  1. When we toured on our scooters we were handed packs of peaches by young ladies in local costume when we left Carcassonne another beautiful city very difficult drive until we managed to stop.
  2. Salamanca is a must not miss city it’s centre is beautiful and it’s history so very interesting as Jazzbeau says sleep on the way back.
  3. The last time we were there they told us that they had just opened a branch in York now I know it’s a nice city but the journey to Rudesheim is much more fun.
  4. There is a very nice Christmas shop in Ruedesheim near the Mechanical Music Museum
  5. Notamermaid yup that’s the one beautiful a really lovely day and time was had by all.
  6. Thank you Notamermaid interesting bit of film. The sheer size of these vessels is amazing I’ve seen to shorter ones together but they were long especially for the Moselle.
  7. Hi Notamermaid Scenic next year do a trip to Breisach for a guided tour and a guided bike ride from Breisach to Freiburg. On our Black Forest tour many moons ago we went to a beautiful waterfall stopped off on the way at an open air museum of buildings from the area, actually quite interesting as we have a similar one with buildings in the Weald and then onto the obligatory cockoo clock shop, which was huge. I would love a really good cuckoo clock but we already have a beautiful Grandmother clock, could they live together?
  8. Ohhhh history, at school it took me some time to come to terms with the fact as I saw it England fought England (New) over of all things tea, as a kid I couldn’t stand tea. I do appreciate a good cuppa now and can even tell my Assam from my Darjeeling and a good Gunpowder can knock your head off.
  9. Only just, all change as we have a new Prime Minister and just about every other minister including our chancellor of the exchequer. Hopefully the cheese, ham & sausage debacle will be sorted soon. Although we don’t pay vat on tea as being England it’s considered an essential part of our staple diet.
  10. Looks like it’s good news for all U.K. visitors = vat free.
  11. Never had a problem, it’s the EU!
  12. I’m pretty sure that DH would not let me do that to our conservatory especially as it’s really not big enough. (I don’t think!) Koblenz & Longwood so beautiful.
  13. We’re we were in Scotland her hearse past the end of our road, of course we were there. The reaction around the world was absolutely amazing and very much appreciated by us. All we can say is thank you she was an amazing lady.
  14. There is a quite comprehensive map on the Frankfurt airport site in English but you do have persevere to find it, I tried to copy but failed abysmally.
  15. Notamermaid isn’t it interesting that regardless of the water issues the covid hitches the staffing challenges there are still companies with the wherewithal and forethought to support the river traffic industry. I know that many of these vessels where contracted before the low water challenges but nevertheless they were not cancelled or suspended. Hopefully we will all come out the other side being able to afford the full joys of cruising the rivers of Europe and it not being overcrowded.
