An illustrated guide to Constellationizing the Solstice Ambience

According to information released yesterday to the travel industry, the "Solsticizing" of the other three M class ships will be over the next 3-4 years.

Thanks for the reply:) and that sounds logical if they are going to do

1 ship per year;)

I hope the designer of that piece of furniture has been demoted.

It has to be the most useless feature of the new S-Class.

We're about to embark on Infinity for a B2B. For the first time we will evaluate our reaction to out of date styling, worn furniture and "blemishes" that affect our visual sensation in relation to our January Equinox and Solstice experiences.

I want to know at what point our reaction to negative features such as threadbare furniture and old color choices will counteract our love for the practicality of M-Class design.

Thanks for fixing the pictures. Hope you enjoy Infinity. We hope she survives til Sept. when we sail her in Alaska.

We sailed Solstice & liked it but prefer the M. Feels like home.

Happy Cruising!

Faith

Wild guess is that they will redo the ships in the following order: Connie 2010, Summitt 2011, Infinity 2012 and Millie 2013. The Millie really needs the least attention as she just went through a multi-million $$$ refit during her last drydock.

Now if they would only give the Mercury a facelift similar to what they did on the Century and keep her in the fleet all would be right with the world :) ! But, alas, I fear her Winter 2010-2011 Baltimore/Charleston season may be her last under the celebrity banner. I look to see her sailing alongside her sibling as MeinSchiff 2 by summer 2011 :(

You may get your wish. Mercury received the highest ratings in the Summer and Fall in the fleet. Winter has had problems and with Mein Schiff only sailing at about 69% capacity, there is a good chance Mercury might remain another year.

We will know for sure when the new itineraries come out over the next few weeks

I agreed with the sofa in the cabin of Solstice. My husband has back problem, he said it is very uncomfortable to sit there watching TV or read. We love the Spa area and Cova café on the M class, the croissant is the best at 8:15 AM when you can get them piping hot fresh from the oven! This is the reason we have booked the April 5 Millennium sailing.:)

We Feel the martini bar on the Mille class was boring! We loved the feel of the one on Solstice went there all the time! If you want quiet thats what a May I suggest the Wine bar? ! A real Martini bar should be hip, with cool music, its an entertainment venue itself! We are with Friends next March again on the Summit but we are all talking on how we will miss the Solstice Martini bar.

S class Martini Bar vs M class Martini Bar

Guess it all depends on ones background and perhaps age as to what is hip :) and cool.

Infinity's Martini Bar with the hole in the floor to the Rendezvous Lounge filled in and a three Piece (or was it four) jazz group was/is/always will be the hands down winner.

Now if they want to Solsticise the cabins and suites..that would be a real bonus.

Anyone know if the Infinity is scheduled for the same "treatment" also (just because no one mentioned her name)?

The actual schedule so far for the upgrades are CS April 2010. IN October 2011. ML April 2012. That would leave Summit waiting until Fall 2012 or maybe spring 2013

Is it me or does it seem the "new" martini bar is going to be in a much smaller area?

I guess I'll have to just wait and see what happens.

It was mentioned that the Martini bar will "flow" from the Rendezvous right to the Casino.

I think it will still be larger than the bar on S-Class.

As much as we loved the S class, I have to agree, sofa was a useless waste of space, now if it had a hinged seat, we could have used it for storage... why didn't they think of that?

Great Idea!

What is the Schedule for the other ships? I don't think Summit should be last since Millennium is in much better shape right now.

Anyone have the dates?

It was nice meeting you as well... at our favourite place, the Rendezvous dance floor. Nothing about the S-class irritates me more than a design that ignores the people who love to dance and the lack of seating areas for those people who just want to sit and listen to a live band.

On our last Solstice cruise the Sky Observation Lounge was used nightly for live band dancing and crooner type music. My Mom and family ( older members loved it) it was such an amazing room, and we liked that we did not need to walkthrough this area. I do agree the Solstice class could use an area on a lower level, but I enjoy all those areas they have there so not sure where it could go? the entertainment court would work but not enough seating? hmmmm

I really like "Quasar." Obviously a very different ambiance, but lots of fun.

What is the price for dining in the Tuscan Grill? It really looks wonderful!

Thanks Arno for posting.

Oh...this is my 5000th post! I just noticed I am in the 5000 club!

Congrats on the 5,000 posts.

Tuscan charge is $30.00 pp, Murano $35.00. When we sailed on Solstice and Equinox we actually preferred Tuscan.

I have a question about Tuscan Grille. We love dining in the specialty restaurants, and after dining a couple of times in Murano or Ocean Liners (Constellation) we are able to special order items that we have come to like that are not of the regular menu with a day's notice. Is this a possibility in Tuscan Grille as well? The new Tuscan Grille on the Constellation, from the photo, looks like we will want to eat there multiple times. Anyone input will be greatly appreciated.
