  1. On our recent Royal Princess cruise the token machines were out of order on many decks. After trying 3 different laundry rooms I went to Passenger Services and reported the issue. They didn't offer me free tokens and also didn't offer to sell me any. They just said they would have someone "fix it soon". My wife finally heard someone say that the token machine on Caribe deck was working so I zoomed down to that one and got tokens. I don't think they ever did "fix" the other token machines. A woman in our nearest laundry room warned not to use one of the washers as it just eats tokens and does nothing else.
  2. Just off Royal Princess. First cruise for the ship since the shutdown. People were sitting at bars all around the ship.
  3. If your last port is Victoria and you disembark in Vancouver the casino is closed the last evening of the cruise.
  4. Having never sailed out of Vancouver before we had no clue. If the boarding process in Vancouver is normally like what we had I doubt we will sail out of Vancouver again. I just have to chalk it up to a "learning experience" and hope they send the money.
  5. We were in port in Victoria all day. Perhaps they announced it while a lot of the passengers were ashore. We definitely never heard any announcements and we always stop to listen to them. If we are in the cabin we open the door to hear what's being said.
  6. I got the emails as well and am not a heavy gambler. However, on our last cruise I put a bunch of OBC into the slots. I went to the casino to cash out on the last night of the cruise and was very surprised to find the casino closed. I always cash out the last night of the cruise. This time our last port had been Victoria and it seems the rest of the way to Vancouver is too close to Washington waters? (That's what I was told.) They said that I "should receive a check in 4 weeks or so". I certainly hope so as I had $750 in the dang account. (I will never wait until the last night again even though this supposedly only happens if your last port was Victoria and you disembark in Vancouver. From now on I'll cash out well in advance of the end of the cruise.)
  7. This should be your roll call:
  8. I have never seen this before. Many thanks for the link!
  9. Many of the ship nicknames don't appear to make sense but I'm sure there is some logic behind them. Some obvious abbreviations were already taken by other ships - some of them already retired from the fleet so new abbreviations had to be devised. Here's a list. Obviously many of these ships are no longer in the fleet but the list illustrates that it's not always easy to guess what the ship abbreviation will be. Princess Ship Abbreviations CB - Caribbean Princess CO - Coral Princess KP - Crown Princess DP - Dawn Princess DI - Diamond Princess XP - Discovery Princess EP - Emerald Princess EX - Enchanted Princess NP - Golden Princess AP - Grand Princess IP - Island Princess GP - Regal Princess RP - Royal Princess RU - Ruby Princess SA - Sapphire Princess CP - Sea Princess TP - Star Princess SP - Sun Princess MJ – Majestic Princess YP – Sky Princess PA - Pacific Princess
  10. Go to the Princess web site. Select to view ships. Pick a ship and look at the URL. Here is the URL for Caribbean Princess. Note the letters "cb" in the URL. Every ship URL contains the 2 letter Princess designation. https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/cb-caribbean-princess/
  11. Anything to do with the broken app. When I first tried to use it almost nothing worked for me. I sent all of my info to the dev team. Full Name on Reservation: Booking Number: Device Type being used when accessing the MedallionClass app: Operating System on Device: It took a couple of emails to get to that point and after that it all started working for me and I had no more problems with the pre-boarding stuff.
  12. Another vote for Live Chat. Today I was doing a booking to put on hold and accidentally spaced out and clicked to use my FCD. It automatically switched to a real booking. D'Oh! I tried Live Chat and, within maybe 6 or 7 minutes max my FCD had been returned to my account, the cruise had been cancelled, and I received an email confirmation of the cancelled cruise. That is excellent customer service. Seriously, try Live Chat and you may well get your OBC applied right away.
  13. We have never had ELUA but have sailed with Brian and Rowena. I was quite surprised one evening (in Wheelhouse on Emerald Princess) by the excellent rendition of Santana's Samba Pa Ti on a 5 string electric ukulele. Not Hawaiian music but very well done and certainly not something I had expected to hear on a ukulele. Note: We were already aware that ukulele is versatile as we attended a Jake Shimabukuro concert in a local venue a few years back.
  14. That would work for me but my wife can't take dextramathrohan. She has restless leg syndrome and that stuff really sets her legs off. Likewise, she can't take antihistimines such as Benedryl for the same reason. However, I checked and Mucinex (without the D or DM on the end) seems to be only guaifenesin so that is what we will be purchasing. We'll just keep it on hand at home. We just got back from a 12 day cruise and we took cold meds and an extra 2 weeks of meds in case of quarantine. We're looking at a B2B2B in Australia and New Zealand for fall (spring in Australia) of 2023 and will be certain to take along the Mucinex. I'm glad this thread mentioned it as that is what caused me to look into finding an expectorant that didn't contain ingredients my wife can't tolerate.
  15. High School offered "Typing" but nothing to do with computers or programming. The next year when I started at the local Community College they offered Fortran but I didn't take it. Weirdly enough, my wife did take it back then even though she isn't into anything more "tech" than email or FB.
  16. We just visited Endicott Arm May 10th on Royal Princess. The captain said he could "probably get in but wouldn't be able to turn around" as there was too much ice so we went partway in but didn't make it to the glacier.
  17. We didn't have the option of an Elite line. It was a "one size fits all" line. Lame.
  18. Oddly enough, we just finished a 12 day cruise and neither one of us gained any weight! We actually got less "exercise" (walking) on this cruise than on many as my wife isn't fully recovered from knee replacement and my lower spine was killing me the entire trip. Odd that we didn't gain weight. On one cruise back in 2015 we did 17 days and I actually lost 5 lbs. We did a lot of walking and used the stairs the majority of the time.
  19. We recently sailed out of Vancouver on Royal Princess. We boarded May 2nd. We arrived a short time before our "scheduled boarding group". We were in a loooooooooooooooooooong line that took a good hour before we got to the first check-in hurdle. At least it was inside.
  20. Thanks. Good to know that things may be moving back toward "normal". Ours was the first cruise for Royal Princess and people may still be feeling their way. Like you, we try to "like" the Wake Show but agree that sometimes its not good. Our last cruise before the shutdown had the absolute worst Wake Show (and worst CD staff overall) that we have ever encountered. While the Wake Show was a disappointment on this last cruise the CD staff was fantastic.
  21. Yep. We made Elite after 13 cruises as we had enough days at sea. A bit surprising as we did a couple of very short (4 day) cruises in order to fit them into our work schedules.
  22. It's actually for Platinum, Elite, and Suite guests. No idea why they print it that way but then the Patter doesn't always have the best listings for things. This is one of my favorite blunders. It ran in the Patter for 3 days straight.
  23. Not much of an issue anymore. "The Drill" consists of simply watching (or not watching while it plays) a video on the TV or on your personal device. After that, you show up at your muster station and scan your medallion. That's it. No crowds, no life jackets, etc.
