  1. Bringing it back to the topic, you sound like someone who is tech savvy and if there is a problem, several here can advise about the App. But do what you can on the web based version pre-cruise, less wonky. We are one-and-done on RCL and a long time ago so can't advise. Princess used to be similar to Celebrity, but now, I don't know.
  2. Is there one line that stands out in your mind that you like? My point is, if you have one sailing each on 4 lines and 14 sailings on, lets pick Celebrity, then we can compare to that line. If however you have sailed 3 to 4 sailings on each line; meaning you are more interested in the itinerary than brand loyalty, then what I would say is Princess does a great job of hitting the major ports, but their ships are too big for those smaller getaways. I've been on the Regal and that was our impression. Size gives lots to do, but big and impersonal. Some like it that way. The buffet is amazing for size and selection! No Promenade deck to walk off the calories though.
  3. If you meant that you used it for a cruise, then t&atravel is correct, there is nothing to get back, as the $100 is credited to your balance. You do get OBC for your cruise. If you meant that you have decided not to use it, then you can wait a year and it will automatically be returned to whichever account, usually a credit card, paid for it. I have read that you can also call Princess and request it be returned earlier than a year. I always book with it though, so full disclosure, I never get anything back.
  4. I do see I made a mistake. In rereading, there is not one b2b but two, almost a year apart. That aside, I do think there is something to check. It almost sounds condescending to mention, but be sure that the login for the cruise is the correct booking number. Surely this has been done though. Nothing but true that picking up the Medallion at the pier solves the problem of where it gets mailed.
  5. Two things, both I think might work together. First the Medallion. Elect to pick it up at the port. Takes like two minutes at the desk. Solves the issue of where they mail it. We found for our upcoming, also out of Ft. Lauderdale, there was no option, only pick it up at the port. You'd think logging in with your booking number would direct the mailing. Guess not. So... you will be at the desk anyway. Add your credit card while you're there. Leave it blank for now. One thing I did notice is an old cancelled card was still on our account from a previous cruise, I needed to delete it when I added the new one. Something to check and if there is an old card, you'll need to delete it anyway. Good luck! Phone service? While T-mobile is good for not charging for calls outside the US, that doesn't help you at home. I have a vision impared friend who uses a Jitterbug phone with larger interface. Jitterbug uses the Verizon network so check their coverage map for your area.
  6. If you don't currently have one, then know that with the good ones, you have to tell them don't call me, I'll call you. They have a direct line and email. If you don't get a response, change agents. the good ones are hungry and no trouble reaching them. Just don't call them mornings, especially Monday. They get busy at times just like most businesses. Read threads here about the call center which several report is in the Phillipines, providing incorrect/ inconsistent information. Also, this may or may not be an issue, is your ability to understand heavy accents. Stick with someone with experience, which could also be a TA.
  7. Agree. Have to say, this thread ranks as one of the imponderables on CC. My favorite was the one where the poster needed to know which side of the doorway to stand on to get into the MDR. I was going to post, the outside, but didn't. There is zero reason for crew to have access to passenger information outside of their purview.
  8. Ever hear the expression, "Consider the source." I wouldn't consider the ship's tech a gruru. [sic] Have used Android just fine on three cruises since restart, including the Emerald in August. 2.6 mb is good for satellite! Were you expecting service like at home?
  9. The post you quote was a response to my post saying, "I would not sail on any line (in) September even if it was offered." You are correct, I meant hurricanes.
  10. This was our experience in August this year, so, it's current. Up to $25 in cash at Passenger Services, I did have to go to the Elite lounge the night before and have a Boulevardier to bring the amount under $25. Those are really good BTW. Like a Negroni but with rye whiskey instead of gin.
  11. Agree. Poor form to make a comment or criticise. When I see someone with a cap in the MDR, I assume the person has an embarassing scalp infection. Why make the person feel awkward by saying something? Or they're wearing a cap to defy and invite criticism; play the victim. I'm not going to give them that satisfaction either. Whichever, best to say nothing, but leave it to the staff to handle.
  12. Adagio. Some may look at a deck plan to try and show me I'm wrong; to tell me there's no Adagio Bar, but there is. That's why I like it. Few know about it or go there.
  13. I've exchanged large for smaller bills for tips at Passenger Services. Didn't know there was an ATM. Learned something new today.
  14. Maybe they have the same worry about you and will keep the noise down. I've had no problems with noise in this type of cabin.
  15. By one measure, you picked the two most opposite ships in the Princess fleet. This may be the decider for you. The Coral has the most space per passenger, measured by cubic foot, and the Caribbean has the least. To be pedantic, the Coral's sister, Island, had additional cabins added and the Caribbean was a one off build, before the larger Gems were built yielding more space. Are you going to see the Panama Canal? Old locks. Like to shop? Aruba! Love unbearable heat, Cartegena. I've been on Coral's sister ship Island on a Trans Panama, before the conversion and the forward view from the buffet is this design's most memorable feature.
  16. A community in Arizona, roughly between Phoenix to the south and Sedona to the northeast.
  17. Best time of year? It's tropical so mostly always hot. Spring is better we think, but just avoid spring break and summer when school is out. I wouldn't sail September on any line even if it was offered and I doubt any are. Eastern and southern islands are more cultural and Dutch influenced as I recall. Western Caribbean ports tend to have more active excursions, Mayan archeologic sites... There is more to do on the bigger ships, but some like the older Caribbean Princess. Comparing Princess to Carnival, there is less energy onboard, which we prefer. Decor is more understated too. Since you are new here and with Princess, once you select your cruise, join your Roll Call here. It's a great way to learn from those with more experience. The Plus package is nice if you drink a lot, we don't drink and find it doesn't make sense for us.
  18. Looking at Cruisedeckplans.com E410 has a couple of small obstructions, I don't know what to call them. E412 has less in the way of obstructions, but there is some overhead walkway or something if you wanted to look up at the sky. We find OV cabins a good value and I'd take either over looking at an orange tender/lifeboat. I suppose someone might say that 412 is directly opposite the central elevator lobby, but really, you're literally talking next door.
  19. I have the receipt, the ship's transaction record, and ship's counter video to prove the product was not received at purchase time. I can remove a charge if not delivered. But as a vacation destination, they leave me wanting more.
  20. "Oh, you don't have a bag? Send it to my cabin. Thank you!" Walk away. Enough of that from passengers and bags will appear.
  21. Without knowing your stage of recovery, do please be sure you don't have an interaction with any pain medications and alcohol you may be taking at the time of your cruise. May I suggest, my fellow gin enthusiast, since you like lemon in your gin drinks, and prefer a tall glass, instead of a G&T, have you ever tried a French 75? It should be served in a flute. They'd always have a bottle of champagne open. Just a thought.
  22. Haven't stayed in that cabin. We prefer forward cabins FWIW. Hoping to post a link to cabin pix. Sorry if the link doesn't work. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/ships/stateroom-details.php?ship=Emerald-Princess&cabin=B201
  23. https://www.princess.com/en-us/plan/princess-vacation-protection Scroll down to select Standard or Platinium.
  24. I'd say look over at the Ports Of Call, Asia board. There are several threads about Viet Nam on page one. If you cannot find the answer there by reading, then post there. Yes, Princess does this different, and why you posted here, but it will likely get moved anyway. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/43-asia/ I had a problem with figuring out the Japan entry and posted. I had my answer in a few minutes.
  25. Hope you enjoy your first cruise! And welcome to Cruise Critic. Be sure to join your Roll Call here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2961574-discovery-princess-7-day-classic-california-coast-october-5-2024/#comment-66041807
