Happy to be passing through early October on the Viking Vidar. At least our hotel is waiting for us after we find the beer tents within walking ...er....stumbling?...distance. 😉

Leaving tomorrow for Viking 3 week cruise....ahhh...no parties. 🙂 Just us old boring folks. 😉

Thanks! Indeed that is what I gathered from a couple of videos. We are on for 3 weeks...and most definitely over packed...but oh well. I decided to toss a dozen extra plastic hangers in my suitcase....leaving tomorrow morning. 🙂

Silly question, but I pack extra for some cruise lines: Hangers. Do the Viking Long ships have plentiful hangers in the closet? I know you can ask for more if needed, but I hate asking the attendant on busy embarkation day. And we do like to get unpacked right away. We are Veranda Suite on Vidar.

I have surprisingly good hearing...though my eye sight is failing...drats. I cannot escape the loud noises at things like you mentioned. So I tend to avoid places that are loud. Still have not found a decent set of ear plugs...but I am trying. Bucky's hearing loss is mostly do to Vietnam....sigh. Think Forest Gump.

Yeah, we are outbound to Bucharest on Monday. Will be with Viking for just shy of 4 weeks. River cruise trip. The next two indeed include a long flight to Australia...but I gave up when RCI cancelled our last two bookings in a row to try to go down there. Will make it worthwhile with being down there for almost two months. The last set is a simple flight to Milwaukee. 🙂 But then flying back from Nuuk Greenland.

I have been Pinnacle for awhile now. And I sail in suites. I don't even want to hazard a guess as to how much of my nest egg I have given RCI over the last 20 years. And no...I don't whine and complain about the lack of perks that are now constantly eroding with RCI. I have another solution...I am not booking new cruises with RCI any longer. Viking is now getting that business. Money talks...and...

Those are for postal workers only anyway. 😉

LOL. Bucky and I never spend time in the pool areas on any ship. (Which gives the chair hogs more territory! 😄 ). Not a fan of the party/way too loud atmosphere, and won't get into any of the "bacteria soup" pots. 😉

Yeah...with some of the guys in those speedos....that really have no business being in one. Owww...Owww...eye burn!!! 😂

My DH also wears hearing aids. If he can't turn them down enough (they are the kind of set that has volume wheels on each one)....he just pulls them out. Yeah, that's when I envy him. 😉

Thanks! Then indeed I will pack a thinner mattress topper in a tagged duffle bag.... sending up with my checked luggage. Much rather do it, than wish I had. 😉

Indeed...we just get off the ship there early before the masses...walk around the whole perimeter....or at least the part they still let you do so, (we used to be able to walk all the way to the far end). Pick up a couple of "Coco Locos", quick early lunch at Chill Grill...(love their taco bar) and then back to the now uncrowded ship. ☺️

Are the new beds (hopefully including new mattress) in all cabins now? I was wondering if I needed to bring an extra duffle bag to check with mattress topper.

Oh no...it's a requirement for RCI to put every ship there on every itinerary. 😄

OP: I think you have your answer.

Positive: No screaming kids. Negative: Loud party atmosphere, with "adults" acting like kids. There is still no quiet area any longer to enjoy on the now over theme parked out island. Joni knew what she was doing singing "Paved Paradise...put up a parking lot".

On a related subject, having done Chef's table on RCI....same thing the last time. Ridiculously loud and obnoxious drunken woman, celebrating her birthday, ruined the evening for all of us.

We board Viking Vidar on the 20th. Still have fingers crossed that the river levels will be kind to us, European Sojourn from Bucharest to Amsterdam traversing the Danube. Kind of like Goldilocks and the 3 bears... Papa bear, Momma bear, and Baby bear. 😉 Baby bear's porridge was just right LOL! I want the baby bear river. 😄

LOL...yeah. Once everyone has the froo froo colors we have...will have to go back to basic black to stand out again. 😄

Yup....Tumi with wild color print. Definitely easy to spot when they come around on the baggage claim belt. 😉
