How many purses/totes/beach bags do you bring on a cruise?

How many purses etc do you bring on a cruise with you?

I did a search and was a bit surprised not to find a thread for this as its always a big debate I have with myself. Maybe it isn't as controversial for many or maybe I missed the thread, but I am curious how many people bring along on a 7 day cruise?

I usually bring my main bag/purse, a small evening bag that's not overly "fancy" so I can bring it along on casual dining nights, and a canvas tote/beachbag for sea days and beach days. This also doubles as a carry-on if I bought too much stuff since my purse fits in it - otherwise it packs nicely (doesn't take up much room)

I am going on a cruise in about a month and I am thinking about bringing along a crossbody bag in a waterproof material instead of my purse because on my last cruise in europe my gorgeous leather purse got ruined in the rain. I am also thinking of skipping the evening bag since I rarely use it when cruising.

Any advice? Any suggestions? Not so much looking for brands/what to buy so much as what do you bring a long with you?

I do like you. My main bag, which MUST be big for all the important stuff. Air tickets, hotel, cruise docs, ipod.....small cross body for the everything after that, and sometimes a tote, sometimes not. I do have a few nice beaded evening bags, and that all depends on my mood when I pack. LOL

Let's see....I take a large purse for travel/boarding, a small black cross body bag and one black evening bag. I do have a rolled up nylon carry bag, but that is on a caribiner clipped to the side of my carry on, does that count? I typically only use it for the beach/pool.

I once had a small duffle my husband didn't mind carrying, I liked that better than a beach tote since I prefer not to have all the carrying chores.

I take a tote bag that is used as my carry-on, beach, and pool bag. I also take a small cross over bag that is wallet sized. I also take 2 mesh back packs that fold up really small and have the kids carry the towels in them when we do a beach day.

I bring a mid-size tote for the pool and beach. I bring a small purse for my key, lipstick, comb, tissues, etc.... I bring an evening bag for those "formal" nights....

I have my regular purse that I carry onto and off the ship at the beginning and end of the cruise...I don't need it once onboard, so the wallet goes in the safe...and the personal items go in my little bag to carry about the ship. It's too far to run back to the cabin for "touch-ups" when needed!

Hi: I carry a decent size bag for boarding, carrying all necessities! (Used to carry a super large bag, but not needed). Then I have a smaller bag to throw stuff in on board, i.e. cash for casino, cards, lipstick, and a couple of misc. items.

Evenings I carry a smaller evening bag casual (2) and 1 dressy evening bag for Formal (or not) Nights.

1 waterproof beach tote for beach days. That's it for me :-)

Like most, I have a larger handbag for boarding with lots of compartments. I keep a small wristlet type bag inside with my ID, credit cards, lip gloss and a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer. Once onboard I stow the big bag and take the small wristlet bag instead. I also take a small black dressy clutch for evenings. I used to bring a tote, but now I bring a lightweight backpack so hubby can carry our snorkeling stuff, light beach towels, sunscreen, and a couple of bottles of water when we do a beach excursion. I keep it light and try not to use him as a pack mule! But he used to end up carrying my tote anyway and he prefers the backpack.

I'm planning on bringing 2 clutches (one casual, one more dressy), a mesh bag for our snorkel gear, a small-ish canvas tote for anything i may want to bring to the pool or on excursions, and my Timbuk2 bag which serves as both my everyday "purse" and the case for my DSLR and lenses.

Let's see.... I really have to think/figure this one out.

For my airplane carry on, I use a carryon bag. I put all my tickets, etc... in the outside zipper pouch of it inside a wristlet bag.

For shore excursions, I use a "diaper bag" of sorts. Doesn't look like a diaper bag, but has a hard bottom so it stands up, has the cold spots that you would put baby bottles but we put water bottles there, a zipper section for our cards, money etc... and enough room in the middle for my camera bag (medium size), sunscreen, wipes, gel etc...

For the ship, I carry around the camera bag with the wristlet bag inside.

Same for dinner. Always have my camera bag with me.

So I guess for me...

1. Wristlet bag

2. "Diaper bag"

3. Camera bag

I have a very large purse that is great for traveling as it can hold a ton of stuff, I carry it on the plane but leave it in the room once we are on the ship. My husband usually carries a backpack that we use for excursions/beach days. Any items I want to take on shore go in the backpack. I have a RC bag that I sometimes use as a carryon on the plane and then will use it around the pool for sunscreen, books, etc. Never used an evening bag on a cruise.

As we are leaving soon for a cruise, I am starting to pack. I will be carrying my handbag, packing the following: a black satin clutch, a gold clutch, a Mary Francis evening bag (because I want to!), a white cross-body bag for excursions. So far, that's all.....so far.........

If flying I have a large bag with many zip compartments. I leave it in the cabin once I board ship. If not flying I have a drawstring back pack that I use for excursions. It also functions as my purse.

And my favorite all time bag is one I purchased from Lands End or LL Bean. It folds up in a little square and I use it for the beach. I like it because I can pack it and it doesn't take up much room and it is light weight. I have used it as a carry on too when returning from a cruise and needed additional packing space.

I don't use any type of purse on board the ship.

I think bags don't generate as much debate because they don't take up as much space in the luggage.

I carry a LOT of bags (and shoes!):

- tote bag to board (in addition to a duffel or garment bag)

- cross-body bag to take ashore

- beach bag for beach days (big enough for towel, water bottles, etc.)

- a minimum of 2 clutches/evening bags for evening

- small fabric bag to wear around the ship on sea days (I'll leave this at home if it's a port intensive cruise)

Hmmm.....4...one for flying, one for dressy, one for other evenings,

and 1 for excursions. I don't bring a totebag for the beach because

the cruiseline always supplies one. The one I would use for a

sightseeing excursion is a crossbody bag in a nylon with inside & outside

pockets that is very lightweight.

I am very low maintenance so the 2 for evenings are quite small.;)

I bring 5 bags

#1 Kipling carry-on tote for my carry-on(fits underneath seat)

#2 My normal every day purse(fits underneath seat)

#3 An over the shoulder purse for sightseeing(and around cruise ship I am never without a purse)

#4 1 evening purse that goes with all my evening outfits

#5 A tote bag which also doubles as a beach bag

I think that covers it for me

Most the time 4.

My carry-on bag is a Nine West Laptop Tote, but my wallet or purse is inside it and I only use the tote on the plane.

Either my Paksafe cross-body bag or just a small cross-body black camera bag is my purse for on shore.

I may use the small camera bag as an evening bag or bring one beaded one.

Usually a cross-body backpack is shipped in the luggage to use in ports that DH and I share the load for jackets or towels, water and emergency granola bars for his blood sugar.

This last cruise, I took my main purse, which has an adjustable shoulder strap, can be worn regular or messenger style. I also took my wallet on a string-a wallet with removeable straps. So when I didn't want my big purse, I had my wallet as a little purse (that way I could still have hands free). I took one bag for the beach, and ended up buying a lovely beaded purse for 'formal' evening on board, simply because I fell in love with it and the price was great. Happy sails.

Only two.

1. Tote that is used as a carry on and for port days when I'm not around water.

2. Beach bag that is used for beach port days and sea days for being around the pool.

At night I didn't carry much. I carried my camera with me everywhere around my wrist. It has a little extra space in there, so I tossed my room key, lip gloss and maybe 1 or 2 small other items that were needed during the evening hours.
