Highlander1 Posted September 18, 2011 #179 Share Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Sorry, I thought from one of the above posts you could buy a premium package of (20) drinks for $100. My wife splained to me that the $100 would cover the cost of a litre of spirits which would provide 20 drinks. Thats why I keep her around. danousha Posted September 19, 2011 #183 Share Posted September 19, 2011 I just read your message regarding the occasional sharing. I inquired about that on another thread and the reply was that they monitor everything you drink. Not that I am trying to cheat the system, but I couldn't understand why I couldn't profit from my husband's drink once in a while. I usually don't order drinks in a bar except for a soft drink. But, I do like to have a drink or two a day. Therefore, are you saying that it is no big deal?
Rare cruisestitch Posted September 19, 2011 #184 Share Posted September 19, 2011 Yes, they monitor drink orders, both the bartenders and the servers. If your husband tried to buy himself a beer, and a moment later tried to buy you a margarita, it would show up and you would be sharing in a way that the programs prohibit. I was saying that you presented a unique question -- at least I don't remember seeing it before. You both have a package, you both order the drink that is included in your package. You aren't trying to put to expensive alcoholic drinks on one package at one time. This is a bit different than what most people are attempting to do. Others will chime in, I'm sure. danousha Posted September 20, 2011 #185 Share Posted September 20, 2011 I disagree, even if the subject was already addressed, a lot of us like to have different opinions and I would imagine that if a sight like this one was created, then we should be free to ask any questions we want (that is without being rude or grotesque in any way.). dh
BlueBeaver Posted September 20, 2011 #186 Share Posted September 20, 2011 The Premium package on the Eclipse allows for all drinks up to $13.75 per serving. The cost per day is $62.10 and is inclusive of charges. All drinks menus in the bars were priced inclusive of all charges so you knew there would be no extra 15% or so No beers were priced over the $13.75 because I tried them all. The wines, per glass, seemed to be priced in groups that fell into your price range. Plenty of choice up to and including the limit. If you had the classic package the limits on special water and the beers were lower at $5.75 per serving and wine/spirits up to $9.25.Again there were choices that were priced within this range. Plenty of bottled beer priced at $5.75 but several at $8.75. The great thing about the packages was at dinner. Our waiter knew what we wanted and kept topping up all the time.Never could see her coming, just the bottle appearing over my shoulder.Never complained! If you are not sure on buying this package, get onboard, have a couple of days seeing what is on offer then buying each drink as you go. If you check your account and find it could be expensive then go and buy the package for the remaining days left. You can book onboard for the remaining days. We booked our package well in advance of the price increases. We booked when the cost per day was $55 and the limit around $11. Got onboad and the limit was raised....very pleased! I hope this may help you choose. Dave
Sea Breeze Posted September 20, 2011 #187 Share Posted September 20, 2011 I am on the fence what to do the classic or premium as I can only drink white wines due to Migraines with red/blush wines. Would I do better with the premium with more choices of white wine?

bendigoboy Posted September 21, 2011 #189 Share Posted September 21, 2011 I have no doubt that someone has asked this or an answer has been posted BUT... Where can we see a drinks price list for "Century" ( I'm talking alcohol) so that i can see what becomes available on the Premium compared to Classic. If what i drink is on classic then that will do, if not i go premium.
oldmovieguy Posted September 21, 2011 #190 Share Posted September 21, 2011 Let me start by saying we are not big drinkers per say, however on a cruise, we do like to enjoy ourselves, after all it is a carribbean vacation! We were on the Connie last January and purchased the Premium Drink package prior to boarding. Initially we were concerned that with so many port days we might not get our money's worth. Not only did we get our money's worth and more, there were other perks that we didn't anticipate. Aside from no slips to sign etc, often around the pool when a frozen drink started melting often the staff would ask if they could just make a new one. We tried many different types of drinks esp Martinis that we might not have bought otherwise. If we tried a new drink and didn't like it it was replaced with another drink of our choice without question. In order to show you why we felt this was a great deal I will describe a typical day. Disclaimer... based on this, some may think that we are heavy drinkers...if that is the case , while we appreciate your perspective and opinion please do not comment on our consumption ( this is our first post and we have seen some petty unnecessary replies). The purpose of this information is not to expose our consumption for review and/or public scrutiny, but to demonstrate to those who like to let their hair down a little and are wondering from a ecocnmic standpoint is it worth purchasing a package. 0830-Latte with one and half shots of Bailys..........$10.00 1100-large water...............................................$ 3.50 1230- Frozen drink..............................................$6.50 1430- Beer........................................................$5.00 1600- Frozen drink..............................................$6.50 1800- Glass of wine while dressing for dinner............$10.00 1930- Martini and dancing prior to dinner.................$12.00 2030- Dinner ( 4 different types of wine by the glass as suggested with each course by sommommlier-not all entirely consumed)..$ 40.00 2215- Specialty Coffee..........................................$ 8.00 2300- Dancing/Bar/Show/Casino Cocktail.............................$10.00 2400- Nightcap.(wearever..maybe brought back to balcony) $10.00 Total...$121.50 ( Drink prices are approx by memory-please don't bust me for not remembering exact price..probably cause I drank too much..Ha ha) Cost per day...$55.00 Remenber this is for one person double the savings when we each bought one! Only difference on port days was that we had two beers when back on ship as compared to 3 poolside drinks. Many nights we actually stayed out dancing etc later and maybe had another one...or if really hot day at the pool and having fun with poolside neighbors maybe snuck in an extra beer! If you think this might come even close to a typical carribbean vacation day for you, then you can see what a true value it is. The other convieniences were no slips to sign, bar servers, waiters and sommoliers knowing your preferences and offering drink suggestions and special cocktails that we had never tried before. We told our assit waiter the first night about the specialty coffee and we had it served with our dessert every night...no hassles. It really added to the vacation atmosphere that we enjoy! Hope this helps! This is the best case I have ever seen made for the drinks package, My wife and I availed ourselves of the Premium in May this year on the Eclipse Baltic cruise and like many others on here were unsure as to the value of it. It worked out just fine and if I had seen this topic as quoted above we would have been in like Flynn! Well done for such a great presentation. Tudorcruisers Posted September 21, 2011 #191 Share Posted September 21, 2011 We are just off the Constellation and had the Premium Package and it was one of the best parts of the cruise. I loved not having to sign the receipts, waiters got to know what i was asking for and at dinner the wine waiter just topped up our glasses without being asked. We loved having the freshly squeezed orange juice with breakfast and then heading down to Cafe Bacio for coffee/tea. We really enjoyed having the bottled water at all times large bottles and small. I know there is water on tap on the ship but it just doesn't taste the same at all. I love a glass of champagne late afternoon as I get ready for dinner and then we had a pre-dinner martini. It was wonderful to have a really nice wine ie Pouilly Fume with dinner, speciality coffee in cafe Bacio after dinner and then a glass of wine with the show and we certainly were over what we paid for the Premium package but not by any means falling down drunk etc. It can sound a lot when you pay out for it before the cruise etc but if you then bought it all on board and added it up we discovered it was worthwhile for us to purchase the package. We will certainly be doing it on our next cruise and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a few nice drinks.

Esprit Posted September 22, 2011 #194 Share Posted September 22, 2011 Yes, I can buy on-line here in the UK for upcoming cruise in March Hope this helps. Glenda When you order on line just ignore the "glitch" with the initial price shown. When you proceed to purchase the package the price corrects itself to the right amount which is the cost plus 15% gratuity. You will see what I mean when you work your way through the process. LannyLee Posted September 22, 2011 #195 Share Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) If you for example purchase the non alcoholic premium package & after 2 days want to upgrade to the alcoholic & pay the difference. Will X remove the alcoholic drinks you have already had off the bill & just assume they would have been included in the package? Does that make sense? So if I had had 4 cocktails at $7 = $28 & then pay to upgrade eg an extra $200 will they just charge the extra $200 and not $228 for the drinks I've already had? I'm just trying to work out if I should get the non-alcoholic one & see how many drinks I have & if it is worth upgrading? I hope this is another example of the website being out of date!! Yes, the $12 is still the upper limit. The exception for Eclipse sailings out of Southampton. The bar prices include the 15% gratuity - so a $12 drink is shown as $13.75. As a result the drink package limits are adjusted to an upper limit of $13.75. jagoffee Posted September 22, 2011 #199 Share Posted September 22, 2011 I disagree, even if the subject was already addressed, a lot of us like to have different opinions and I would imagine that if a sight like this one was created, then we should be free to ask any questions we want (that is without being rude or grotesque in any way.). dh Of course, but you have asked the same question many times. You keep saying that you want to lie and cheat the system by having a drink when only your husband pays for a package. I suspect that you are really not trying to get people to respond to you obvious attempt to cheat the cruise line, but I would hope that you understand that it is tempting. Especially consider that you keep repeating yourself. If your sense of integrity allows you to have a drink for yourself without paying you might get away with it and you might not. I suspect that many of use are not necessarily wishing your good luck in your attempt. Are you actually expecting us to wish you good luck? I am on the fence what to do the classic or premium as I can only drink white wines due to Migraines with red/blush wines. Would I do better with the premium with more choices of white wine? From my experience you will have a much better choice of white wines if you have the premium package. It has been reported that you might be able to pay the difference between $12 and the cost of even a more expensive wine. IMO the main reason to get a premium package over the classic is the better wines and the martinis. The X website says the premium package includes drinks up to $12.00. I hope this is another example of the website being out of date!! I believe that it is update.
