caribbeanboy Posted February 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Just found this on another thread. Here is a schedule of Geirangerfjorden showing Serenade making some stops in the summer of 2012! Wondering what will happen to Adventure and if San Juan will stay without a RC ship during the summer months. http://www.stranda-hamnevesen.no/GeirangerfjordenCP2012

janabm81 Posted February 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I swear my husband & I must be cursed, sorry everyone! Every ship we've been on in the summer for past couple years leaves for overseas the season after!
Ocean Boy Posted February 12, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Very interesting. Now if RCI would put a Freedom class ship down in San Juan I'd be a very happy sailor having my favorite class of ship sailing out of my favorite departure port.... but I need it during winter. Could RCI really be abandoning the Southern Caribbean for the summer?

astangenes Posted February 12, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Maybe Serenade will sail from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen instead of Vision in 2012 then? :)
spencercoop Posted February 12, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Maybe Serenade will sail from Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen instead of Vision in 2012 then? :) On that list, I see 4 departures for the Vision from Norway.

But on my Cruise on Vision last year they told us that in 2012 they wil have a bigger and newer ship sailing from Oslo:)

Tropical Traveler Posted February 12, 2011 #13 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Will the currently scheduled 4/14/12 cruise probably be the last southern Caribbean sailing the Serenade does before departing for Europe? We had been intending to make plans for a southern Caribbean B2B of the 4/14 and 4/21/12 sailings when the 2012/2013 deployment schedule was released in the spring. snoop-a-loop Posted February 12, 2011 #14 Share Posted February 12, 2011 I'm slightly disappointed to hear this, as I'm hoping for Southern Caribbean next summer. Hopefully San Juan sees another ship sailing during the summer months.

Texas Teen Posted February 12, 2011 #16 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Isn't this great?! We're losing another ship to Europe! RCCL will have 11 ships in Europe this summer, which is HALF of the fleet! The last thing Europe needs is yet another RCCL ship next year!!! Hopefully RCCL will keep the Adventure in San Juan instead of sending it to Europe, or send another ship to San Juan for the summer. It's hard for me to imagine San Juan without a ship in the summer. Why do you think that europe has too many RCI ships? if they send their ship overseas it's because they think (know) that they can fill them up and at a better rate! trojan3000 Posted February 13, 2011 #20 Share Posted February 13, 2011 caribbeanboy I check these prices out on the RCL uk web site Friday. A 14 night cruise on Independence out of Southampton and a 14 night on Liberty out of Fort Lauderdale. The RCL are making approximately $1200 more per stateroom per cruise. But aren't the Liberty 14 nighters transatlantic repo cruises? Repo cruises are almost always a lot less expensive.
spencercoop Posted February 13, 2011 #22 Share Posted February 13, 2011 But aren't the Liberty 14 nighters transatlantic repo cruises? Repo cruises are almost always a lot less expensive. Yep. That is the only 14 day cruise on the Liberty that I am aware of.

Maybe they are just trying to put another ship into Europe and keeping a ship in San Juan RCI has decided to put the Radiance Down Under next year with the Rhapsody. Carnival is going to have a ship in Australia next year for the first time and a ship in Europe. Can only be good for the competition and bring the prices down.
