3rd and 4th person charges

We would like to take our kids ages 14, and 11 on a cruise and were wondering which cruiselines have the best prices. We went on our first cruise without kids last year, and sailed with royal caribbean, which we loved, and would like to sail again, but I saw fees of $1000 for 3rd and 4th persons in same room. Can anyone give any advice? Thanks

How much they charge for the 3/4 person often depends on time of year. In low season, early Ded., early Jan, prices might be low, and some lines will say kids sail free except for taxes and fees. But hig season, such as spring break, holidays, summer...costs will be higher, sometimes saving little over the regular prices. EM

I have a 3rd person on a 7 day RCL cruise for $299. Mariner, so all rates for extra pax are not $1000 .. was it summer and a high category? We are in a inside.

Some cruiselines like MSC will run a children cruise free special now and again. Disney has $99 rates, but will charge much higher for pax 1 and 2 on the cruises with the $99 rate.

We have always cruised when school is out, and have always put our two kids in our room with us and never paid fees like the OP is proposing. This has included Disney and Royal. For our upcoming HAL the kids will have their own room, but right now HAL also has a sale with 3 & 4th pax reduced or free.

Check with your TA if you don't have enough time to do the leg work yourself.

Yes, many ships do not have many cabins for 4 passengers, but $1,000 each seems high.

We have cruised with our son on almost all of our trips. Some cruise lines charge the same price for 3rd and 4th passengers as they do for the first two. It really depends on the ship itself. Some of the newer ships provide 3rd and 4th births in almost every cabin. We like to book the cheapest inside cabins available and many cruises sell out of the extra birth rooms very early. Look for cruise lines that have ships where most rooms can accommodate extra passengers . We have found that Carnival offers some of the best pricing. Check out their new Carnival Magic which sets sail in May. There are lots of extra births and being new, this ship will have some features that will definitely surprise your kids.

Have fun!! :)
