Live...Live....Live from the Oasis 8/28/10 with Merion Mom

Recommended Posts

Concierge discussion:

BOTH Fernando (Ugalde) AND Ricardo (Mock) were concierges in the CL on the Oasis last week.

We never went into the Diamond Lounge after a peek on Day 1, so we have no idea who was in charge there.

Time for the beginning of Progressive Trivia!!!!

OfficeMax of the Seas?

:)

OfficeMax closed all their stores around where I live in 2007 and the nearest store is in Carmel, over 65 miles away. We are talking about the Northern NY suburbs and North Bergen NJ, the home of Paramus and the mall capital of the US with 6 big malls in 30 square miles.! Talk about not being able to compete and giving up.

Hey Big Booper, we lived in Rockland County, first Tappan then New City for 27 years before a band of western cowboy gypsies kidnapped us and deposited us in the great state of Texas 7 years ago. Were we neighbors? I only know Paramus as it relates to the malls, Garden State Plaza being my all time fave. One time we had to drive home.. no parking spots available!

I finally won something at a Meet and Mingle!!!

I won the little plastic box of paper clips, thumb tacks, clips and rubber bands.

Yes, you read that correctly. They are now giving away office supplies.

:D

Did you get the Magnet Board also?

I hope you have as much fun on the Mariner as we did on Oasis!!!

we were on this sailing too.. sorry no live post though choose to do away with computer and phones for the week. Wasn't thrilled with the port changes but it was really needed!! Never been there so it was a change.

Room does need more storage space but we did ok.. We did main dinning opus 4. Rafel from the Dominion Rep was our waiter and he was great!

Didn't get to see too many shows. liked splish splash. My son didn't care for the living room I guess 12 isn't the best age to mix with those 12-17.

He did manage to win the fast and ferious contast for 12-14 yr olds and got a beach towel from fuel.

Did the zip line and rock wall -- also tried my hand at flow rider - did well but have done better in the past.

Did get a great gift from the hubby in Costa Maya - nice new blue/white diamond ring.. ahhh..

HOT oh my was it hot- no air flow which really made it worse.

Only night we felt movement was the night we left nassua.

we had a medical emergency there too.. back out of one dock and right into another one..

Also heard that people were removed from the boat in Costa Maya but not sure if that is true or not.. I know at dinner prior to pulling out of dock they did call for some people to come to the GS desk. not sure if that was realted or not.

We did dune buggy ride in Costa Maya- good nice clean private beach somewhere about 45 min drive from the dock.. so many poor areas really made you realize what you have.

We snuba is Coz. 25 ft deep it was nice. warm water and fish galore.

I survived but was soooo nervous.

Elevators are so slow and not efficient at all, that is my big complaint but wouldn't stop me from returning.

Also on this cruise English is not in the top 3 languages of choice..lol.

We live in Airmont, used to be South Monsey. Did you move before the 17 & 4 interchange was totally redone?

Also, the southern edge of the Garden State Plaza was expanded, including a 14 screen AMC plus Imax. We won't go near there on Saturday especially during the Christmas season madness. And the Nanuet Mall is 90% or more empty, close to being torn down. Killed by the Palisades Mall and all the new malls in Orange County, no reason for Orange County people to come to Rockland or Paramus anymore.

Now back to cruise talk. :)

Hi Lorna sounds like you had a great time onboard, if Reyno is on hols who is the concierge in there now.

Hi Tom! It's great to hear from you and, yes, we did have a great time.

The Concierges were Ricardo Mock and Fernando Ugalde. There was also a nice young lady who also assisted them.

Not sure why there were 2 1/2 Concierges ... the CL was never crowded.

Carol, does that mean that you're the person we were making fun of, at our M&M, who won those stupid office supplies? Did you also get the magnet (or whatevertheheck the other thing people got when the won the office supplies)?

Hi Carol.... I've been following your live thread since the first minute you posted.

It's almost my turn. We board her on Saturday. I'm really getting excited. We have a great roll call, and looking forward to making lots of new friends.

SO, do you think I have a change a being "Queen" of Quest again. Any pointers you can give me???? (in private of course);)

Tell everyone on Mariner I said Hi and wish I was there with you all.

Holy crap..... WHY did they give away office supplies @ the M&M. Please don't tell me they can't afford a bottle of 2 buck chuck. Sad just sad.

Have a great time.

Pat

:)

Staples of the Seas would DEFINITELY be more alliterative.

No Magnet Board. :(

They actually gave away KEY CHAINS!!!!!

But we had a Roll Call slot pull this afternoon, and we actually WON MONEY.

We all put in $21, and each of us walked away with $30!!!!! We usually lose it all. :)

I'm about even in the casino so far on the Mariner.

Did I mention earlier in a post that the Oasis has dozens and dozens of penny slots? Good ones, too.

Of course I know Airmont. Near Suffern. We used to eat in the Airmont Diner on 59 all the time. I miss those Rockland/NJ diners! I never cared for the Palisades Center mall. Too ugly and far too big.

OK, cruise chat. I wonder what Carol is up to now? You never know! There is another thread Carol started about her "antics" on the Mariner. Can't get enough and can't wait for my cruise in Jan. It's been too long. wooohoooo and yippeeeeeeeeeee.

Forgot to say we moved before the new 17 and 4 interchange was done. It was always a nightmare! Gridlock city!
