  1. This is discussed on the Italy board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/464-italy-ports/ Its about 75 minutes from central Rome to the port. No hotel will provide free transport that distance. Some will help arrange for a fee, or you can arrange your own. There are several options on the Italy board.
  2. Hey @JohninDC, apparently the sunny.org website has changed to https://www.visitlauderdale.com/places-to-stay/hotels/ per this thread:
  3. You sailed on them before and are going again, or you are looking to go with them this year for the first time?
  4. We did it only once, it turned out fine. But we knew the cruise was going to be offered...this was a while ago when there were different lines of communication. In your case, I would monitor here for the release of schedules for the time frame involved, and book as soon as you are ready when the schedules are released.
  5. There are dozens and dozens of threads here about hotels...too many to count. Have not heard of any hotel in Miami that offers a free shuttle to the port, but many offer a shuttle for a fee. One of the most commonly mentioned hotels is the Hampton Inn Brickell...nice hotel, in a great neighborhood and has a shuttle for a fee.
  6. You mean booking through the cruise line?
  7. No, you can't book when through Immigration, because then you have to claim your bag and go through Customs. Which could easily take another 30 minutes.
  8. This sounds like a Celebrity website issue. Ask on the Celebrity board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/16-celebrity-cruises/
  9. Never have looked at an activity sheet prior to boarding. General entertainment...music or entertainers do matter to us, but those are cruise line styles, and they are discussed on the cruise line boards. We are more interested in the ports visiting and overall destinations.
  10. That's what "clearing the ship" means...everyone can leave as they please. Yes, in that case, it was probably done electronically. Our last visit to Amsterdam, preceded by a stop in the UK, (and not spending the night in port the preceding day)we had to do a passport check as we exited the ship. They only had two agents checking 2000 pax.
  11. If you overnighted at the disembarkation port, the ship was cleared the day before. Not totally relevant to the Op's situation.
  12. Ask on the boards for the various cruise lines. Usually somebody collects them, and will post upon request.
  13. There is only one official ticket site for actually landing on Alcatraz. Anything else is usually just sailing by on a boat. The official website is https://www.alcatrazislandtickets.com/
  14. The rule of "it can be rough any time", also applies to any location. The sea can move, and it can move ships. Just a fact of life. Not sure sure why people expect cruise ships to only cruise smooth seas.
  15. If you look down the board about 6 threads, there is a thread about smoking. I don't believe you can't smoke "anywhere". That would be stricter than the US. Ain't happening.
  16. A little reading around the board would reveal common recommendations to check www.sunny.org, a listing of a hotels in Ft Lauderdale, including their amenities, like shuttles.
  17. I might remind you of a movie called "Perfect Storm". Any place can be rough at any time.
  18. Hawaii dropped the test requirements in June 2022.
  19. There is an estimator feature on the Uber website. I seriously doubt the Uber fare will be close to $100.
  20. Or stock up on waters or soft drinks on the embarkation day, and days you are gone for excursions.
  21. It will depend on when your ship arrives, where it came from (a previous EU port will mean no Passport check or Customs).
  22. Been asked several times. Haven't heard a definitive answer.
  23. If you are on time, you can probably make it, but do you have any idea what time the train from FCO to Termini is? They run frequently, but its still a 25 or so minute run, plus getting to the train station, and walking between trains at Termini. It might be a bit stressful Immigration (called Passport check) and collecting your bags can take a while...plan on close to an hour. Customs is literally a yes/no question, and if you have nothing to declare is literally takes a couple of seconds to walk out the door.
  24. Are you sure the pick up is actually at the Pier? In the past Hertz had a desk there, but you had to take a shuttle to the airport to get the car.
