Casino Question

......introduce yourself to the casino manager. Tell him(her) you are interested in joining

'Club Royale'. Your play is tracked on your seapass card much like a land based casino.

It will be up to the manager, after you have played awhile about drinks. If you qualify for the club, about 6 weeks after your cruise, you will recieve a membership card & a VERY generous discount towards your next cruise in the mail.

google...... club royale for more info

do not be discouraged by what it says about qualifying or for that matter, even what the casino manager says. I think he is obligated to repeat what the internet says. It goes by total points, not wager.

My husband & I only play quarter machines occassionally clicking them up to 50 cents.

On our last few cruises, we have only had to show our memership card for free drinks in the casino.

ALWAYS put your card in the machine. You win 2 ways...eventhough you might lose your $$ :O)

1st, you get points to use onboard. I have used them for internet credit, Johnny Rockets cover charge, stuff like that.

Totally seperate is the offer you will get in the mail from Club Royale.

I am sure you will find them just as generous, if not more so than any land based casino.

For my last few cruises, I have only played poker in the casino, no slots or other table games. It certainly isn't Vegas in terms of drinks, but I have received a few. A couple of nights, after several hours of play at a full table, we talked the casino manager into a round of drinks. And a few times I got to the casino before a poker table had been opened, and the manager offered a complimentary drink while two or three of us waited at the table for enough people to get a game going. A table can sit empty for quite a awhile, but once a couple of spots are taken, the rest fill quickly. At least a few people were at the slots watching for players to arrive...

My boyfriend wants to know what the bets are on the craps tables? I never played table games before and its his first cruise.. thanks!

From what I can tell from other posts, it's a standard layout you would see anywhere (though I am not exactly sure if they have the Big 6 and Big 8) However, they typically only offer crummy 1x odds.

The odds on Craps aren't like on land....2X's is usually the most odds you'll get.

Most table games have a $5 min. bet....if it gets really busy, they'll raise the min. to $10.

I think they had field bets and playing the "odds" (hard 6, hard 8, etc.) at $1 min bets. I think the passline was $5, though. That was last year on the Granduer.

Those are not odds bets. Those are proposition bets and the odds on them are lousy. Odds bets are bets on top of underlying pass or come line bets that pay the true odds of hitting that point: 2:1 on 4 and 10, 3:2 on 5 and 9, and 6:5 on 6 and 8. The 1x and 2x odds means that you can play the same amount or twice the amount in an odds bet against the underlying pass or come line bet.

For example, say you have a come line bet of $5 and the point rolled is 4 on a table that allows 2x odds. You can bet a $10 odds bet. If the point is made (a 4 is rolled before a 7), your winnings will be $25 on that $15: $5 from the even money pass line bet, and $20, 2x10, for the odds bet. If you just put your $15 on the pass line, you'd only win $15 on the even money pass line.

You can also take the odds bet down at ANY time, which you can't do with the underlying pass or come line bet. Odds bets don't "work" on any coming out rolls unless you specifically call that out to the dealers.

Odds bet are about the best bet in the casino, because the house advantage only applies to the underlying bet. There is no house advantage on the odds bets. That is why craps players really like places that offer 10x odds like some Vegas casinos offered a few years ago, because the house advantage on the minimal required underlying bet with 10x odds is miniscule. That is opposed to the proposition bets (hard ways, any craps, any natural, horn, c&e) which have a big house advantage, making them really lousy bets.

I won't play unless the table offers at least 2x odds. In my experience, there are only 1 or 2 nights on a 7 day cruise when 2x odds are offered. Most any land side casinos offer at least 2x odds, , many routinely off "3-4-5x" odds, where the max odds depends on the point, 3 for 4 or 10, 4 for 5 and 9 and 5 for 6 and 8.

No. Only if you join their "players club" which is for high rollers.

Becoming a member of Club Royale isn't like joining a players club in a land based casino. You need to be rated & then invited to join. The key word here is invited!

Talk to the casino manager but please don't expect to be issued a card & get any perks on this cruise.

Only a consistant player. As I said earlier, we are quarter machine players but go to the casino everyday.

I would not do 1 pull without my seapass card in the machine, You never know when 1 pull might lead to another.

It is true your membership comes later in the mail after you join onboard.

It is still worth it. The credit for your next druise is very generous & the way they apply it, like cash, does not conflict with any other discounts you might have.

On one cruise we booked within the final payment time & had to immediately pay if full. Club Royale actually had it arranged for us to collect cash at the casino when we got onboard. It was around $300. each.

When you insert your seapass card, do they track your play from cruise to cruise? We do several cruises a year, and hit the casinos every night. We're quarter slot players, but not high rollers. Not sure how you get "rated" unless they track your play this way.

I think it is cruise to cruise.

After each cruise we get a letter from Club Royale with our next booking offer. It is good for 1 year.

As far as the 'points' you get to use while you are onboard....a casino manager told me these have nothing to do with Club Royale. In fact you do not even have to be a member.

If you do not use up those points by the end of your cruise, you lose them.

They have a list of things you can use those points for.

Things like tee shirts, hats, internet credit, specialty restaurant coupons, etc.

So you're all saying that by just putting my SeaPass card into a machine, I can get points like in a regular casino? Is anything taken off my card if I have OBC on there? Can I say put in $20 to the machine, with my card and still get the points? Where can I redeem the points I gain?

(Sorry, I'm just finding out about this and am very curious since I play consistently.)

You can get comped drinks without joining the Club Royale. On my last cruise on the Majesty in June I was comped about a half dozen drinks over two nights while playing 3-card poker. One of the managers came over and asked myself and another guy playing what we were drinking and the waitress brought them over to us. A few minutes later he came over with free drink cards for the two of us to use. By the next night they knew what we were drinking and brought a few more over during the course of the evening.

The manager said it was from the dealers. Generally instead of tipping the dealers I would play a $5-10 side bet for the dealer on pairs or better. Over three of the nights they made over $500 from myself alone and probably closer to $1000.

I didn't know the other guy originally but he was a degenerate gambler and lost thousand over the course of the cruise that I saw. But he would drop a $100 on the side bet for the dealers. The beauty for the dealers is they never lose on the side bet because even if it doesn't hit it wasn't their money. If it does hit it doesn't take much to see a 3-1 or higher payout.

OK..on our last cruise in June aboard the Allure we did use our Sea Pass every time we played the machine at at the end of the week both of us had some points to use and exchanged them for shirts, cash, etc. Now my question is did we actually have to JOIN Club Casino or will we get "credit" from using our Sea Pass? I never saw anything about an application or the like when we were on the ship and wondered if we missed out. We are Harrahs Diamond members so it would probably be something worthwhile for us....

There is an application. You have to let the casino manager know you are interested. Then, at the end of the cruise ask him if you qualify & fill out the application.

Do not worry about them talking about $5. per bet....as I have said, my husband & I playing quarted & fifty cent machines. It is based on how many points. Since you are a member of Harrah's, I am sure you understand that.

Also, make sure you BOTH fill out an application. You will each get your own offer but can use them both on your next cruise.

I was on a cruise Jewel 11 days in Jan and more times then not my card and my sisiters card never worked in the machine so points were not accumulating. If they had I would have gotten some perks.

I'm sorry to hear that about Club Casino as we would have definately joined had we known that. We will have to make sure to speak to the casino manager when we are on the Allure again in November. Too bad they don't make the information more readily available!

If you qualify they will find you and invite you to join Club Royale. The casino manager approached me on the 2nd night of a cruise on the Liberty in 2007. He invited me to join and gave me a blue vip card to play with, that entitled me to free drinks while in the casino. They approached my husband on night 3 and did the same thing.
