jarand Posted July 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2011 If you board part way through the itinerary, or leave before the cruise is over, I know you need a waiver. Does the cruise line adjust the fare?
alcpa1 Posted July 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2011 NO, unless you have booked a portion of a world cruise or a multi itinerary cruise.
CaveDiving Posted July 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2011 If you board part way through the itinerary, or leave before the cruise is over, I know you need a waiver. Does the cruise line adjust the fare? Except for some really unique circumstances, the answer will be a definite "the fare will not be reduced". In fact, depending where you get on or off, it is possible that the cruise line may actually charge you extra for the privilege of your doing so at a non-planned port. Gonzo70 Posted July 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2011 They'd be more likely to tack on a surcharge rather than discount the cruise for you. The cruise lines are heavily dependent on revenue generated from people spending money while on board the ship. If somebody only takes a partial cruise the cruise line likely will take in less revenue than if somebody was occupying that stateroom for the entire cruise. That said they will not tack on a surcharge, but they definitely will not discount the cruise for you.
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2011 Very rarely can you get a lower price. It never hurts to ask but do not count on it. Keith
paul929207 Posted July 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2011 No adjustment.
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2011 No adjustment. There are a few cruise lines who may do this. Again, highly unlikely but best to ask then to wonder. Again, highly doubtful but there is no cost to ask even if the answer is likely no. Keith
firefly333 Posted July 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2011 There are some cruises that the original fare is based on being able to get on at a different port .. but no otherwise. Its considered them doing you a favor to allow you to debark the cruise early.
Underwatr Posted July 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 10, 2011 In most cases it's not as though the ship will be able to sell your room to someone else for the remaining days on that itinerary.
jarand Posted July 11, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted July 11, 2011 Thanks. That's what I thought the answer would be.
