Seashore - best place to get drinks without a wait
miched replied to BlueKernal's topic in MSC Cruises
I would tell you but then everyone would go there.π€π€«π€ Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
I my fav is Old Fashions. Luxardo Cherries , orange wedge, sweetener, it can be agave syrup, muddle brown sugar cube, or maple syrup all muddled and some of the Luxardo cherry juice. use 4 to 5 different bitters, 2 0z bourbon and a large ice cube. Sometimes a 1/4 to 1/2 oz of Grand Marnier for that extra kick and orange flavor. Twist of orange peel for garnish. I found on board that the BTs donβt make the drinks the same I will tell them how I like it and then frequent that BT that makes it the best rating to me. At home if it is too sweet or not sweet enough I adjust, some BTs will do that. For a great experience have one with a small bite from a piece of chocolate before taking a sip. Use the one that is on your pillow. Very small bites and that piece will last the whole drink. At home we will have the chocolate covered cherries that we purchase from Nut.com. Learned that trick when visiting the distilleries in KY on the Bourbon Trail https://nuts.com/driedfruit/cherries/dark-chocolate/1lb.html Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

I would choose the Ascent or Beyond. Both have been improved over the Apex and newer. Been on the Apex and Beyond. I like the Beyond more than the Apex because of the Martini bar layout and having the World Class Bar. The Ascent will have enhancements over the other 2. Any of them would be a nice cruise experience. Best is to evaluate the cost and itinerary. Choose the one that works for you. Ex of you can get Aqua class on one ship for the same cost of a veranda on the other go for the Aqua if that is in your budget. Wouldnβt pay any new ship premium to sail on the Ascent, if you understand what I mean. I would say take the one that is the best value for the same category. It will all be new to you and enjoyable. Nothing to seem. They are too high. Wonβt book them any longer. I have already paid for the meals in my cruise fare. Add that additional and I canβt justify it. Eat enough as it is without having to pay more to eat more than I need. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

50% off speciality dining while on ship still exists?
miched replied to fstuff1's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were on a cruise in Nov. There was someone else that was also on that cruise and posted a live blog. She wrote that she booked got 50% off of a few specialty dinners when on board, and that they are giving away food. Prior to the cruise I always checked for discounts on the dining. Never seen 50% off. I think 5%was max and I can get more with my CC perks There was a person always standing at a podium to book those dinners. I keep asking if there were any discounts. He said no. I told and showed him the blog. He said it never happened and there were never any discounts like that for a long time. Sometimes people write stuff that they want to believe or to glamorize to make others think they are special. Or they are just confused and donβt know what they really got. The short answer. NO large discounts. At most is the first night that I have seen to be 30% on the S, and M class. On the E class the best amount is what you get from the CC perks. Happy crusing ππ’πΊπΈπ -
Question: Celebrity Suite Deck 11 or 12 on Ascent
miched replied to Daleed77's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Never had any issues of noise when by an elevator. I would stick with deck 11. Check the deck plan for what is above deck 12. With 11 you will have cabins. Should be quieter unless you have people above that walk around like a heard of elephants or do aerobics in the cabin. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
What brand of tonic water and ginger ale on Eclipse?
miched replied to kekcatbert's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Some bars have Goslings, and also Bundaberg. Some BTs will mix coke, and sprite, or 7 Up when making drinks out of a gun as a substitute for ginger ale. as you probably know there is a difference between ginger beer and ginger ale. I tried drinking Canada dry but it is impossible. The more I drink the more they make. π± Drink up πΎπ§π·π₯π§πΉπΈπ» -
That is one of those places that also takes excess fabric items and sells as bulk rags. It just seems a shame to think that is where they will end up. I guess I just have to face the facts that is all they are worth. Fancy rags to be used to wipe up grease, oil and etc. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

I would like to know what you do with them when finished. My parents passed away a few years back and I inherited about 15 of those things, a family member took one. The rest I canβt give them away because no one wants one. They are in great shape as they were used as covers on the bed, hung on a quilt rack, or still in the box. They were all hand made by some of the Polish , and Ukrainian women in the area. I even asked at a dog shelter and they donβt want them. π€·ββοΈ. I guess at worst I can donate to the SA or other charity type thrift store and they will end up being sold as bulk rags. Asked a pregnancy center but they are limited on what they can accept because of the liability. The canβt be guaranteed that they are flame proof, non toxic and etc. I. donβt want to just toss them but I am tired of having them around. I have the same problem with hand made shawls, and afghans that they had. The same with doilies. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

From what I read some passengers wanted the private lounge so they could meet and mingle with other elite and above that share the same cruise passion. π Apparently not many are interested in doing that. Sometimes donβt ask or wish for something as you may get it. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

From past experience it was like a preview of one of the Productions shows. The singers and dancers appear doing a little show. It is ok if you donβt have anything else to do. It is supposed to be for Elite and above but there is no one checking and they didnβt clear out the lounge prior to. it also coincides with the HH so many may be there for that. Can be very crowded with overloaded bar service. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

Paying for drinks and tipping as we go
miched replied to swimming wiv da fishes's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I find that the prepaid tip option lets me know how much extra the cruise will cost. I never prepay it as it will be added daily onto the folio. I donβt like giving money away ahead of time. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
I know that but that isnβt the issue. If the shop has it why doesnβt Celebrity have it? Apparently it isnβt a supply issue for the store. The supply issue is that Celebrity doesnβt want to supply it and uses that for an excuse. The last cruise that I was on I was in the Retreat Lounge. This one couple came in and ask the BT if he remembered them from some a while ago. as they were the couple that had that special bottle of Scotch. I asked the Bt about it and he said that when they were in a port someone from the ship went into the port and purchased some bottle reserved just for them. He said he didnβt know all of the story but he was told to only serve it to those two guests and keep the bottle out of sight. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

What perks would you want in the Penultimate tier of Captain's Club?
miched replied to patty1955's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I am aware of that but there are probably many more than you may think that are in that area. There are also a lot more Zenith than there use to be. Before one on a cruise was rare now there are always a few. On our last cruise there were 11 and one was a double. This wasnβt a repositioning cruise. It was a 10 day Caribbean cruise. I think there were also over 750 elite plus. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
What perks would you want in the Penultimate tier of Captain's Club?
miched replied to patty1955's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The way it is now is good enough as long as they donβt take anything away. A dinner in Luminae wouldnβt be feasible. On some cruises there are hundreds of Elite Plus and many would now be in the new level. Free Classic drink pack? Dream on especially when they are making cutbacks on what is included in the drink packages. There again with all of the Elite plus that would qualify it wouldnβt be financially feasible. happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
I collect the empty bottles and cans if they have the MI $.10 deposit on them and cash them in when I get back to MI. π°π°π°π€. I also fill up containers that have twist off caps with the shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and body wash to use at home (not all on the same bottle). π± Also pack the extra rolls of TP, and facial tissues stored in the cabin. π€₯. There is a lot more stuff but I donβt want to expose all of it. π€·ββοΈπ€ Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

I recently booked a cruise thru a very large warehouse chain. The agent read the terms and conditions. It took him about 10 minutes. When he was finished he asked I had any questions. I said yes. Can you repeat that. ππ± One of the things read was that they do not participate in the move up program. If they donβt other large TAs may also be doing the same. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

Does everyone stick to the arrival time Celebrity assigns you?
miched replied to RossHaven's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I have seen people in front of me trying to beat the system and being directed to a holding area. I showed up at my assigned 11:30 and there were a lot of people standing around in that holding area. I have also read on this board about people that showed up early and then complaining about not being able to board and having to stand outside in the elements. It is up to you. Stand here waiting or somewhere else. Take your chances. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
Even if you donβt use the gym there are showers available. π€ There is soap, shampoo, towels and etc. there are also sinks if you want to do wet shaving after. I have used the area a few times when my wife was using the bathroom in the cabin and we were in a rush. i would put on a bathing suit, t shirt and walk there from the cabin with shower togs. Made it easier than having to contend with a lot of clothing. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

I wouldnβt trust any puzzle on board the ship or in public. I could see some jokesters mixing up 2 or 3 and then redistributing them into the boxes. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

Diont they give you an option? You can use the TP, wash cloth, or the brush next to the toilet. π±ππ€·ββοΈπ€ Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

I send out clothing that I am comfortable with if they get ruined. Basically anything with elastic will usually get ruined by destroying the elastic. This is mostly socks and underwear that arenβt high cost items. Depending on the fabric some stuff will come back like it was in a wrinkle machine that put permanent wrinkles in it. If you have any knitted type clothing the laundry tags they use may pull the threads when removing. I donβt like those tags as they irritate and scratch my skin. I have read where some passengers will pack clothing with the intention that after sending to the laundry and wearing again will leave on board. The attendants told me that Celebrity will wash and donate the clothing to the area they are sailing in. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ

Noro Outbreak on Constellation - Current Cruise 1/3-12/12/2024
miched replied to Jim_Iain's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The other items that get overlooked are the chair rails and salt, and pepper shakers. People will put their hands under the seat of chair to move it closer to the table and when leaving. I doubt they ever get wiped off. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ -
Yes the decision to sell the rights to Peacock was months ago, but the teams were not known. Now that the teams and games are known the NFL schedules the times and days. Many NFL fans would subscribe to Peacock to watch any playoff game no matter who was playing. By selecting the game with the Chiefs it gives the possibility of many swifties subscribing just to see her cameo appearance. Happy cruising ππ’πΊπΈπ
