Very much doubt that Club Orange would be available at this late date. It is capacity controlled. -
No. These rooms are just located nearer the spa facilities.

2 or 4…just like tennis.

Have never understood the appeal of the Spa Suite. We’ve sailed in NS for years on all the classes of ships and I have to say that we found the suite on the Rotterdam to be very comfortable. A highlight is the shower with the three different shower heads. By far the best we’ve had on a ship. Even better than a Queen’s Grill suite on QM2. Just MHO.

The Wycliffe, in our opinion, is best suited for clearing clogged drains. On our recent Rotterdam cruise we received a bottle as first prize for Best Dressed at the Orange Party and promptly gave it away.

Tell me about Holland-America / Rotterdam
kirkc replied to Karen Lynn's topic in Holland America Line
We had a great cruise on Rotterdam last November. Only complaint, and it’s a design flaw, is the stairway from the casino down to the area near Billboard. It acts as a smoke funnel and really pollutes the air near the music venues. -
The color orange is worn and displayed as an homage to the Dutch Royal Family…the House of Orange, Has no references to the Irish or their history.

HAL should be embarrassed with their internet booking process
kirkc replied to kirkc's topic in Holland America Line
As mentioned…no listening for United Kingdom…confirmed by PCC. -
Yes, they are in the wardrobe.

Went to book a Neptune Suite for a friend today on the HAL site. This person will be joining us on our November cruise. She lives in England and when I began to enter her information I was met with a pick list of countries. None of them was Great Britain or England or any variant there of. In addition the countries listed were shown in Spanish or English. Not both, but one nation in English and another in Spanish. No rhyme or reason. Ended up getting an agent in Seattle. They admitted the country listing is a mess and a bit of a joke. Many complaints, yet no corrections made. How can a company that has such a wonderful product put forth such a sophomoric presence in IT?

Pre-cruise reservations and HIA package question
kirkc replied to CruiseMob's topic in Holland America Line
When you go to book either restaurant or shore excursion the booking engine will automatically apply your HIA credit where available. Anything you reserve beyond that will need to be paid by credit card at the time of booking. -
Our experience in the Caribbean this winter was amazing. Especially when you consider how it used to be. Had no problems with video calls or browsing the Internet. Day and night difference.

Keep in mind that HAL only leases out the space to a casino operator. It’s not theirs so the policies are the gaming company’s.

We were fortunate enough several years ago to be on the Staten off of Curaçao during a solar eclipse. There are a lot of science types on the ship and handheld GPS devices were brand new at the time. It was so funny watching them all runaround on the deck comparing where they thought we were and where the ship was. Then there was a great uproar because the captain sailed through a thunderstorm and they were convinced we weren’t going to be able to see a thing. As it turns out, we had a beautiful eclipse sitting about 3 miles off the coast of Curaçao. All the naysayers with their handheld GPS were silent after that and had nothing but praise for the ship’s captain.

Live from the Rotterdam March 29- April 13, 2024 15 days
kirkc replied to MissiCruzs's topic in Holland America Line
Our time on Rotterdam was wonderful and this is after 25+ HAL cruises. I’m not saying that you might not get the odd item that isn’t cooked to your liking, but when that happens say something to the wait staff. Ask that your item be remade. Isn’t that what you would do in any restaurant on land? I guess I get upset by people who sit around and continually complain about this or that but have made no attempt to bring that lack of service or lack of product being the way you want it to people who can affect a change. I guess they feel it’s easier to complain about it in writing and make everyone think that’s the standard. Sorry, just my opinion. -
Elliot Finkel is very talented. Met him several years ago for the first time when HAL flew him in to replace the entire dance/show crew who had been fired because they were so terrible. A very nice gentleman. Have been lucky enough to have him on a couple of cruises. Enjoy.

Considering a retreat cabana on Rotterdam
kirkc replied to Astromaid's topic in Holland America Line
We have found the cabanas on Rotterdam to be well worth the expense. Excellent service and a quiet retreat.we prefer a rear facing one. -

Formal nights dress code - does HAL enforce?
kirkc replied to goforyourdreams's topic in Holland America Line
It’s just my opinion and interpretation of fellow passenger and crew reactions, but we always step it up on dressy nights and have definitely noticed an appreciation from both groups. -
Our NS bath had the regular Elemis product plus bath salts/bubble bath. Also, cotton balls, Q-tips and make-up removal pads.
