  1. That is a completely reasonable price for the Retreat, not $1000 a day.
  2. I would rather pay $1000 a day for Regent and get all the inclusions they offer. Suite pricing has gotten quite expensive lately and I often wonder why people will pay that amount for Celebrity versus sailing on a true Luxury line for the same price or less.
  3. The only ship that I have seen consistent 80% or more number on is Silhouette out of the UK, the others, not so much. Either way, I am sure the Maitre D can find them a table to their liking.
  4. If you are talking about a golf style shirt, they are certainly allowed. I have seen plenty of T-shirts as well over the years. Please just avoid shorts and tank tops (men) in the MDR or Specialty restaurants.
  5. My DW has some anxiety issues and I always ask to be seated away from others or in the corner/wall for less traffic. We have never had a problem with others dining that close based on our requests. With fewer people sailing right now, it is pretty easy to get a table of separation if you want one. Feel free to try Tuscan if you want but the MDR is pretty good and Tuscan is not worth the money for an entire cruise.
  6. My DW just booked a free casino cruise for her and her sister so between the 4 bottles they bring on board, elite happy hour drinks and some free cocktails in the casino, they should be OK!
  7. You are only charged a corkage if you DO NOT have a beverage package and you open it in a restaurant. If you drink in room, NO corkage. The bottle size is a 750 but you could inquire about just bringing one magnum. As for the corkage fee, if I am bringing wine onboard, it's usually a $50-500 dollar bottle from home that I would have to pay double or more to buy, so the corkage is very much worth it.
  8. Just say NO when they try to seat you there. My DW has some anxiety issues and I always ensure she is on the wall or in the corner away from high traffic areas. They will accommodate you if you ask for a different table.
  9. Although it's a bit annoying not getting to select a time, my experience from the other 10 cruises on X we have taken since September is nobody really cares. We just show up when we feel like it and get processed through with no issues. Sometimes we are early, sometimes we are late. If you have the earliest time, be prepared for the ship to get cleaned and cleared so you may be waiting upwards of an hour. For suite guests, that is no issue because they have a catered waiting area, for others, it's just hurry up and wait.
  10. Certain items can take up to a year. We purchased a bronze sculpture in Feb and I just called them the other day to inquire. They easily looked up my name within minutes and gave me the answer I was looking for.
  11. You could take the train around Europe and probably return via Cunard into NY and then the train home.
  12. Have you called Park West?
  13. Your agent does not help a Move Up, that is on you. Go to the Move Up site (google it) and enter your reservation # and last name and hit enter. Some travel agencies DO NOT participate in this and you may not be eligible. You need to be within 30 days according to X but I have seen cruises allow bids at 60 days as well. Since you are willing to pay anything, just cancel the cruise and book a larger suite.
  14. Once I lose my Diamond status with Hilton, I may branch out to other establishments on 17th. I have always liked Hyatt Place rooms as well.
  15. We did not fly for this trip, we were on a multi stop vacation and took the train from LA to the DC for a week and then the train down to Ft. Lauderdale. The suitcase never left our possession so I tried to be gentle with it. If we were flying, not sure I would have brought that bottle due to handling and temperature changes.
  16. At the time I purchased it, it was a fraction of the current pricing and yes, it was as safe as I could make it. I used a padded wine suitcase to carry it and a few others with us.
  17. 100% walkable. There is tons of stuff there within a 1/2 mile. I suggest getting a burger at Gilbert's 17th Street Grill. We normally stay at the Embassy Suites just up the road and have never needed a car.
  18. You will need to provide a negative result taken with 3 days of departure. The information is on X's website. It's ridiculous but it is what it is.
  19. For all the 7 night Solstice cruises out of LA, you will still need to get tested within 3 days of departure.
  20. Same issue for my wife and her mother. They are just above you on the hump and it says Deluxe Oceanview as well. It definitely is not, enjoy the hump balcony.
  21. They will but with the timing of dinner, it may not open up effectively. Try going down and hour or two early and having it decanted then.
