London Hotel recommendation?

We are spending 2 nights in London, next summer (2011) , pre-cruise.

That gives us a full day to tour Londons ,typical tourist ,must see sites (for someone who has never been there and probably won't return).

Looking for a hotel central to the must see sites and/or transit.

We are Marriott types . Do any of the Marriott's fit the bill?

 

What are some other simular choices (looking for quality at reasonable rates) :o

Hi from the UK! I'm not American but I am a Marriott type and I highly recommend the London County Hall Marriott. I've stopped in many London hotels but this one is top of my list. The views alone are priceless... I can guarantee if you book a river view room you will have the best view in the whole of London (apart from the one from the London Eye which will be right outside your window).

 

It is on the banks of the Thames. From your room you will be able to see The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Waterloo Bridge, Downing Street & The London Eye. You can catch a boat to the Tower of London from right outside the hotel and if you have a head for hights you can

ride on the famous London Eye.

 

Not sure about Marriott's site in the US but on the UK one there is a video tour of the hotel which is worth watching.

I strongly recommend reading this very forum. The question is asked very often, and there is a lot of accumulated wisdom which won't necessarily be repeated for you on your thread.
