  1. He’s doing okay. Physical therapy started on Monday so that’s causing some pain & swelling again (as well as some grouchiness LOL). Thank you for asking!
  2. I hope his symptoms remain mild and that you don’t get sick. Enjoy your dinner tomorrow! @Ozark_Kid you have beautiful grandchildren. They’re all so photogenic.
  3. Non-stop options between Providence & Ft Lauderdale stink. The only option is Jet Blue with an evening flight down (which is okay because we’d fly down a day or two early) and early afternoon return on 7/15, but it’s $ 752 per person! I didn’t see any non-stop return flight to Hartford. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t like flying, especially taking off, so I always prefer non-stop. Even more so in January with potential weather issues. Boston would be a last resort. I’m honestly thinking maybe we’d just drive. We’ll be in PA over New Year’s weekend; could just leave from there & spend a few extra days in FL pre-cruise.
  4. I’m sure that would be great fun! We always go to our daughter’s house in PA for New Years. They don’t want to travel up here for Christmas as long as Santa’s still a thing for the kids, so we celebrate “second” Christmas and New Years with them. Maybe! Thanks to all for your input on Jewel & Radiance class. It’s going to be a tough call between the two. Andy thinks I’ve gone off the rails a bit LOL. We have two Disney trips coming up in August & September, Voyager cruise in November, Bella’s cruise in March with extra time in FL pre-cruise thrown in, an NCL cruise with friends in June and Disney next August with the whole family. My response “YOLO”!
  5. I mentioned looking at the Harmony Jan 7th cruise with stops in Aruba & Curaçao. Looking around, I also found an 8 night on Jewel of the Seas, stopping at Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire, departs on Jan 6th from Pt Canaveral. PC isn’t the easiest as far as transportation to/from Orlando airport but in the other hand, there are more flight options there from Providence. Price is quite a bit lower than Harmony too. Anyone here ever sailed on the Jewel? Radiance class seems to get a lot of love in review searches.
  6. We went to Newport for the day. I had a delicious mojito with my lunch on Bowen’s Wharf. This sign made me think of @Sea Dog
  7. I’ve also been eyeballing the Jan 7th 8 day Southern. It falls in a good spot between our November Voyager cruise and the Bella cruise. We’ve also never been to Aruba or Curaçao. Plus January’s a good time to escape the northeast.
  8. Good to see you back. Well we had two or three rumbles of thunder but not a drop of rain. The sky looks clear now.
  9. Glad it’s working now Debbie and I hope it stays that way! They’ve been saying 90% chance of thunderstorms here most of the day but so far not a drop. We desperately need the rain. At least we’re only in the low 80’s today & tomorrow. I finally opened all the drapes & blinds today; had them closed to try and keep the house cooler and give the AC a little help. I hate having them closed & the house dark. Regarding plates. We have everyday dishes we use most days unless we’re just having burgers or pizza. Like someone else said, if we don’t use the dishwasher often enough it starts to smell a little funky. Probably because there’s only two of us here. We also have wedding china that never gets used. Christmas dishes get used for a couple of weeks around the holiday. @Sea Dog that leftover meal looks like no leftovers I’ve ever served, LOL. Thanks for also posting the recipe links. We (me & my girls) all use Ree Drummond’s mashed potato recipe which calls for cream cheese - it’s the best!
  10. Graham, I’m very sorry we won’t have the opportunity to meet you and Pauline on the Bella cruise. Maybe another time🤞.
  11. @A&L_Ont Happy Anniversary to you both. Looks like a great meal. Ummm, bread dipped in garlic butter? Yes, please! Also glad to hear your Mom is doing well Andrew. @bobmacliberty the linguine looks fantastic. @Ocean Boy look at the food porn you’re missing, including homemade pasta!
  12. No worries Greg. Seeing to your guests should’ve been your focus, not snapping pics for us! It sounds like a great evening all around. I can certainly understand why you’re exhausted today. Hope those puppies are letting you rest a bit.
  13. Belated Happy Anniversary wishes to you both. Loved the wedding picture you posted! Also want to wish @lenquixote66 a Happy 79th Birthday. Here’s hoping you have many more.
  14. I had a great day at the beach yesterday with my 3 oldest friends from high school. We laughed, reminisced and warmly remembered the few that’ve left us too soon. It’s 93 degrees here today, just spent most of the day floating around the pool which is great but only slightly refreshing with the water temperature 90 degrees! I think I mentioned our best friends won a “free” cruise thru the Foxwoods casino on NCL. They’ve never cruised before & want us to join them so I researched all the options from a list of possibles they were given and dates that worked for them (both still work full time). We settled on the Getaway Eastern Caribbean out if PC next June. Their “free” cruise is going to cost them $2100, LOL. That includes upgrading to a balcony and the 4 promos so ultimately not a bad price for a 7 night cruise. @aussielozzie18 I’m so enjoying your travel photos. Please keep them coming! @Sea DogCant wait to see pictures of this fabulous dinner you’re preparing.
  15. I’m woefully behind again after only one day! It doesn’t matter to me if the thread stays where it is or moves to Floataway. I’ll be here either way but it seems there are others who wouldn’t if it moves and I’d hate to lose anyone. The few nasty intruders we’ve had didn’t stick around long. Best to just ignore them when they show up (but thanks @Jimbo!)
  16. Prayers for your friend Mimi 🙏🙏🙏 More cucumber mint mojitos 🤣!! (maybe frozen ones in this heat) This is very touching Debbie. What a special bond the two of you must’ve had.
  17. I tend to agree Dani. There was no need to bring up the topic (again) when we all know and respect his position on it. People on this thread are going to disagree, just like any close knit group or family. I only hope it doesn’t get derailed and that no one leaves the group because of it.
  18. FWIW, I don’t know your name either. And I couldn’t be bothered to go to the trouble of trying to figure it out. If you wanted me/us to know it, you would’ve shared it. I hope this doesn’t keep you from posting and sharing as it seems like 99.99% of the people here don’t care that you’re anyone but Ocean Boy.
  19. Mine was blue, also a 4 speed stick shift. My girlfriends and I got up to no good in that car! In fact I’m going to the beach with 3 of them Friday and I’m sure there’ll be some reminiscing about our shenanigans.
  20. My first car was also a 1973 Mercury Capri! I remember those reclining bucket seats well. Do you remember the song “Chevy Van”? My Dad would never have let me go out with a boy who had a van, but for some reason he wasn’t worried about big back seats LOL. Yes, the 70’s were great. I graduated from high school in 1975.
