we are booking a 4 day cruise out of miami at the end of next month on the majesty of the seas. we usually cruise on celebrity and are wondering what sort of difference between the two lines or ships can i expect? we have sailed the solistice and the century.

any other ships, other than majesty and monarch I would support, but those two older ships do have teensy tiny insides and OVs...I usually am not picky but I at least need a window.

It is a older ship, but the entertainment was good. I liked the soda refill stations for the coke card.

that's a start, thank you. also, what is their smoking policy? we find that celebrity is strict and we like that.

The major difference is that Royal allows smoking on oceanview balconies, whereas Celebrity does not. Like Celebrity, Royal does not allow smoking in staterooms.

Casino is smoking, most nights...they may have 1 night as non-smoking...usually formal night (night 2). On outside decks, the starboard side is usually the smoking side...you'll see ashtrays where smoking is allowed.

All balconies allow smoking, too.

The ship is old but it had a total overhaul in 2007 and it looks fantastic. It was in dry dock last year for some more refurbish. They replaced the entire pool deck, most of the outdoor carpeting around the pool deck, carpeting and upholstery in some of the lounges. The ship looks great! You'll never know it is 20 years old.

Except for Central Park and Boardwalk balconies on Oasis/Allure.

The OP was inquiring about the Majesty of which there are only outside balcony rooms and they are also all JS and above.

Do you know if the Monarch has had a overhaul as well?
