  1. Ah but Blackpool has donkeys & candy floss, and the bracing Blackpool air :D

Yes but,,,Benidorm has the legend that is sticky Vicky ,,photo opps with Mateo the waiter ,,at least 2 Elvis's,,should that be Elvi ( plural) and my absolute favourites,,Shoewaddywaddy!!

  2. Good morning everyone. I'm off on Britannia on Sunday to the fjords and have been on a waitlist for an excursion in andalsnes but have heard nothing about it. I was led to believe I would get an email and then would just have to go into personaliser and complete the booking. As we are now only a few days away I'm assuming it's not happening...in your combined vast experiences am I probably guessing right?? Am quite happy to book something directly ,,rauma railway trip,,but quite liked the look of the excursion I'm on the list for. I can't be bothered to keep ringing p & o cos one person tells you one thing and another tells you another thing.

  3. Thanks - had forgotten about the covered pool :-)

I suppose we are unsure as it is a mini cruise and as we have quite a journey to get to Southampton we are trying to decide if the 3 days will be worth it or of we stay on land .... mmm.

Sadly, we a re not in the delta quadrant ;-)

Just do it! What will you do if you stay at home?? If you are teachers that probably means lesson plans and marking and endless other stuff that nobody realises you do! My son is a maths teacher in a secondary school so I see first hand how hard teachers really work. You could have a night or two down south before the cruise? Make a longer trip of it. Bournemouth,,Poole,,the new forest,,Portsmouth,,all within an hour of Southampton. We've got friends in Poole and Southampton area so we always come down the day before to see at least one of them.,,it's a long way from the delta quadrant!

  4. I've done quite a few of the 2,3 and 4 nighters now,,I love them! Done them on Azura ,,Ventura and Britannia ,,Azura wins hands down!! Although Ventura does have the covered pool,,but Azura has the sea screen,,Hmmm,, which is best,,only one way to find out,,as Harry hill would say!

  5. I have to comment here,,when I was on Britannia a few weeks ago there were cleaners everywhere on my way back to the cabin,,it was well after midnight though as I had enjoyed myself immensely in Brodies! I think as far as the hand gel/ washing is concerned that p&o staff have kind of given up trying to enforce it as some folks take offence when asked to do it don't they! Can't speak for the American boats but Thomson staff are usually pretty hot on making you do your hands.

  6. Just in case anyone is still looking to book the Flam railway,,,I tried to book it a couple of days ago for 2nd June when I'll be there on Brittannia and it is sold out until late afternoon which I presume is around Sailaway time! Ship's tour is also sold out. Have booked Norway in a nutshell at exorbitant cost cos it includes the flam railway,,that is now limited availability if anyone is interested.

  7. Found it!! Many thanks John. I think it will be fine, it's not nearly as bad as I feared,,only a " white platform and 2 White posts" well below eye level though. That's put my mind at rest but I'm still annoyed at the glitch in the booking system. I know 100% what I booked and I'm not getting it.,,but I am getting a fantastic trip to Norway with my lovely husband on a fabulous ship so I've built a bridge and I'm over it!

  8. Is this the fjords cruise sailing on May 29th? I'm on that one,,,I have a problem with my cabin assignment and only found out late last night. We paid for an unobstructed view balcony cabin,,and they've given us G deck obstructed view. I know how to book a cruise and I know what I booked,,I checked those deck plans inside out. We don't care what deck we are on or where our cabin is really,,I just want what I booked and paid for. I'm going to have to ring them when I get home from work but I'm not expecting anything! Any suggestions anybody? Funnily enough, I had this happen on the last Britannia booking I did and had to ring up and get someone to correct it. In that instance their system only wanted me to have obstructed view cabins but was happily taking my money for a higher grade. I know it's not me!

  9. I was on Britannia a couple of weeks ago and yes I agree that the atrium is not as it should be on such a nice big ship. There was no music, no atmosphere, no life at all really,,just photographers and waiters! It's a beautiful ship but definately lacks azura's elegance and style. I'm on Britannia again in a couple of weeks to the fjords and am obviously looking forward to it cos it's away,,it's not work,, but do find myself wishing I had booked Azura. Am cross as well cos have been given the wrong cabin grade we paid for so have that argument to come!

  10. I was looking at Fjordland Splendours on the Spirit earlier. I yearn to go to Norway, I want to see the midnight sun,,always have. I was also drooling over the Arctic Affair as well. No-one is available to come with me though.,and I can't afford the single fares.

  11. I did this trip in April Molly. I enjoyed it but my husband got a bit of travel sickness as the drive up the mountains is very steep and twisty turny! That little village that was mentioned Pamp,,,something is lovely and some nice shops to mooch around in but you don't get much time up there before moving on to the next place,,where you don't get any time at all but are marched from one end of the village to the other. It's a nice little trip out but could possibly do with being a bit longer to allow more time to just savour the sheer beauty of the area.

  12. Good evening folks,,hope we are all in fine form. Who amongst you knows whereabouts Rome's Termini station is in relation to all the main sights? I know someone will! I'm taking my daughter to Rome for 3 nights for her 21st birthday and every hotel I look at says it's near the Termini station but I don't know Rome well enough to be able to put it into perspective.

  13. Well,,what a fantastic week we had didn't we:D I loved it, everywhere was new to me so that made it more interesting I suppose! Loved Morrocco, will have to go back and see a bit more of it. We went up into the Alpujarras mountain region from Motril and it was just beautiful.

The journey home was a pain though. East Midlands was closed all day due to a cargo plane having had a bit of a crash landing and being stuck on the runway. We waited a good 8 hours at Palma for a flight home to Manchester! Didn't find out about it until we got to the airport and were told to check in and go to the Thomson desk where they gave us a drinks voucher for 16euros and told us the bad news. We finally left about 4.30pm and arrived at Manchester to be told by staff to wait in the arrivals hall where there would be an announcement about our transfers back to East Mids. Not a Thomson rep in sight,,and a good hour later with around 200 people all still hanging around some airport staff must have decided to see what was wrong and we then discovered we were in the wrong place and should have been up in the departure areas where the coaches were going round and round waiting for us all! Tempers frayed and people shouted at airport staff and it was a bit of a farce...particularly when some people were so determined to get on the first coach they were pushing and shoving everyone out the way. We should have been home by lunchtime but it was just after 10pm when we finally pulled on the drive! I think East Mids, which is just 10 mins away for me has re-opened this afternoon. An annoying end to an otherwise fabulous holiday,,but at least no-one was badly hurt in that plane crash.

RR,,glad your dad is ok! My M-I-L is sort of ok,,in a poor form but not as bad as she was.
