Could someone please help me understand what Carnival is implying on this. Because I am not getting the same thing as they say. I have booked the ES.

Dear

Thank you for contacting Carnival Cruise Lines. We have received your e-mail message and appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

Please be advised price protections are for all guests. We show the 1/2 rates have decreased by $10, however, 3rd rate has increased by $ 50.00. Please advise how to proceed.

If there is anything else we can do for you please don't hesitate to ask.

I don't see where there was a rate increase because when I go to book it. It is still $679.00 for first 2 and 289.00 for the 3rd person. So what are they talking about. I feel really stupid here:confused: not understanding what they mean.

And where do they expect me to go? Are they saying I am going to have to pay a higher price for the 3rd person Example: was $289.00 now they are going to charge me $339.00? Because that's not how its coming up on Carnivals websight.

Sorry if I confuse you because I am totally confused myself.:(

Grab a screen shot next time as they are going to attempt to screw you out of it.

Lulu - You have me confused as well.

One place you say 'what I paid', then you say 'when I went back to book'.....?

Had you booked and paid a deposit before you got the email?

If so, they can't increase your fares.

If you hadn't actually done this, but were planning on it.....then yes, there could have been an incease, which you'll have to pay.

Think of it this way, you're saving $20 on the first two passengers, but paying $50 more on the third. A difference of only $30.:)

The body of the letter refers to fact that ES Price protection applies to the total actually booked Fare change for ALL passengers (Passengers 1 &2 and Passengers 3 & 4) in the cabin. Often the Fare for PAX 1 & 2 goes down, but the fare for PAX 3 & 4 goes UP - you have to add the total PAX 1 & 2 Decrease PLUS the total PAX 3 & 4 Increase, to see if the total fare has decreased or increased. I didn't check the detailed breakdown. ken

Sorry about confusing you. But that's where they have left me. I booked this cruise almost a year ago. We got the early saver. It has been dropping in price so I have been submitting the es forms for price drops. Well, the price dropped from $699.00 to $679.00 and the third person price has stayed the same since I have booked from the beginning. So that is why I am confused now. When you go to book this on Carnivals websight, You will still get the same price for the 3rd person. So I don't see where she is telling me its more. Get what I mean

PS: When I talk about going back to booking it. I went as though I had not booked yet to see if the price had dropped.

That's my problem Ken. The 3rd persons fare still shows the same as I paid when I booked in the first place. It's never went up or down. So that is where Carnival is confusing me.

Carnival says 3rd person went up by $50, on the rate that you are say you are looking at. Could it be teh 3rd person rate is the same on ES, but not on the rate you said the other two went down on... Im stumped as well since I dont have the figures or know what you are seeing or what you paid in total.

Ok so you are seeing

Pax 1 & 2 decrease by $20 per person and Pax 3 stayed the same

They are seeing Pax 1 & 2 decrease by $10 per person and Pax 3 increasing by $50

Obviously you guys are not all looking at the same booking rate. Are you using ES rate to compare, residental, past guest????

If I were you, I'd do a print screen of both the page where you are seeing the current fares, AS WELL AS the screen under your booking that shows what you are currently booked at. Submit them both so they can see what you are booked at is what the site shows now.

I went in like I was booking a new cruise. (Which I have done with every price drop I have gotten so far). So I put the date, residental, past guest. And I chose ES as that is what I purchased. And Yes I see: Pax 1 & 2 decrease by $20 per person and Pax 3 stayed the same. Pax 3 has never changed since I have been checking the fares since I booked this cruise.

So this is where they are confusing me now. If pax 3's fare has not changed then I should be getting the $20.00 PP discount for the first 2 pax.:(

The fare op is trying to match isn't even a special fare. It's not a PG, residential or anything. Anyone can get the rate. I just pulled it up without selecting a state or PG. Just a straight early saver booking. No idea what Carnival is looking at but it's not right.

I just checked the rates under both ES and the 3/4 promo rate and I show what you show. 1st and 2nd guests are $679 and the 3rd guest is $289. Print the screen and try it again. Hope it works for you.

You've received price drops on this cruise already? Are you comparing the prices for this current drop to your original fare or to your fare after a previous price drop? From my understanding, every time you get a price drop, you "reset" the fare you paid to that new amount, meaning if you paid $699 originally, got a drop when the fare went to $689, then now you see it at $679, you'd not get a $20 different (699vs679) but a $10 (689vs679). If your previous price drop also had your 3rd pax rate reset lower, even if the 3rd pax rate is the same now as you originally booked it would be higher than your reset fare after your previous price drop, which it may have been $50 cheaper before...:confused: Just speculating... :(

OP - this was also my question. I thought you mentioned that you had several price drops - there's not much room from your booked Fare for PAX 1 and 2 to the current fare, unless maybe the PAX 3 Rate WAS changing and your last Price Adjustment you actually ended-up with a higher PAX 3 rate than you realized????

And as Tenga mentions, each time you get a Price Drop your current ES Rate is adjusted accordingly, so each price drop is relative to your current ES rate, not to your originally booked rate??

Otherwise, I'd re-submit and offer a screen-shot of the current rate (I also checked other TA sites and they're consistent with the Carnival-displayed rate).

Either Carnival is seeing a different current ES Rate than is on their site (and several TA sites) -or- they see a different current ES Rate than you think you have.

Yes I am going from the last price drop rate. I originally booked @$739.00 for first 2 pax and $289.00 for 3rd. The price dropped to $729.00 and was the same rate for 3rd. I summited the form and got the credit. Then it went from $729.00 to $699.00 so I again summited a form and received the credit. This last time it dropped from $699.00 to $679.00 summited the form and got back what I orginally posted. All of these price drops the 3rd passenger remained at $289.00 it has never changed.

This is why I don't understand what they are saying being its been the same thing each and every time. Does this make sense now to my question?

TIA

I'd get on the phone with your PVP and have them go over the rates on the phone with you and have them explain it. I also see $679 for passenger 1&2 and $289 for passenger 3. Maybe they have a rate of $239 on your records for passenger 3. But I'd definately talk to a PVP about this, we can only speculate, they can explain what is going on (sometimes).

It all sounds OK to me. Every so often you read a post where Carnival must have looked at wrong rate or maybe misinterpreted somethin. I'd re-submit referencing today's date for the Fares (if they're still same today) and attach/insert or offer to provide printout of todays rates. I'd also indicate in comments your original booking fares PAX 1&2 and PAX 3, and your current ES Rate (after your accumulated price drops) for PAX 1&2 and PAX3. Post your results?

Lulu - Nope, I'm still confused.

OK, what I would do is call Carnival and ask for a PVP SUPERVISOR. If he/she can't straighten this out for you....I'm at a loss.

Forget about any further emails....a call is what is needed...asap.

1875.39 is the total for 3ppl on a 7c balcony. 679 1 &2 289 for 3rd. do a screen shot/print page because if that is what the rate is for your cabin/class they should give you the discount. as one person stated CALL but save the page of pricing!

Well, it seems NO one at Carnival seems to know what happened. All they can make sense of is that at my last request before this one I was given a $70.00 credit. I had a $30.00 credit pp for pax 1 & 2 coming. They gave a $10.00 xtra credit for the 3rd passenger.

With this $679.00 credit I would be down to $1647.00 (not with tax). But before this credit they took me down to $1617.00 (not with tax). $30.00 difference. They seem to think that the PVP noticed that my 3rd fare had gone down and that they showed my 1 & 2 pax fares already being lowered again and went ahead and gave it to me with my request and me not even knowing it. Guess it was my lucky day!!!

I'm still confused. And I think the girl on the phone was still confused herself. But either way she says I am $30.00 a head. Confused?? LOL you should of been in on the phone conversation  My head is still swirling. And I still don't even know if this is right.
