cabinboy1945 Posted March 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2011 we are booking a 4 day cruise out of miami at the end of next month on the majesty of the seas. we usually cruise on celebrity and are wondering what sort of difference between the two lines or ships can i expect? we have sailed the solistice and the century. firefly333 Posted March 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2011 any other ships, other than majesty and monarch I would support, but those two older ships do have teensy tiny insides and OVs...I usually am not picky but I at least need a window. It is a older ship, but the entertainment was good. I liked the soda refill stations for the coke card.
cabinboy1945 Posted March 27, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted March 27, 2011 that's a start, thank you. also, what is their smoking policy? we find that celebrity is strict and we like that.
Clarea Posted March 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2011 that's a start, thank you. also, what is their smoking policy? we find that celebrity is strict and we like that. The major difference is that Royal allows smoking on oceanview balconies, whereas Celebrity does not. Like Celebrity, Royal does not allow smoking in staterooms. cabinboy1945 Posted March 28, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted March 28, 2011 what about the casino and outside on the decks?
cb at sea Posted March 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Casino is smoking, most nights...they may have 1 night as non-smoking...usually formal night (night 2). On outside decks, the starboard side is usually the smoking side...you'll see ashtrays where smoking is allowed. All balconies allow smoking, too. bilyclub Posted March 28, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Don't expect that much. Its almost a 20 year old ship. Still in great shape, but still old.
dkmiller3356 Posted March 28, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2011 I love RCCL but you cannot compare a Solstice to the Majesty. The RCCL experience is best on Radiance and above. Really, IMHO on Explorer and above.
cruiseguy1016 Posted March 28, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 28, 2011 The ship is old but it had a total overhaul in 2007 and it looks fantastic. It was in dry dock last year for some more refurbish. They replaced the entire pool deck, most of the outdoor carpeting around the pool deck, carpeting and upholstery in some of the lounges. The ship looks great! You'll never know it is 20 years old. Eng23 Posted March 28, 2011 #11 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Except for Central Park and Boardwalk balconies on Oasis/Allure. The OP was inquiring about the Majesty of which there are only outside balcony rooms and they are also all JS and above.

Merion_Mom Posted March 28, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Do you know if the Monarch has had a overhaul as well? It had a quickie in 2008 on its way to Port Canaveral from L.A. They didn't do a lot; she does have new surfacing on the pool deck areas, I think.
