrada familia! The ticket queue is for tomorrow's tickets not same day. Everybody pre books now,,'twas the same at the Vatican.,,and the uffizi gallery in Florence. Barcelona is great innit:D fabulous place.

  4. Has anybody been to Ephesus from cesme? I'm looking at it for our upcoming trip. I'm not keen on being in Turkey at all really but want to see Ephesus. The ships excursion indicates a 2 hour coach journey each way with only around an hour and a half actually in Ephesus itself. Would that be enough time to see it,do it ,,appreciate what I'm seeing etc? I'm thinking its pompei- ish,,am I right? I would never consider Turkey as a holiday destination so this is probably my one chance to see it. Any input greatly appreciated:)

  5. I have previously viewed and booked them on an iPad. Can't remember how I got in though!

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

That's the problem innit! I don't remember having this trouble on previous occasions. It's most annoying really cos the clock is ticking and I want to get a couple booked, but I like to study them carefully,,read between the lines etc and do my own research,,then decide,,then book. I'm sure that the last time we did a Thomson cruise there was a thing on the cruise section that clearly said " shore excursions" and you just tapped on it and hey presto there they all were. Oh well,c'est la vie I suppose.

  6. I've done the lublyjubly tour, I seem to remember a fair bit of walking on cobbled streets, not many steps but very narrow cobble streets. It is indeed very very beautiful. After that we went on to lake bled which was even more breathtakingly,,heartbreakingly beautiful,,and up to some castle overlooking the lake that's been there millions of years,,I think Dracula was mentioned! 'Twas a great day out.

  7. Hi pc,,,sorry,,yes I found them eventually! I have no idea how I got there though,,I went with the route you said but it didn't get me there,,I went round and round and must have found a back door! The clever thing will be to find my way back into them again. Someone suggested it might be an iPad thing?

  8. Why is everyone packing gold bars

My pack for 14 nights on Discovery was 15kg check in including posh jacket and 4 kg carry on including all my paperwork, medications, electrical gear, camera, rain jacket etc etc. :)

That's cos you are a bloke Dave !! You didn't have to pack 10 pairs of shoes and a different frock for every night:D very impressive though. I keep my hand luggage down to a small bag but I always have the extra 5kg luggage allowance and it's always almost to the limit:rolleyes: I couldn't travel light if my life depended on it!

  9. No,,if there's a night when there is a black tie dress code then we will participate,,we always do but we don't usually cruise in high summer and haven't been on the dream or other Thomson ship for about 3 years now,,been enjoying the P&O offerings. I'll pack a frock and make the effort but doubt very much my Adypoos will want to wear his DJ in such Greek heat! Actually, I'll have to really think this through cos we are having a week on a beach after the cruise so I'd probably rather take more beachwear than fancy evening wear,,hmmm,,decisions decisions:rolleyes:

  10. Thank you :D I do like positivity! It just seemed like every review was bad bad bad. I go with the attitude of,,I'm on holiday, I'm not at work,,I'm not dead,,I am lucky to have such a nice holiday,,I'm with my lovely husband in the sunshine,,what's not to like? :) not going to read anymore reviews. It will be absolutely fabulous!

  11. Am really regretting reading Dream reviews! Come on all Dreamers,,tell me how wonderful she is!! Please:cool: I know she's not uber modern and new but why are there so many complaints?? Doing Agean shores in August and really looking forward to it,,new places to visit and new ship to explore. Yes,,I know Corfu airport is a total shambles:rolleyes: what do we think about the turkey port cesme?? Am planning on doing Ephesus from there,,never been Turkey at all ,,it's really not on my wish list,,apart from Ephesus,,is it considered " safe" ? Has anybody been?

  12. Just booked this cruise for me and Mr cappears for 12th August ,,really looking forward to it,,only been to Crete but that was 28 years ago on our honeymoon! Not been on the dream either so that's new as well! Not really a fan of Corfu but having a week on a beach after the cruise for a rest,,a beach is a beach innit!

  13. Just got off Britannia this morning after a fabulous week in the fjords:D my favourite 3 things would be ,,the sunset bar,,but wish it was no smoking,,the crows nest,,for the gins and cocktails,,and the sheer size and elegance of her! Oh,,and the lovely big wide open decks.

  14. I'm here now,,in flam today,,on the Norway in a nutshell tour which is very good by the way..the weather is gorgeous,,very very pleasant,,almost too hot!! It really is very warm and sunny,,but there is still snow on the mountain tops. North Sea hasn't been too bad so far either,,Britannia lovely ship. Having fabulous week.
