LSU & Saints games onboard the Ecstasy

Recommended Posts

We watched the saints game on the big screen on a triumph cruise. Ecstasy doesnt have a big screen and I was told it was up to the CD at the time anyway.

If they are on a tv station that is carried in your cabin, worse comes to worse at least you can watch it there?

I have not seen any ship that regularly shows football. The sports bar will turn on 10 tvs on different channels, but they may or may not be the ones you want to see.

Of course being from Louisiana my husband and I are huge LSU and Saints fans. I just realized that the day our cruise leaves LSU has a game and the next day the Saints play. Is there going to be somewhere for us to watch the games onboard the ship?

I would cancel the cruise. I can miss the saints (reluctantly) but a slight chance of missing both LSU and Saints games....forget about it. LOL.

I feel your pain! My boyfriend insisted that we go on our cruise during the off weekend of UT football. We also could not fly to Puerto Rico the day before the cruise because we ABSOLUTELY CANNOT miss watching the game Saturday.

my issue is with NFL football- I like a vacation in Sept.

On the ships-- they show national games.

If your game is not being shown national it will not be seen on the ship.

Learned that lesson the first cruise when many people here said-- yea you will see the game.. the answer was NOT.

so now we go to Aruba and hit a sports bar. I get my vacation and he gets his 4 hours of football

Only if the games are "Nationally" televised

monday night football often has a feed from the uk so the play by play commentating may not be what you are used to. i saw the 2009 world series on board and the feed was in spanish.

Monday Night Football is actually on the ESPN International feed that the ships get. (24/7 soccer, except for MNF )

Actually kind of fun to watch the regular announcers with all the on screen graphics in Espanol.

The Saints are at the Panthers that Sunday, so you have ZERO chance of seeing that game. (I don't even have to look at the other games that week)

Now LSU is at home versus Florida at 7PM that Saturday.

Sounds like a potential nationally televised game.

Not sure which network would have the game.

If it is nationally televised on CBS or ABC you will be good to go.

If it is televised nationally on ESPN you are screwed. (the ships, do NOT have regular ESPN, just international.)

Hope you at least get your LSU game.

Good luck.

I thought it was changed to Miami .. was that just some of the ships?

Last I knew it was still Denver but moot point....Unless NO or LSU is playing a national game or in Miami no TV.....

This is your correct answer. DO NOT go on a cruise and expect to see whatever game you want. We have sailed several times now in September and have seen near riots because they weren't showing the Alabama or Georgia or Florida game. Twice we have sailed away on the Legend on a Sunday while my beloved Bucs are playing five miles away and we did not get to see the games on tv. We did get the military jet flyover before we sailed though. That was cool. And we always bring a radio, so we can listen to the game before we sail. Once we were at sea on a Sunday and met up with a local Bucs fan with a satellite radio and boom box and we were able to listen to the Bucs lose. That's another thought if you're a big sports fan. Satellite radio.

I feel your pain! With the NFL Lock out going on.. it didn't even cross my mind about when my team plays during my upcoming cruise in December until about 2 weeks ago! And I am the type of girl who when we were living out of the area for a few years, didn't hesitate at all to have DirectTV AND Cable at my house and only used DirectTV for the NFL season ticket :D

When I realized... OMG am I going to miss 2 football games?!? I looked at the schedule. We have the Thursday game before we leave, and then we don't play until the Monday after we get back :D. Talk about amazing scheduling and not knowing it!! I would have gotten strange looks on the ship anyways, I still remember being the 11 year old girl alone in the Sports Area of a hotel we were in at Las Vegas screaming at the Stanley Cup play-offs, let alone it being FOOTBALL season!

On a funny note though.. the DH and DS's don't care at all about sports.... they all look at me really strange as Mom yells and swears at the TV. Here is hoping that will change this year!

We will survive if we don't get to see the games. It definitly won't ruin our first vacation in 10 years.

Let me get this right? A football game, college or pro, it does not matter in this analysis, vs a cruise? That is what is being discussed, right?

1. The game(s) is not impacted by your viewership

2. You can not record your cruising experience on your DVR, but you can record the games.

3. If you were hit by a car the following week and were on your last breath and your final thought would be thinking about the cruise you had with your family or would you be thinking about how disappointed you were being on the cruise and missed the LSU and Saints game.

I can not believe anybody would be that concerned about a game in which they do not participate. I spend little to no time on a cruise ship watching grown men or women play a game.

It's not the end of the world if we don't see the games. I was just asking if it was a possibility. And if I was hit by a car I would not be thinking of a cruise or a football game.

Just got off the Glory and they had regular ESPN at the sports bar and near the casino bar.

If they do that is something that is brand new.

9 cruises, twice a year, all on Carnival and all 9 had ESPN International.

Although in here in the past 5 years I have been posting in here, I have seen many people claim the ships had ESPN, when they really didn't.

The announcers were American and they were talking about the end of the NFL lockout. They were not talking about a nil to nil futbol game.
