  1. I have been trying to book using the shore excursion credit (there is another thread about it here). I booked and canceled several times. In each case the credit was restored immediately.
  2. That is a decision only you can make. If money is the major consideration, I think you made your decision already.
  3. I don't know the specific answers to your questions. But, Rome Hop on, hop off is not recommended here, unlike other cities. First, due to small streets in many areas, the bus can't get close in many places. Secondly, the buses are usually very busy, and it has been reported to be difficult to get back on the bus when needed. Third, many of the most popular sights are is pretty close proximity, so they can be walked easily. We do hop on hop off in many cities. But from what I have seen in Rome, and what has been reported here, I wouldn't do it in Rome. Perhaps a better idea is to take Celebrity's "Rome on your own" bus, where they will drop you need the major sites, and you can walk most of them.
  4. We were 4 Star, now 5. In 2022, in 3 cruises, we never had a boarding time before 1:30. We were actually on board before noon all 3 cruises.
  5. Discussed here quite frequently. Uber/Lyft. Shuttles. Cruise line transport. Last choice would be taxi.
  6. Been many reports here that a), check in times change very frequently, and b), 4 and 5 star mariners (and Suite pax as well) get assigned a boarding time, but can actually board any time.
  7. There is a ton of places to eat around Pier 39 area, and safe to walk.
  8. Too early for reservations. Should be available soon. Better on the website than on Navigator this far in advance.
  9. Walked around in Bergen a few years ago. Relatively small downtown, easy to walk around. And the tram to the mountain is pretty close to the ship.
  10. I am in Chrome. I clicked aggressively and frequently on the credit card box. It finally allowed me to book using my credit card.
  11. Smaller doesn't mean older. Many of the high end cruise lines have ships with as few as 200 pax on board, and they are pretty new ships.
  12. It will show up on your Navigator app no later than when you board, occasionally a couple of days in advance. It is very common for people to give their itinerary here, and we can usually give you a very educated guess what days will be "dressy".
  13. You most definitely need to put in a credit card. That is the problem I am having...the credit card screen is gray-ed out, and it just says "we have a problem with that credit card", please add another. But it is gray-ed out, you can't type anything.
  14. Uber/Lyft. There are many other shuttle services recommended here...SAS, QLS, Jiffy Jeff, GO Shuttle. Try them.
  15. I would be asking this on the RCI board, but typically there is no change in normal boarding times. If they start boarding at noon in other ports, they will start at noon in Seward.
  16. Welcome to Cruise Critic! First, there is an entire section devoted to NCL, located here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/64-norwegian-cruise-line/ Secondly, while we have not sailed on NCL, it is common practice for cruise lines to open their buffets and other dining areas early when in port early, to accommodate the high demand in these situations. Lastly, nobody is going to say a word if you bring a try of food back to your room.
  17. The schedule means little, because around the end of the game they will usually load extra trains on the route. But the route, where the trains stop, is important.
  18. Not to say Colon isn't a fuel stop, but from my 4 full transits and one partial, Cartagena seems to be a common fuel stop. It meets PVSA requirements for full transits as well.
  19. The problem probably is the website defaults to the local time. So, if it was 4pm when you did the search, it will start with trains at 4pm. I set the time to 10am, nd it shows trains every half an hour. I would be looking at trenitialia.com, and just look out a month or two.
  20. Have you checked the boards for the ports you are interested in?
