  1. I really like Coldeze (I think it's a form of zinc). Two or three of those a few hours apart, seem to nip a cold quickly.
  2. @wandbWe were in Athens the first part of October several years ago and it was very hot the day we toured the Acropolis. Luckily, I had my umbrella in my backpack in case of rain. Worked well for a sun shade instead.
  3. 20240513_161532.heic Finally finished DD's quilt I started while visiting last year. @dfishcan laugh at the set-up. The new house doesn't have the sewing room set up yet so I was ironing on a wooden cutting board with a towel on top and binder clips in place of pins (Hope the photo comes through-not sure how to do it from the cell phone.)
  4. @durangoscotsWhat a difference a few miles (relatively speaking) make. We're visiting in Salida and it's been snowing most of the last 3 days. Yesterday afternoon I thought the rain would melt a lot of it, but a few inches more this morning. The sun is back so maybe the end is in sight. Hoping for clear weather for the trip back to Denver and our flight home Tuesday. Of course, the weather in the Seattle area has been wonderful.
  5. Erg! More snow today. At least the power isn't out like yesterday. Colorado isn't being kind to us this trip🙃.
  6. It's been an interesting few days in Colorado, so far. On the way home from the 5th grade band concert last night, the snow started falling. This morning it continued and finally stopped after about 12-14 inches. The power went out about 8:30 am and came back on about 6 pm. Interesting trying to keep the boys (9 & 11) entertained-dominos and a puzzle helped. We made great toasted cheese sandwiches on top of the wood stove. Of course at home, near Seattle, it was supposed to reach 80 degrees. Not sure what tomorrow is going to bring! Heading home on Tuesday. Take care everyone.
  7. If where you're staying isn't too far from the airport, you can always return to the airport the next morning and use the HAL shuttle.
  8. It sounds like chocolate chip cookies are plentiful but what about oatmeal raisin? Thanks.
  9. DH used the SUTAB prep tablets a couple of months ago and it was much easier. We had to pay a bit more than our normal copay but it was worth it.
  10. DH has done the Seafood Boil twice and both times I went to the buffet and chose my dinner and took it back to his table. No problem!
  11. So glad you had a successful cruise (other than chilly weather) and no major mishaps!
  12. Adding another thanks for your travel reports. I want to be on your trivia team someday! I’ve enjoyed following along.
  13. @superomaBe careful with the parchment. It needs to be held down-otherwise the air circulating causes it to fly up to the heating element and it starts to burn. Been there, done that!!😳. Off to the airport in a couple of hours for our flight to Denver and then south on Saturday to DD and family’s new home. Can’t wait!
  14. Have you completed your cruise? What did you find out about the visa for Bali? I always have problems trying to fill out visa requirements online. Thanks!
  15. We had an amazing cruise for the solar eclipse but sure haven't been able to get back in the groove since we came home. And now we're packing up again to spend a couple of weeks in Colorado at DD's new home (with plenty of projects to help with there). @RedneckBobLast week at Seattle's Woodland Park zoo, a mother duck with ducklings were paddling around the pond in the bear enclosure. Well, you can probably guess the outcome. And lots of upset little kids on the other side of the glass. @superomaI also vote for wallflower. Mine came back for many years. And they have a very nice scent. The stalks did become somewhat big and woody.
  16. Have you looked to see if there are any photos of the cabins on HALFacts.com?
  17. @shadow 123I will add that for some reason, it never seems to work for me the 1st attempt. I backspace to erase and start over again. 2nd time's the charm!
  18. I wonder if this is something that could be ordered ahead of time by calling Ship Services? 888 628 8107 hal_ship_services@hollandamerica.com (the spaces are underscore)
  19. @dockmanI'm not sure I understand your question. It seems the main point is getting a faster reply, so how does that reduce the agent's commission?
  20. @JazzyVIt was so good to read that everything went well and that you had a good night. Positive thoughts that it continues.
  21. One other thing I've read but not tried, green apples. It's been mentioned that even crew members keep them handy as well as ginger.
