We were there in Feb of this year. No shoes, just toes in the sand. Sand is more gritty, but not enough to bother you. It was warmer then white sand but not much.

We just walked off the ship and started talking to the taxi drivers. Told them we wanted to see a black sand beach, Mr Nices fruit stand, crushed school bus and a tour around town. There were four of us. Got one driver to do it for $75 for all. He took us to the places we wanted plus a few other spots. Tour lasted about 4 1/2 hours.

And my favorite USA beach, Orange Beach, AL. These were taken Easter weekend, BEFORE being despoiled by the horrible oil. Let's all hope these beautiful beaches can be restored. Grrrrr.....

[SIZE=3]subtchr: gorgeous pics....I always thought Bermuda was cold way up there in the Atlantic! Was it warm? And I know they invented Bermuda Shorts there, but my parents went once and complained about the cold water. Couldn't find a more beautiful spot than that beach and that water!!!![/SIZE]

We have only been to the Caribbean a couple times, but nothing we have seen there came close to the beauty of Bermuda's south shore beaches! The pink sand, the clear, turquoise water, and the scenic rocky outcroppings just blew us away.

We were just there last week, and the water was perfect - warm enough to be able to stay in a very long time (we snorkeled for several hours), yet cool enough to be refreshing. We read that the water IS a bit on the cool side until June, but from mid- to late June through September it's great.

We were docked at King's Wharf (where all the big ships dock), on the west end of the island. The amazing south shore beaches are an easy public bus ride away (Bus #7). We used public transportation all over the island, with a ferry to St. George and buses to Hamilton, the beaches, and back to Kings Wharf.

Not your typical warm tropical beach but one I've spent hours walking along.
This was taken in February on the beach that stretches for miles in Galveston. Yes, that is someone surfing out there.

Oh my gosh, there is no way that picture can be real! That water is probably the most gorgeous blue that I have ever seen! Is it sad that after looking at this picture, I immediately looked up which cruises would get me to that beach? :D
