Thanks again for the information..
I have Pages and Notes on my iPad (which I had planned to bring) so I guess that's what I'll use. Sounds like the computer is not a lot of use to me.

Thanks for the "good" information.
If I bring my files (Excel and word) on a thumb drive, will I be able to use those files? Update my diary - on the thumb drive- etc?
Any idea about Windows? Hopefully Win7.

I will be on the Riviera in a couple of weeks and I understand that there will be a computer available for me in my PH.
Does anyone know what version of Windows is on that computer and if MS Office is also loaded? Hopefully it will be Win7.
Thanks . . . .

JHP,
I'm looking forward to the new ship too. The last ship I sailed on with single rooms was the RVL Star (now the Black Watch) in the '80s.
I suspect I would prefer a double even though I am a single now.

we'll have to wait and see!

Jackie,
I think Elaine's (sea lover) point is that virtually all cabins are 200% for singles - Crystal for example is less (150% I think). Between the people who are out priced by the new policy and others who sailed with Regent in the past, before that policy came into effect and object on principal, it is a reason not to sail with Regent.
Yes, I know that previously a PH was 200% for singles and that some of the Concierge cabins are 175% now but the standard cabins were not 200% in the past.
Apparently the new rule has not stopped the ship from filling up.
Just to clarify.

Jackie,
I think Buggins0402 is correct - I checked CruiseCal and it looks like the Insignia is in St Kitts on the 8th and we are there on the 9th. Unless you know something else.
Peggy

Jackie,
Which port are we with the Insignia?

Leaving the light on in the closet works as a nightlight too.

The walls are metal . . . .
Actually, I have a magnetic clock but don't take it any more since it's a pain to change the time. (nor do I think it has an alarm)

JR Lustig: thanks for the update . . . . I must have missed it.

I am booked on the November 29 Riviera cruise and David Shermet is listed as the CD. If he is no longer with Oceania, it is possible that JR Lustig might be his replacement. JR goes between Regent and Oceania as CD.
I sailed with him over the summer and he does a very good job.
This is purely a guess. I have no facts.

I don't think the OP has posted yet. He is on the West Coast.

Thanks for this Jackie.

I agree with Ridolphi regarding the Crew Fund. I'm a big fan of this. It's wonderful way to help all the crew.
Please think about making a contribution before you leave the ship.

Like TC2, I sail Regent for the experience but have always enjoyed the included tours.
Dinner on Crystal: either early or late seating (6pm or 8:30pm). Dinner by reservation is just that: make a reservation ahead of time and show up for that time.
There is flexibility but you cannot just arrived and expect to be seated, Which is how it works on Regent.

JHP,
So right!

gwain6,
You're right. Someone was disembarked for not going to a drill.
From the article:>> The statement did not mention if there were other circumstances surrounding the debarkation<<

gwain6,
I don't think I ever remember anyone being put off the ship for skipping a drill - I think a letter is sent to your cabin. I suppose if someone was on for a number of b2b and still refused to attend drills, this might be a possibility but not under "normal" circumstances.
I was on the RVL Sun when she hit a reef off Egypt a long time ago. This was before the drills were 100% mandatory and some of the very long time cruisers aboard who did not attend drills had no idea where they were to go.
Fortunately for all of us, we did not have to abandon the ship but it was an "interesting" experience.
Yes, I go to every drill and listed carefully to all the instructions.

Glad to help

It's not just Regent . . it's SOLAS.

Yes, the drill is before sail-away.

Office on my iPad: I thought about it but have not done it - yet.
I may have to rethink that.
Thanks . . . Peggy
