  1. Have a great time, looking forward to hearing all about it.
  2. Good reports again, I must say the faffing around with the dining sounds a pain. I might have to stick with Ventura!
  3. Summer has finally arrived! Really warm in my garden. Not going to last long so I made the most of it! Hope everyone is well.
  4. Enjoying your blog and photos Sarah. Madeira is lovely, enjoy the rest of your cruise!
  5. Thanks for your blog Damien, hope the rest of your cruise is enjoyable. Looking forward to reading more.
  6. Well I went for my appointment with the nurse at my GP’s. What a waste of an afternoon! I was called in nearly 20 minutes late. And I got there 15 minutes early! All she did was take my blood pressure (‘perfect’ ☺️) and gave me a blood test! That was it! I was expecting a bit more but I suppose blood tests tell them a lot….
  7. I haven’t been on a fly cruise but I’ve been on Azura from Southampton and normally the queues aren’t too bad. It’s not just one bus but several going in and out all the time. The worse one for us was in Bilbao when it seemed the Spanish coach drivers must have stopped for lunch as we waited for half an hour or so on a very hot day then suddenly 3 turned up at once! This was going back to the ship, was fine going into town.
  8. Evening all, be glad when August comes, July has been very miserable! Not too much rain today but there was some and lots of cloud, so miserable! Had my grandson today, sad he’s going to school September as I won’t see him so much. Plus heard today his mum has a new job in a school so she’ll have all the holidays off so I won’t even be needed then! Had a bit of a nightmare this afternoon when both my parents mobiles weren’t working for some reason or their landline!! I had an hour of stress before I finally got through!
  9. Right in St Peter’s Port very close to where the tender lands is Castle Cornet which is enjoyable if you like castles. There’s a cafe where you can look right out to sea.
  10. When we were on her recently there was no booking for the MDR’s on freedom, just turn up like ‘the old days’! Also we could book the speciality dining before our cruise except for the Gkasshouse.
  11. which ship are you on Josy? Ventura has different arrangements for booking dining compared to the 3 bigger ships.
  12. Although the P&O cruises to Amsterdam this last year or so and for next year have all been in port for over 24 hours. Judging by the empty dining room I think there were quite a lot of people eating off the ship.
  13. Evening all, just catching up. Went to see 42nd Street at the theatre in Canterbury last night, very good evening! Amazing tap dancing. We had a meal beforehand and the prices are really high now! We both agreed it was lovely but the prices were noticeabley dearer.
  14. I’ve never taken a drinks package but P&O’s drink prices are reasonable so I don’t think it’s worth it. We have something like a glass of wine with dinner and a couple of cocktails or shorts and it doesn’t pay to get a package! I’m not sure about a non alcohol package, that might work, perhaps someone else can comment?
  15. It’s a great shame as it’s a wonderful place to dock, so easy to get into the city. I’m so pleased we got to do it last month and got to watch the sail in from our balcony in the sunshine. We’ve been a couple of times before but arrived overnight so didn’t see the lovely sail in. My Aurora cruise for next year has already been changed to Rotterdam. I’m happy with that as we’ve been before as I’ve said but I’m sad we won’t be able to experience that again.
  16. Thank you Selbourne for a very enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next one!
  17. You can do most of them on Ventura before you go! Strange all the ships are different.
  18. I’ve had this with my 4 night Aurora cruise at end of March, some excursions are already up for Rotterdam with ‘Amsterdam on your own’ about £58!!
  19. Oh that’s a shame, that’s obviously why my March one next year has changed to Rotterdam.
  20. We were docked just along the way from the station, 10 minutes walk roughly. The ferries were going back and forth constantly. It was about a five minute ride across the river.new went to the Amsterdam Tower, fabulous views from the top and with a nice breeze as it was a very hot day! The ferry was just behind the station, as I knew what it looked like from You Tube it was easy to spot! Here are pictures of the ferry and the Tower.
  21. Really chilling, I can’t believe I didn’t know the story!
