Majesty of the Seas-What is the real story?

Is it a nice ship with great food?

Or a dump that should be laid to rest in the bottom of the ocean?

I am getting mixed reviews when I do a search. A lot of the reviews I am finding are older. I am looking to book another cruise. The itinerary is actually key to all of this. (Also the casino :D)

The schedule for other cruiselines in Key West and Nassau, SUCK!!!!!

However, the one for Majesty of the Seas is great allowing LOTS of time for both places.

So what is the real story here? Anyone? Buehler? Here ye Here ye! :D

Just got off the 4 day last week. The ship looks great for her age. Agree that cabins are tiny. We had a great time!!!

Which cabin size were you in?

That is two pluses for the decor of the ship?

I like to hear food reports, casino reports, and ports of call reports.

So far so good.

I was considering Navigator of the Seas going to Jamaica but after reading that thread about security squeezing private parts I think I will opt out of that one. LOL! Now considering the Majesty ship.

Actually the inside cabins are 119/sq feet vs outside cabins 222 square feet according to RCCL website. Never sailed Majesty, but did sail the Sovereign (even a 7 day cruise when she was brand new) On my last cruise on her a year or two before she transferred out of her, we didn't find the inside cabin to be too stifling. Based on your itinerary and you obvious interest spending time on the islands I don't think difference in size makes much difference.

Obviously if you like the windows or portholes for sunlight then that is another story.

I'd always take Navigator over Majesty (though like the stop in KW) just because I think the ship has much much more of a WOW factor.

Great point but the problem with Navigator this time is the ports of call and the time spent there.

They have on that only goes to Cozumel and NOTHING ELSE.

Then the Jamaica cruise which goes to Labadee. I was just there. I don't want to see those crummy burgers again. :p

I wish the Navigator had more choices for on 4/5 nighters.

Yes I love the itinerary on Majesty but like to be in a large cabin.

Anyone know about the sizes of the balcony and suites on the Majesty?

I would take Majesty over Navigator any day. Not the biggest and no main Promenade or ice skating, but the atmosphere on board is the best of any RCCL ship, very festive and great CD/entertainment staff when we sailed ( x 2) very friendly and personable, all of them, plus you don't have to walk half a mile to get anywhere on Majesty.

Key West-a fun and quirky place, you can take the Conch Train around town for around $25 you get a narrated tour which gives you a good history of the place and hits all the hot spots ... Cocoa Cay-bliss,all the private islands are to me...... Nassau - umm it's OK. Not much of a downtown but some nice old Government buildings, I think it's heyday was probably in the 50's and 60's and not much has been done to improve the city since then- the big attraction seems to be the Atlantis resort for the water parks and aquarium( it also has a casino). I have never gambled ( don't know how) no objection to those who do, but I can't help with Casino information. Others who like Nassau more can probably recommend some places to go.

We've had an obstructed OV on Deck 8 and an OV on Deck 5, both just big enough to walk around the bed, but I don't care- the price is right, we sleep and shower and leave, and on the 4 day cruise don't have time to take a nap so don't spend a lot of time there.

Your reply is great. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Looks like the rooms are very very small. Still looking for sizes of balconies and suite rooms as well as how the food is.

Looks like no problem on the itinerary though.

We were in one of the small 122 square foot cabins. There are larger oceanview cabins, I think 157 square feet which is not really large at all. We liked the food but that is just us, I read a post from someone that was on the same sailing as us saying that they did NOT like the food.

Uh oh! Looks like one report that the food was no good and one report it was good (from your experience). I am hoping for some other replies. Thanks for chiming in on the sizes and the food report. :D

Yo: out of our 10 cruises, Majesty in August had perhaps the best food since the early 2000s. Things have really changed in the last 5 years, but we thought even the WJ food was terrific. Better than some of the newer ships. Our interior was small but bareable. New decor is awesome. She's a grand old dame. We did a B2B and loved it thoroughly.

Oh wow BecciBoo. Thanks for the short review. Hopefully, others who have sailed her had the same experience with the food. I loved hearing that you though the food was better than the newer ships. One point goes in the Majesty voting box.

We enjoyed our first cruise (inside tiny cabin) so much we went a second time (tiny ov). The food was good enough to make a picky eater gain five pounds in four days! Would I go on Majesty again? Yes, in a heartbeat!

Thanks for checking the thread out, Granny.

I appreciate the reply. This is a great help.

What is with the tiny rooms though?

Anyone stay in a balcony or a suite? I am looking for info on those cabins.

I've been on the Majesty four times.

I absolutely adore that little, old ship. It's always my choice for a quick getaway.

The prices are great. The ship is older and smaller, but it's well kept. The food is good, and the staff is phenomenal.

Does it have all of the amenitites of the big ships?? No, but for a quick getaway you don't need all of the bells and whistles.

I've even taken a much needed weekend away by myself (my husband rocks) on her.

I've had insides and oceanviews. Never a balcony or suite on her. For me, it wasn't worth the extra price....I just hung out on deck when I wanted fresh air.

I actually was just checking out prices on her for the weekend after Christmas. I wouldn't hesitate to sail on her again.

LOL-I should just pick a date and all of those that love her so much can book it. Call it the Majestry Appreciation Cruise. :D

Anyone know anything about their casino?

I just love the Majesty. We were on her in January and I'm doing a "girls trip" in November. Food is good. Never had problems there. Yes, the cabins are small but it's port intensive and you don't have any sea days, so you are really not in the rooms that much at all. Plus they give you lots of storage so you're not tripping over each other, even in the tiny interior rooms. I may be wrong, but I don't believe the Majesty has standard balcony rooms. Just interior, ocean view and suites. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am incorrect.
