aricczona Posted December 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Ok, my other thread dealt with favorites in the main dining room. First time cruiser here, and vacatiion memories for me are always linked to the flavors of the experience. Ive gotten lots of great entree suggestions from the group, my question now is "whats your favorite room service treat?":D
MrPete Posted December 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I've always wanted to try one of those oft raved about BLT's, but I'm never hungry when I'm in the room! I've yet to have ever used the service!
GlendaleCruiser Posted December 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2009 BLT is my favorite, but I haven't tried anything else. That's how much I like it. Next time I am determined to try the steak and brie sandwich I hear people raving about. I like the MDR, too, so don't miss many of those in the evening. aricczona Posted December 16, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I've seen the room service menu and the steak and brie does seem to call out to me most. However; myinner child still makes me want a PBJ and some milk before bed too
falfal2k2 Posted December 16, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Somehow I've gotten through two carnival cruises without even knowing there was a room service option, but I agree - steak and brie will definitely meet my stomach by the end of my next cruise :)
Azure Moon Posted December 16, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I've heard so many raves about the BLTs, but I'm another cruiser who has never used room service. Maybe one day...
newlife_2010 Posted December 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I have never had room service. I am making a plan to try everything on the menu during my 8 day cruise. Is room service the the MDR, can you order as much as you want? Like a PBJ and a chicken wrap?
gargoyle999 Posted December 16, 2009 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I really like the BLT's. They have a shrimp salad sandwich that I think is ok, DW didn't like the taste though. I ordered room service for breakfast and got my BLT's and shrimp salad sandwich since that's the only time I could "fit it in"! :D I also ordered a grilled cheese on the Miracle. It tasted fine but was pretty much cooled off by the time I got it so I'll just stick to my 2 faves.
Froufie Posted December 16, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I always try to order the tuna salad (with a side of potato chips) at least once on each cruise - like a 'comfort food' for me :D.....and sometimes before dinner I will order the veggies and dip (so I won't be drinking on an empty stomach!)....but of course I may have already had my sushi snack so not that hungry? I hear the desserts are good (altho I have never ordered this thru room service) and I would like to try the blt or steak sandwich as others rave about them - but not always that hungry! I do use the 'breakfast' room service card often (usually for those early morning port days) and LOVE my smoked salmon and bagel......

gargoyle999 Posted December 16, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I also thought the New York Cheesecake tasted good. It's a bit "whipped" compared to what I like as far as texture. Normally cheesecake is more dense. I figure it lets them use less filling. But it tasted good all the same.
JRock59 Posted December 16, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I love the pbj but here's a warning it's toasted and warm! :) We use room service when coming back on the ship from a port as the lines on the lido deck can be long. ;) We order, one of us takes a shower and it's usually delivered while the other one is in the shower. There have been times where we split something so not to ruin dinner but to tide us over. :p We like using roomservice the 1st night on the 2nd half of a B2B as the MDR can be both hectic and slow the first night of a cruise. It's really the only night we use it for dinner but I do love my breakfast on the balcony! :D
LemurCat Posted December 16, 2009 #13 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I can honestly say there is nothing from the room service menu that I crave. Most of it is utility food at best. The roast beef and brie is servicable. I think most of Carnival's deli offerings are sub-Subway, personally.
a4ofspades Posted December 16, 2009 #14 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Chocolate cake, hands down. :D I like the cheesecake as well but it seems to vary slightly ship to ship...but the chocolate cake is ALWAYS perfection. So, um....I see by the responses that they have sandwiches as well?????? LOL
Sargent_Schultz Posted December 16, 2009 #15 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Even though room service is included, don't forget to tip. Room services tips are not included with the standard tips.

yogi2929 Posted December 16, 2009 #17 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Auto-tips are basically for the MDR & Buffet waiters/buspeople and roomstewards. Purchases at the bar get tipped at 15%, tacked onto the bill. Other people tip- Casino Dealers, Spa Staff, Camp Counselors, Maitre 'd, room service. Sargent_Schultz Posted December 16, 2009 #18 Share Posted December 16, 2009 OMG - Thank you I did not know this. What are things are NOT included in the tip pre pay? The standard tips cover your room steward(s) and the MDR waiter(s) and Lido. The things everybody uses during a cruise. Extra service usually gets extra tips. For room service, maybe a buck or two, or perhaps more, depending on how much stuff you order. Gamblers might tip dealers in the casino. People who have spa treatments might tip for those. SMSACE6 Posted December 16, 2009 #19 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I have never been able to eat much of a breakfast, so I really like the room service for breakfast, a croissant, or a toasted bagle and cream cheese, and coffee of course! Then I can relax in my room a little longer in the morning. I have never used room service for anything else, but I plan to try the Blt or the Steak and Brie next cruise! Especially when I cruise alone, it is a nice option. :)
navybaby1113 Posted December 16, 2009 #20 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I love the roast beef and brie, but I always forget to order it without the mustard. Ick! The chocolate cake is very yummy too!
Texarribean Chick Posted December 16, 2009 #21 Share Posted December 16, 2009 1. open face tuna fish 2. cold black bean burrito 3. blt 4. brownie/cookie assortment In that order - nothing like late night munchies!
Drew B Posted December 16, 2009 #22 Share Posted December 16, 2009 I like to get a cabin on the Lido deck and grab food to bring back to my cabin rather than ordering room service. Even if I want a sandwich, I think the ones you get from the deli are better than from room service. Also, you can swing by the grill and get fries to go with them... LemurCat Posted December 16, 2009 #25 Share Posted December 16, 2009 Can someone explain the New York Deli to me? What types of sandwiches do they have? But have no illusions about them actually being like sandwiches you would get from a real NY deli. They're not. More over, there is no Italian on the menu. And they're very, very small. HOW CAN IT BE A NY DELI IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PROVOLONE CHEESE, CARNIVAL?!
