Has anyone tried using old Royal Caribbean coupon books?

I have found some Royal Caribbean coupon books (crown and anchor) that I got on other cruises. It doesn't have a date marked on it but I was wondering if anyone has tried using any coupon books from the past?

Seems to me, if there's no date, they should have to honor them. I'd take them with me on my next cruise and just try to use them. They will either take them or not. Can't hurt to try. ;)

You are wrong.

1. They look completely different.

2. Each book has always said: good only on this cruise.

The fact that we could get away with using old coupons in the past has nothing to do with the current situation.

They won't take them.

3. They look completely different.

Can't use the drink coupons but I was able to use all the old casino match plays. I had ten from prior cruises. Of course that's the casino and they want you playing. They didn't even blink at them.

The new cruise coupons seem to have an expiration date of 3/31/10. So I am wondering are their NEWER coupon books coming out and and the PERKS better or worse????

Those are the ones I tried to use on FOS this past summer and they would not take them.

icon1.gifcoupon books not worth it

I just got coupon books for our cruise from our TA's company. Not worth it. You have to buy something to get something.

The free coupon books that you got from your TA are not worth anything so you are hoping to use some expired C&A coupons instead?

I don´t think anybody wíll know if they are changed at all and if they are changed if its for the better or worse, though that´s always in the eye of the beholder anyway.

I think the main reason for an expiration date is the topic of this thread. Those coupons are meant to be used on the cruise given and too many people in the past started using them on other cruises or even giving them away or selling them. JMO.

We did the same thing. The expiration dates were for until the end of March (I think). We used up the match plays we didn't use on the ship in Jan & Feb on the 2nd 1/2 of the back to back. We just had forgotten to use them. They won't accept old offers, like Johnny Rockets anymore. ...for sure. But, hey, if you don't mind taking a chance of them refusing your coupon, give it a try. You did earn it, they can't keel haul ya.

I doubt they'll be different; probably they just expire so you don't stockpile them to use/sell/giveaway later.

Marci22, I used mine on the FOS last years Labor Day cruise. Must be the dealers. I didn't ask any questions and mixed them up with the new coupons. Funny some were from when I was a gold and platinum member. So they all looked different and were wrinkled, still made no difference.

Glad I got rid of them. I was kicking myself for not have used them earlier, still mad about all the free drinks & JRs coupons I never used.

Consiering they sometimes print match-play coupons in the Compass, I'm guessing they are a bit more lenient with those. I can almost guarantee you they won't take any of the old photo coupons (especially free) ... they always seemed reluctant to take those when they were completely valid.

I think they are getting stricter with the coupons... recently on the Navigator, I used a coupon for a specialty coffee at Seattle's Best. Not only did I have to fill out the folio #, cabin etc. (which I have done sometimes before but not always) then they ran my seapass card through the machine and then I signed a $0.00 receipt. Guess they are keeping track a little better.

I am looking at the coupon book that we received on our 11 day cruise last November on Radiance. They are as PrincessScuba said...........completely different in look, in the type of paper used, in contents, where the information must be filled in and in size.

In our book, on each coupon, it does say Valid During THIS CRUISE....then it says

Version 13:04/01/2009

Expiration: 03/31/2010

Me too.....although I am not sure that it was to keep trackof the coupon so much as to charge the proper department on the ship-that's what the gal in the cafe on Ex told me.....that seems to be the only place that really cared!

Heck, I didn't think about keeping my old match coupons...but they probably honor them because they are offered again in the new coupon booklets.

I can't remember do the new coupon booklets say they are only good for the existing sailing like the old ones did?

I had 5 free drink with specialty glass coupons left from previous cruises and used them on Navigator on Feb 2010 and March 2010 B2B cruises. I used them at the casino bar. Bartenders had never seen them before but let me use them and gave me the specialty glass as well.

Its worth a try because as previous posters have stated the new books coupons are much larger. The new books do have expiration dates as well. Additionally the coupons are nothing like in the past, and we threw most of them away.

RCCL should save what it costs to print them. jmho

The dealers are the only ones who seem to have variable personalities onboard: some are really helpful and friendly and others are just terrible, awful; I don't know how they keep their jobs.

Anyway after that I just threw out all my coupons and I had a big stack.
