We booked a Rain Forest tour with Ellis based on recommendations on cruise critic and are glad we did. We have an 11 year old who is very interested in science so, he took us to a cave on the way to the rainforest. Cave was really cool except there were many hungry mosquitos! I forgot to bring bug spray so that was a very short stop--lol. The rain forest was beautiful and Ellis was a wealth of information. Not in a standard tour guide rehearsed sort of way but someone who was just sharing information with visitors. We really enjoyed his stories and history that he knew. We didn't make it all the way into the falls as we were exhausted from so many tours we had already done and perhaps a few too many late nights on the ship:) But the walk we did take was beautiful and we did get to see the tower as well as a smaller waterfall. all in all-I would definitely recommend Ellis. His personal tour was just that--personal--no big crowds to wait on, no big bus to climb on--just the 3 of us and him. His vehicle was comfortable for the long ride and he had lots of information to share along the way.
So glad you had a great time!

Thanks ozarkmama. I'm new to this site.
I was tired and cranky last night. :)

It's been posted repeatedly on this forum. You can drop off your luggage at Barrachina's restaurant. They offer this service from 9-5.

There are no airport shuttles in San Juan. You have to take a taxi. The taxi line is right outside the airport. You will get more responses if you post in the San Juan port of call forum:

Actually according to Barachina's website they offer luggage stor age from 9-5

Taxi is your only option. The taxi line is right outside the airport.

We stayed here when we got in at 1am in January. The room was large and clean. The beds were super comfortable and if you are renting a car, it is right across the road from Charlie Car Rental. It was right at $100 for the night.

As others have stated, you can rent a car and drive to the rainforest and Fajardo. If you like the idea of a tour guide, we have used Ellis twice and plan on using him again next year for a day. This is one of the tours he offers, rainforest, bio bay and beach. He has several others listed on Craigslist. He is also on Facebook (Tours with Ellis-see the real puerto rico) He is great about customizing your tour if you want to include something not listed.

I was just looking into what we can see in Old San Juan. It seems you can walk around there for free or take the free trolley. Wasn't really to excited to see the forts. What else is there that is nice to see and do?
DD and I spent a day in January just walking. OSJ isn't really that big. WE did a quick walk through of the forts, lots of gorgeous views from each one. Then we walked the Paseo Del Morro through the San Juan gate. We wandered in and out of the little shops and found the Parque de las Palomas and fed the pigeons.

Hey, it's just hair and it will grow.
One of my favorite lines

Your pixie cut had lots of short layers. Are you trying to grow it out to one length? Or another cut?
My hair is very thick and straight. I needs layers, just longer layers. I want them long enough that I can pull it back in a pony tail.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...........

Thanks, I have been getting it trimmed and shaped every 6 weeks and am waiting till 8 weeks this next time. My stylist is the best. She took about an inch off the back last week so that the sides can catch up a little. I keep telling myself if I can get through the next few months it should be good.

Have had very short hair for many, many years. I am in the process of growing it out and almost reached a desperation stage. It is too long to do anything and it is too short to do anything..............Trying to be strong and not cut it off again

Why don't you post on the port of call forum for St Maarten?
-
No restrictions on the ship, just the airlines if you are flying.

I don't know of any hotels in San Juan that offer a shuttle service either to the pier or to/from the airport. The link to the taxi rates is:

Is it Jobos beach in Isabela? If so, it is about an hour and a half to two hours from San Juan. You would need to rent a car.

I work in a physical therapy office that is beside a Dr office and patients get us confused all the time. A female patient looking for the Dr came in my door the other day with two little dachshunds on leashes. Before I could even open my mouth, she waves a piece of paper in my face saying "I have a letter"!! OMG I just pointed her to the Dr's office as I was speechless at this point.

He is great. You will have a great time. He contacted us the night before our tour for final confirmation and made arrangements to meet.
-
The only way to get to El Yunque will be a rental car or a tour. Personally I would contact Ellis and see what he suggests for time and itinerary. He has been great the 2 times I have used him. I would choose either the rain forest or OSJ but he might have a suggestion.

If you are going to be in the water, hands down Bullfrog is the best. I worked with a pharmacist who is a scuba diver and he is the one that told me about it. My daughter is a very fair skinned redhead and she didn't burn at all on our cruise or in Puerto Rico this year and we only applied a couple times a day.

here is the link to the taxi rates in Puerto Rico
